Elsewhere, Victor's frustration mounts with each passing moment, as he grapples with his inability to recall the elusive secret concerning Jasper. Seeking solace, Sara enlists the aid of Tabitha to calm Victor's tumultuous mind. With their collective guidance, Victor's memory finally yields, unveiling that Jasper was not the culprit but, rather, the enigmatic boy clad in white who had engaged Christopher in conversation on that fateful day. The boy had revealed to Christopher tales of children who had been betrayed by those they loved, and how their collective hopes had coalesced into a symbol etched onto the root of a tree within a cave, habitat to mysterious creatures.
