Meanwhile, Maxine beams with joy as she welcomes her grandparents for Thanksgiving, while Marcus finds himself in a less festive mood. His mother attempts to coerce him into attending the dinner, but his indifference is palpable. His thoughts are consumed by Ginny, prompting him to inquire about her wellbeing with Maxine, who remains steadfast in her anger and shows little concern for Ginny's plight.

Elsewhere, Georgia feels the profound void left by her absent children. When Paul asks if she misses them, having heard nothing from them in two weeks, Georgia dismisses her feelings, claiming she's giving them space after their unannounced departure. Paul speculates that their rebellious behavior stems from their mother's impending remarriage, but Georgia swiftly diverts the conversation, revealing her nervousness about meeting Paul's parents. Reassuring her, Paul insists that his folks will adore her.

In a vivid flashback, Ginny relives her conversation with Jesse, where they pondered the possibility of her mother being a murderer. Austin's abrupt interruption pulls her from her reverie, as he eagerly inquires about their return home and expresses puzzlement over their mother's apparent disregard for their disappearance. Disturbingly, Georgia hasn't reached out to them since they fled.

Ginny confides in him, sharing that their mother still cares deeply and suggests he can return home if homesickness overwhelms him. Immediately afterward, Ginny feels a pang of regret, apologizing for her hasty remark. Zion perceives that Ginny's distress stems from her mother's marriage to Paul. He pins his hopes on their Thanksgiving dinner with his parents, hoping it might lift her spirits. However, Zion's family is stunned to learn the latest developments concerning Georgia.

Post-dinner, Zion endeavors to clarify the situation to his kin. His mother and sister can't resist gossiping about Georgia, questioning his choices and urging him to introduce Ginny to their social circle. They convince Zion that Georgia is too engrossed in herself to understand Ginny's needs. Ginny, unfortunately, catches every word of their whispered conversations.

Meanwhile, Georgia attends Thanksgiving dinner at Paul's parents' home, where the evening unfolds smoothly until Paul's mother brings up Georgia's past relationships. As the meal concludes, Paul's parents seek to discuss Georgia with him, highlighting her different background, frequent relocations, her two children from different fathers, and the baggage she carries. Paul's father warns him that Georgia is a woman for enjoyment, not marriage. to cease their criticism of Georgia, asserting that he has considered their concerns but is resolved to marry her out of love. Georgia overhears the exchange yet maintains composure, pretending to continue the after-dinner time as if nothing had happened.

Returning home, Georgia phones Zion, seeking a quarrel. Zion gently reminds her that her behavior stems from missing her children. She implores him to keep their conversation secret from the kids. He urges her to rise above her emotions and promises to bring the children the next day.

Back at her father's, Ginny finds herself consumed by Jesse's revelations. She resumes self-harming, a coping mechanism from her darker days. Overhearing her father on the phone, she inquiries if it's her mother. Zion reveals his plan to take them back the following day. Ginny's anger flares, insisting she knows her mother will pretend nothing is wrong.

She confides in Paul, revealing her reluctance to attend and assuring him that their conversation isn't fueled by any disagreement concerning him. She admits she's not alright and begins to experience a panic attack, her emotions spiraling out of control. Paul, sensing her distress, endeavors to comfort her, urging her to unburden her heart to him. He pledges his unwavering support, promising that her words will not incite his anger but rather, seek to understand her turmoil.

In a moment of vulnerability, she opens up about her self-harming behaviors and hesitantly inquiries about the possibility of residing with him. Zion, determined to support her, vows to secure the assistance she desperately needs. He intends to discuss this matter with Georgia, but Ginny interjects, insisting she can't place her trust in her mother. She reproaches Zion for his past absences, feeling abandoned during her darkest hours.

The following day, Ginny returns Marcus's bike, accompanied by a heartfelt apology. Though she's thrilled to reunite with her siblings, the anticipated Friday gathering fails to ignite the expected joy. Zion attempts to broach the subject of Ginny's desire to live with him to Georgia, but she refuses, hurt by Ginny's choice of her father over her. As Zion endeavors to disclose Ginny's self-harm, Ginny intervenes, deciding instead to relocate back with Georgia.

Flashing back to a pivotal night, we witness Georgia's reaction upon discovering Ginny and Austin's departure. Realizing Ginny has stumbled upon secrets Georgia had longed to keep concealed, a storm of emotions brews within her.

Meanwhile, amidst the unraveling chaos at Georgia's home, Jesse persists in uncovering Georgia's hidden past. Ginny, torn and confused, confides in Marcus, expressing her despair over her fractured family. He, empathetic to her plight, offers his understanding and companionship. Ginny, seeking solace, asks him to stay the night, and he, compassionate, agrees.
