Episode 6 of "Fool Me Once" opens with Detective Kierce and Nicole standing at the bridge, their conversation interrupted by a call from Marty, urgently discussing Maya. Kierce promptly joins Marty at the crime scene, where Maya stands, tense and shaken.

Maya reveals that she received an anonymous phone call on her landline, leading her to the grisly discovery of Tommy Dark's lifeless body concealed in a freezer. Her search for Tommy was motivated by a desire to unravel the mystery surrounding her sister's fate. When she attempts to leave the scene, Marty attempts to block her, but Maya lashes out, striking him instinctively. Kierce's tone turns sharp, warning Marty to proceed with caution as Maya, despite her actions, remains a Burkett, and they must have solid evidence before bringing her into custody.

As a precaution, they decide to retain Maya's car, and Kierce's sarcasm is palpable when he remarks on the seemingly constant presence of dead bodies in her life. Maya, angered, confronts him about his supposed allegiance to the Burkett family. Kierce is taken aback by the accusation and invites Maya to his home to clear the air.

There, he lays out his financial records and lifestyle, pointing out his plans for marriage and the impending arrival of a child. He insists that he has too much to lose to risk it all for Burkett's money. He demands to know why Maya would accuse him of such corruption, and she mentions Caroline's name. Kierce urges Maya to report him if she suspects him of wrongdoing but also demands the truth from her if she claims innocence. He warns her that her connection to Tommy's body places her in a perilous position.

Maya confesses that she knows Tommy was on Burkett's payroll, but claims that is all the information she has. The tension between them is palpable, and the mystery surrounding Maya's involvement in this case deepens.

After the tense confrontation, Maya made her way to Eddie's abode to collect Lily. She had arranged for him to fetch her from Judith's residence, mindful of the sensitivity of the situation. As they settled into a conversation, Maya revealed the startling discovery of Tommy's lifeless body, and they pondered the possible connection between his demise and Claire's brutal murder.

Maya felt a sense of urgency, knowing that time was swiftly slipping away. Eddie, sensing her desperation, lent a helping hand in unearthing more about Swain. His keen eye recognized the building where Swain had captured his profile picture, a crucial clue in their investigation.

Amidst their discussion, they also shared their personal struggles. Eddie opened up about the difficult days following his wife's demise, and Maya offered words of comfort and encouragement.

Later, Maya stealthily infiltrated the building, determined to uncover Swain's secrets. Her investigation revealed that Swain had a history of wild parties followed by rehabilitation, indicating a struggle with alcohol addiction. It seemed like a pattern, one that held the key to unlocking his connection to the murders.

Meanwhile, at the police station, Marty was engaged in a cover-up for Detective Kierce. In the process, he learned about the tragic death of Kierce's first fiancée, who had been murdered while on the job. This revelation shed light on Kierce's descent into alcoholism, a haunting shadow that had hovered over his career.

Back at Eddie's, he sat down with his daughter to discuss her half-brother and her search for him. Eddie assured her that the young man was innocent of Claire's death and expressed his willingness to reach out to him. However, their conversation was interrupted by Dan, who flew into a rage upon learning that his sister had met their new brother without him.

On another note, Kierce attended an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, where he confessed his fear of dying and leaving his wife and child to cope with his absence. Nicole, sensing his torment, urged him to tell Molly the truth. This time, Kierce heeded her advice and came clean, revealing his struggles with alcoholism. To his relief, Molly's response was one of unwavering support and love. They were a team, and that was all that mattered in the face of such challenges.

Simultaneously, Maya received a startling call from Caroline, revealing that she had encountered Joe as well and he had entrusted a message specifically for Maya. Before Caroline could elaborate further, the line abruptly went dead. Maya frantically dialed back, and a mysterious male voice answered, only to emit heavy breaths through the receiver. The mysterious call sent chills down Maya's spine, prompting her to double-check that both she and Lily were securely sheltered within their home.

As Maya scribbled down her thoughts, flashbacks of recent events began to swirl in her mind. Unexpectedly, a strange man appeared, lurking outside, watching her intently through the window.

The following day, Eddie orchestrated a reunion among the siblings, inviting Louis to the house. The trio spent a cherished moment together, and Eddie cautiously inquired if Louis wished to meet his father. Louis, filled with anticipation, eagerly acquiesced. This time, his sister's attitude was more welcoming, and she willingly shared anecdotes about their mother.

Meanwhile, at the police station, the blood test results discovered in Maya's boot were finally processed. Shockingly, the blood belonged to Tommy. Furthermore, Marty unearthed evidence indicating that Maya had not been alone during her visit to Tommy's locker, contradicting her earlier claims. This damning evidence prompted the police to summon Maya for further questioning.

Maya steadfastly maintained her innocence, insisting that she was being framed. This time, she revealed information about Corey and his whereabouts to the police. The officers were perplexed by her association with the whistleblower who had disrupted her life, but Maya explained that she was determined to uncover the truth surrounding Claire's death. Maya suspected that Claire's murder was linked to a potential scandal involving the company's pharmaceutical products. The police immediately sprang into action to locate Corey, and their supervisor advised Marty and Kierce to split up to cover a broader area.

Marty's heart is heavy with worry as he observes Kierce granting Maya countless opportunities. His concern extends to Kierce's well-being, prompting him to ban him from driving. Kierce, however, assures Marty that after a heartfelt conversation with Molly, he feels rejuvenated.

Meanwhile, Shane strides into the police station to collect Maya, demanding the truth from her lips. She remains tight-lipped, refusing to divulge further details. With a promise to reveal everything soon and never deceive him, she confides in him about Swain's drinking issues and the wealthy family's covert efforts to conceal his DUIs.

Eager to track down Swain, Maya visits Judith for assistance. Judith, eager to lend a helping hand, encourages Maya to confide in someone about her ordeals. She hints at Joe's undisclosed secrets and confesses her fear of losing Maya too. During their encounter, Maya stealthily plants a tracker on Izabella's boyfriend's car, unaware that he works for Judith.

Back at the police station, Kierce discovers that a military officer has officially requested an investigation into Claire's case. Suspecting it to be Shane's handiwork, his superior orders him to engage with the officer. Amidst their conversation, the police station falls prey to a cyberattack perpetrated by Corey, locking them out of their systems. Kierce frantically tries to contact Marty, warning him that Corey is closing in and he won't be at the arcade. Instead, he suspects he'll be lurking in the woods, and Kierce decides to brave the drive there alone. Marty, displeased with this decision, rushes to intercept, determined to prevent any harm from coming to Kierce.

As Judith recommends Maya make her way to rehab, an unexpected call from Shane interrupts her journey. She fabricates a lie, claiming she's home and unable to meet. Unbeknownst to her, Shane is already at her residence and knows she's not there. Arriving at the rehab center, Maya is ushered in to confront Swain. She introduces herself as Joe's widow and inquiries about Andrew's demise. Her world shatters when Swain alleges that Joe was the one who killed Andrew.
