Episode 2 commences with Dr. Miranda firmly taking the reins of the interns' training, following Nick's departure to Boston in the previous episode. Miranda underscores the vast knowledge the interns must acquire before venturing into the OR or wielding a scalpel. She hands them procedure logs and sternly commands them to fulfill every task on the list. As Miranda moves on with her day, she entrusts the supervision of the interns to Schmitt and Helm, who promptly divide them into two groups.

In another wing of the hospital, Teddy is recovering steadily. When Yusuda enters, Teddy discreetly requests her to monitor certain patients and relay the findings back to her.

Suddenly, the Best family rushes into the hospital, each with a dire medical concern. One member has a deep cut on their leg, another struggles to move their hand, and the situation appears dire. Concurrently, paramedics rush in with an unidentified man, a gunshot wound to his chest. Miranda steps forward to take command, and Winston joins her side. While treating the patient, they uncover a surprising amount of money hidden in his clothing.

As they work tirelessly to save him, his blood pressure plummets dangerously. However, Kwan's swift actions manage to restore his heartbeat. When Kwan begs to assist in surgery, Miranda sternly refuses, citing his incomplete procedure logs. This angers Winston, who believes Miranda is being overly rigorous with the interns. Thankfully, the patient, later identified as Dorian, survives the ordeal. Kwan updates Dorian's parents on his condition and guides them to the ICU, where they can see him for themselves.

Meanwhile, Schmitt and Warren are examining Dante Collier, a 33-year-old baker scheduled for surgery for cholecystitis. Warren informs Schmitt that he will lead the surgery, while Warren himself will assist. While Simone analyzes the results, she makes a startling discovery: Dante has AIDS. When she attempts to confirm this, Dante demands to see a different doctor. Despite Warren confirming the diagnosis, Dante becomes enraged and decides to leave. However, as his condition worsens, he eventually relents and agrees to undergo the surgery. Fortunately, the procedure is a success, and Dante is expected to make a complete recovery.

Amelia scrutinized Allie intently, her eyes narrowed in suspicion of a spinal injury. She promptly recommended an MRI, and the scan's chilling revelation—spinal discs compressing a vital nerve, threatening the unborn baby's life if left untreated—set the tone for an urgent intervention.

Inside the operating room, tensions mounted as the baby's heartbeat plummeted, forcing the doctors to make a split-second decision for a C-section. The surgery unfolded with precision and urgency, and soon, Allie gave birth to a radiant baby girl. Amelia reassured the Best family that Allie's full recovery was anticipated.

As for the MVP title, it was awarded to Dr. Jules, whose dedication throughout the day caring for the entire family was unparalleled.

As the day drew to a close, Owen stole a moment with his wife, Teddy, in her room. He tenderly kissed her forehead and urged her to prioritize her health, adhering to the advice of her doctor—who was also her beloved husband.

Later, Amelia extended an invitation to Winston, offering to share a burger and unwind after the hectic day.

Simone returned home, her expression weighted with concern. She broke the news to Lucas that the present wasn't the ideal time for their relationship to blossom. The revelation stung Lucas, who felt like he had always been relegated to Simone's second priority. With a heavy heart, he declared that henceforth, they would remain mere roommates, nothing more and nothing less.
