The eighth episode of "Fool Me Once" opens with Maya confessing to Shane that she took the life of her husband. She reveals that Joe had assassinated Claire, driven by the fear that his secrets would be exposed. Maya, initially in denial, could no longer ignore the hard evidence pointing to Joe's guilt after her meticulous investigation.

After harboring suspicions for several months, Maya entrusted Shane with testing a bullet, hoping to uncover the truth. The results were damning, confirming that Joe had utilized one of their firearms to eliminate her sister. Determined to confront him, Maya summoned Joe to a secluded park, revealing her knowledge of his crime. Anticipating that Joe would be armed, Maya cunningly swapped the deactivated Glock with the murder weapon.

Claire, unbeknownst to them, had been sniffing around, probing into the past and plotting with Corey to dismantle Burkett Global. Joe, fearing that Claire's meddling could expose his dark secrets - including the murders of his brother and Theo - hatched a plan to eliminate her in her own home, staging it as a robbery. He might have escaped undetected had Maya not begun to suspect him.

Yet, Joe remained arrogant, thinking he could evade justice. That fateful night in the park, he attempted to shoot Maya, mocking her inability to prove his guilt. Little did he know that Maya had already switched the guns. With cool calculation, she fired twice, ensuring his fate was sealed. Then, in a brilliant ruse, she staged the scene to appear as a grieving wife, blaming the death on motorbike gang members. To ensure Joe's demise, she delivered a final, fatal shot, bringing an end to Joe's reign of terror.

Maya requested Shane to deposit Izabella and Luca near their abode, allowing them to complete the remainder of their journey on foot. She then retreated to the sanctuary of her home, penning a missive addressed to Lily. As Maya's mind wandered, memories of Joe's duplicity resurfaced. She recalled the instance weeks prior when he borrowed her automobile. Maya suspected that Joe had utilized her vehicle to ferry Tommy and abandon him in the desolate storage unit, a revelation that painted her husband in an even more vile light.

Elsewhere, Rambo's conscience got the better of him, confessing to Kierce that he had witnessed Maya executing her husband. Kierce, determined to unearth the truth, contacted Marty and persuaded him to deploy an ANPR system to track Maya's car. Little did they know, Maya had swapped vehicles with Eddie, leaving them on a wild goose chase.

After a frantic pursuit through the bustling town, Marty and Kierce arrived at Lily's school, only to find Eddie collecting his niece. Eddie revealed that his car was equipped with a tracker, leading them to Maya's residence. Kierce, without hesitation, proceeded to the house and placed Maya under arrest. She pleaded for a moment to confess all, proposing a strategy to expose the sordid secrets that Judith and the rest of the family had been concealing.

Maya forged an alliance with Corey and Kierce, determined to unmask the family's dirty laundry on a global stage. She cleverly utilized the camera embedded in a digital picture frame, positioning it discretely within Judith's abode. Judith, Caroline, and Neil returned home from a meeting, only to be greeted by a startling sight - Maya, waiting for them with a plan to reveal the truth.

Maya confronted Judith, accusing her of attempting to paint her as insane and confessing to Joe's murder. Deliberately, she left her gun resting on a table, a silent testament to her actions. As the two women squared off, discussing Theo, Andrew, Claire, the tainted drugs, and the tangled web of their past, Caroline stood frozen, unable to find her voice.

Judith argued vehemently that they could pin the blame on Joe and escape unscathed. She believed that dwelling on the past served no purpose and that a clean slate awaited them all. But Maya shook her head, insisting that it was too late for such illusions.

Neil, weary of the constant bickering, reached for the gun. He proposed a new narrative: Maya had threatened them, and they had been forced to shoot her in self-defense. Three shots rang out, silencing Maya's voice forever. As she lay dying, a smile played across her face. It was all over, she whispered, and Judith realized with a shudder that Maya had been streaming their confrontation live.

The news spread like wildfire, plunging the Burketts into a maelstrom of legal and financial troubles. Maya's death left Kierce heartsick, but Corey's words brought clarity. Maya had planned it all, leaving the gun unattended as a trap. After taking so many lives, including Joe's, she had wanted an end.

The show drew to a close with a leap forward in time, eighteen years later. Kierce visited Lily in the hospital, where she had just given birth to a beautiful baby girl named Maya. Eddie had raised Lily according to her final wishes, and Kierce had survived the ordeal. Shane remained a constant presence in Lily's life, a reminder of the resilience that love can foster even in the face of tragedy.
