Grey’s Anatomy - Season 20 Episode 9 1

Maggie returns to the hospital, her first visit in quite some time, to attend to a patient. Her encounter with Winston is anything but smooth, leaving them both feeling awkward. Altman and Bailey inform Adams that Sam Sutton's family has reached a settlement with the hospital, but he has been advised to repeat his intern year.

Winston and Beltran team up to treat a teenager desperately needing a heart and lung transplant. Maggie approaches Adams, requesting his assistance with her patient, whose transplanted organs are being rejected, leaving him with the grim prognosis of needing a new heart or facing mortality.

Amelia arrives unannounced at Meredith's Boston abode, carrying their research to hide it from Catherine's prying eyes. Meredith and Amelia voice their apprehensions to Altman, fearing that Catherine has uncovered their secret.

Winston extends an invitation to Maggie to join him in the operating room for his transplant patient, remembering her as a previous caregiver. Despite the tense history, the two manage to find a moment of levity, joking with each other.

Altman calls upon Millin and Blue to assist in inputting the Alzheimer's data into the computer system. Meanwhile, Jo and Link engage in a heated debate over the best treatment plan for a patient.

Amelia fears that their groundbreaking research may invalidate all the hard work Derek had dedicated to this cause.

Ndugu and Beltran's transplant patient offers a ray of hope for Maggie's patient, with the possibility of donating his rejected organs. Altman reveals to Hunt that he's been secretly funding Meredith's research, and soon after, Owen confesses his visit to Catherine to seek funding for his first aid training initiative. Despite the damage, the doctors are optimistic they can repair the discarded heart and offer it to Maggie's patient. Nick professes his love for Meredith and expresses frustration over her risking her job and stability in her quest to bypass Catherine. Link bypasses Jo and approaches Carina to voice his concerns about her patient. Meredith and Amelia's eyes widen as they realize their hypothesis could potentially prevent Alzheimer's, leading Amelia to decide that the data is too significant to keep hidden.

Maggie extends a job offer to Adams in Chicago, while Winston deftly avoids Maggie's attempted kiss. He's finally ready to move on and hands her the signed divorce papers. Adams reveals to Griffin that he's considering Maggie's job offer. Bailey expresses her pride in the interns' growth and development. Yasuda shocks Helm by ending their relationship in the middle of the E.R., citing the imbalance of power as her reason. Altman informs Catherine of his support for Meredith's project, earning a compliment for his honesty but also an obvious outburst of anger. Jo and Link reconcile, deciding to keep their work and home lives separate. Winston and Beltran find solace in their shared experience of divorce, which leads to an unexpected bond and a hookup. Meredith and Nick clash over her prioritization of work over their relationship. The funding issue finally catches up with Teddy, resulting in her dismissal by Catherine.
