Elsewhere, Ethan offers Margaret a sanctuary from her tumultuous thoughts, but her court-mandated therapy sessions beckon. Their conversation drifts to Dhan, revealing Ethan's lingering hope for reconciliation. Unfortunately, Dhan's new case forces him to cancel lunch plans with Ethan, leaving the latter with a pang of disappointment.
Returning to the office, a new client, Benny, enters their midst, his voice tinged with urgency. He reports that his dear non-binary friend, Rash, a tenacious reporter, has vanished without a trace following an interview with a mysterious source. Benny suspects one of the trolls who previously sent menacing threats could be behind the disappearance. Meanwhile, the media circus and public scrutiny have reignited their fascination with Sir and Gabi. A nostalgic figure from Gabi's past surfaces in an interview, speculating about a consensual relationship between her and Sir. Gabi, however, strives to maintain composure, attempting to detach herself from the Rash case. Zeke, sensing her hesitancy, persuades her otherwise. He reveals a bombshell: he's breached the police database and discovered that Trent is concealing a letter Sir penned to Gabi during Lacey's disappearance. Back in 2003, after narrowly escaping a difficult situation, she found her father too engrossed in his drunken stupor to remember the occasion. Unbeknownst to Gabi, Sir had been watching her from afar in 2003 and witnessed the repeated heartaches she endured due to her father's failures.
After Zeke persuades her to take on the case, Gabi steps up to lead the team with determination. As they delve deeper into the mystery, Lacey discovers fragments of her memory gradually returning. They start by examining Rash's last case, but after consulting their former boss, they come up empty-handed. Gabi then reaches out to the police for assistance and brings Trent into the fold. Trent reveals that Margaret has been messaging him, inquiring about the bus station, despite her request to return there having been indefinitely denied. Gabi volunteers to break the news to Margaret, but she is less than thrilled to learn that Trent is communicating with her former classmate. He insists that he needs to speak with everyone to build a solid case against Margaret.
Gabi hosts a press conference, passionately explaining the importance of finding Rash, despite his unpopularity. She pledges to share information about Sir if they tweet about Rash. During the conference, Gabi cautions the press about Sir's heroic act of saving Charlotte, revealing it as a classic manipulation tactic. Meanwhile, Lacey and Margaret uncover a clue about Rash's unknown source, Wayne, though he doesn't provide much insight. As the investigation intensifies, they realize that Benny has deceived them. Meanwhile, across the town, Dhan and Trent found themselves in a scuffle while searching for the anonymous internet troll who had threatened Rash. Returning to the office, Zeke enabled Margaret to view a live broadcast from the station. Meanwhile, Gabi lost her composure when Sir released a video statement defending her, clarifying that their relationship was purely intellectual and spiritual. Afterwards, Gabi confronted Bradley, but he denied any involvement in Rash's disappearance. Soon, one of Bradley's associates visited the office, enlightening the team about the disturbing truth they had overlooked. It emerged that Bradley had been sexually abusing gay men in his team for years, with Wayne being one of the victims who had backed out at the last minute. The team arrived just in time to save Rash, and Wayne apologized, admitting he had been frightened and didn't want his abuse to be exposed.
