Good Omens – Season 2 Episode 1

Published: May 22 2026

The episode begins with Angel Crowley, standing in the grandeur of space, creating a swirling nebula with a helping hand from Aziraphale. Excited by their task, Crowley soon learns from Aziraphale that God's plan involves ending it all in 6,000 years—due to humans. Yep, humans are the center of existence, with the nebula and its stars merely a fancy backdrop for their gaze. Crowley's enthusiasm wanes as he ponders his next steps. Aziraphale warns him against questioning God, but Crowley wonders what the worst could happen. They enjoy the view together, with Crowley covering Aziraphale with his wings as stars are born.

Good Omens – Season 2 Episode 1 1

The scene shifts to present-day London, where landlord Aziraphale is forgoing rent from Maggie, who struggles to keep her record shop afloat. Instead, he requests some records in exchange. Meanwhile, Crowley is reading a newspaper and complaining about how pointless life is when Shax visits him. She hints that something is up and asks if he knows anything about it. He brushes it off.

Maggie is getting friendly with the coffee shop owner Nina, who knows her as a regular. Their conversation is cut short when they and the rest of the street notice a naked Gabriel walking towards Aziraphale's bookshop with a box. Aziraphale is shocked not only to see Gabriel naked but also that the archangel doesn't seem to remember him. In a roundabout way, Aziraphale finally gleans out bits and pieces—something terrible happened to Gabriel, so he left, he has a box that is important, and he thinks Aziraphale can help. The box seems empty except for an insect which Aziraphale doesn't notice.

Meanwhile, Archangel Michael has declared that anyone found helping Gabriel will face "extreme sanctions." Crowley is trying to show Shax the ropes, who not only calls but also teleports to give him news. Gabriel is in trouble, and Crowley is delighted. However, Aziraphale is not delighted; he's trying to get answers out of an amnesiac Gabriel, who is simply fascinated by hot chocolate. Aziraphale decides to hide him by giving him the name Jim and calling Crowley for help. The duo meets at Nina's cafe, where she asks Aziraphale about his naked friend, confusing Crowley.

Aziraphale acts weirder than usual, making the demon guess that something is up. They head back to the bookshop, and Crowley gets a jump scare as he spots a naked Gabriel covered in just a blanket. While Aziraphale wants to help him, Crowley doesn't want anything to do with the archangel who had tried to kill them. They part ways as Aziraphale refuses to let Crowley dump Gabriel somewhere.

Just as Nina is closing for the night, Maggie arrives with a record for her. But when the cafe owner doesn't show any enthusiasm, Maggie is awkward and apologizes. Nina also lets it known that she has a partner, Lindsay, who doesn't like it when she's late and doesn't text back.

Outside, the rage of Crowley boiled over, his anger unbridled as he erupted into a fury that could be heard around him. The ensuing lightning strike accidentally cut the power to Nina's café, trapping her and Maggie inside with dead phones.

Upstairs, Uriel and Michael were locked in a tense standoff, debating who should replace Gabriel as the supreme archangel. A lower-level angel, Muriel, intervened with a clue - a matchbox adorned with a Bible verse from Job. Although seemingly insignificant, it provided a crucial lead - it had something to do with Gabriel and his presence on Earth.

As for Crowley, Beelzebub paid him a visit and whisked him back to Hell. The demon offered a tempting proposal - bring Gabriel back in exchange for a substantial promotion. He also warned that Heaven was not pleased and anyone seen aiding Gabriel would face 'extreme sanctions,' essentially erasing them from existence. Poor Crowley panicked for his friend and rushed back to the bookstore.

Meanwhile, Maggie and Nina tried to bond as they were stuck without power. Nina couldn't fathom why Maggie ran a record shop in this digital age, while Maggie revealed that the shop was her family's legacy and part of the Fell Bookshop, which explained why Aziraphale was always kind to her. Nina, on the other hand, drank and worried about Lindsay, who was probably annoyed by her tardiness. They spotted Crowley approaching and called out for help. He simply restored the power, shocking them both.

Back in the bookstore, Aziraphale played hard to get and demanded an apology dance from Crowley. When he refused, Aziraphale reminded him of all the times he had to do it (Cromwell's rise, French Revolution, World War II - did Crowley predict these moments and Aziraphale refused to believe him?). Crowley gave in and burst into a little song and dance, satisfying the angel.

Back to business, they devised a plan to hide Gabriel. They each performed half a miracle to conceal the archangel from Heaven and Hell, believing that no alarm bells would go off in either sector. However, Heaven was abuzz with alarms, and the archangels had noticed that Aziraphale had performed a half miracle. Michael deduced that he knew something.
