Good Partner – Season 1 Episode 14 1

As Eun-kyung prepares to embark on a new journey, Yu-ri, her protégée, expresses a longing to follow in her footsteps. Yet, Eun-kyung encourages her to deepen her roots within the firm, envisioning a future where they'll reunite as equals, partners in law. Despite the finality of leaving behind a 15-year career, Eun-kyung feels an inexplicable sense of liberation, embarking on her solo venture, conveniently situated near Jae-hui's school. Meanwhile, Woo-jin ascends to the helm of the firm, officially assuming the role of managing partner.

With Daejeong undergoing a transformation, Woo-jin extends to Yu-ri a choice: join the PIL department or pursue her dream of entering the corporate law department. Eun-ho, on the other hand, declares his commitment to the divorce department. Over lunch, Eun-ho and Yu-ri share a candid conversation, revealing that Yu-ri has emerged as a "legal influencer," her advocacy in their last case resonating with the public.

In parallel, Eun-kyung finds herself in a new office but lacking in clients, a minor setback that fails to dampen her spirits. She has found harmony between her professional and personal life. Yu-ri seeks her counsel on her departmental choice, but Eun-kyung wisely reminds her that the answer lies within.

Amidst these transitions, a former client seeks Eun-kyung's assistance, only to be redirected to Yu-ri. Ironically, a desperate woman seeking urgent legal aid arrives at Yu-ri's door, only to be guided towards Eun-kyung. Despite their distinct paths, Eun-kyung and Yu-ri continue to support each other, demonstrating the resilience of their bond.

This woman's story is a harrowing one: She was married for 26 years to a gambler who squandered not only her savings but also her fortune and was now offering to sell off what little land she had left. When she tried to intervene, he kicked her out of the house. The crux of the matter is that their union was never legally registered, a shocking fact that highlights the complexity of their predicament.

It transpires that the husband's devious scheme was well-laid from the very start, explaining his relentless refusal to formalize their union through marriage registration. When he approaches Eun-kyung, she cunningly offers him a mutually advantageous resolution, turning the tables on him.

Concurrently, Yu-ri finds herself entangled once again with a wavering client, a woman whose indecisiveness over divorce had previously led to accusations against Yu-ri for her husband's attempted suicide. This time, the stakes are higher as Yu-ri discovers that her client has been diagnosed with stage 3 uterine cancer, her resolve to end her marriage shaken by the weight of her illness and life's hardships. Yu-ri vows to stand by her, offering a beacon of hope amidst the storm.

Eun-kyung's intuition about her client's gambling addict husband proves spot-on. Fearful of losing the lucrative land sale profits to his estranged wife, he reluctantly complies with the settlement terms, sending over the funds that seal the case's conclusion. To celebrate, Eun-kyung treats her client to a heartfelt dinner, where the grateful woman reveals that Yu-ri was the one who steered her towards Eun-kyung's expertise.

In a triumphant turn, Yu-ri manages to persuade her client's husband to grant her a divorce, earning the woman's heartfelt gratitude for being the most compassionate lawyer she's ever encountered. Moreover, she shares that it was Eun-kyung who initially directed her to Yu-ri's care, fostering a beautiful chain of support.

This experience serves as a pivotal moment for Yu-ri, realizing her innate talent in navigating divorce cases with empathy, efficiency, and a keen eye for facilitating her clients' paths forward. Inspired, she decides to solidify her place within the divorce team. To mark Eun-kyung's fresh start, Yu-ri, Eun-ho, and Woo-jin visit her office, their camaraderie palpable as they offer their congratulations.

The episode concludes on a poignant yet empowering note, with Eun-kyung and Yu-ri enjoying a bonding evening only to promptly agree on the following day's courtroom battle, emphasizing their evolution from mentor-mentee to fellow professionals, united in their pursuit of justice and the well-being of their clients.
