In the sixth episode of "Had I Not Seen the Sun," Jen-yao's journey through the realm of hallucinations begins with an injection that plunges him into a reality-bending abyss. His mother, in his delirious vision, coldly dispatches his father, and he flees the house in a panic, unable to reach out to Hsiao-tung, who stands as a distant figure in the periphery of his vision.

As consciousness slowly creeps back into Jen-yao's being, the gang leader's stern advice echoes in his ears: leave the neighborhood and never look back, or face the unspeakable consequences of another injection.
Meanwhile, in another corner of the tale, Yun-chen's grandmother summons her for dinner, requesting a pot of tea. Yun-chen obliges, her fingers deftly sprinkling crushed sleeping pills into the brew. As she watches her grandmother slumber peacefully, her heart races with the thrill of escape. But her grandmother's shrewd gaze reveals her handiwork, and instead of succumbing to slumber, she pretends to sleep, harboring a secret agony that stems from the loss of her son and the relentless resemblance between Yun-chen and her deceased child. She pleads with Yun-chen not to leave, but her words fall on deaf ears as Yun-chen pushes past her, sending her crashing to the ground with a thud.
In a desperate bid for freedom, Yun-chen grabs a knife from the kitchen. However, Hsiang-tung arrives just in time, interceding and guiding her away from the brink of tragedy. Meanwhile, Jen-yao packs his bags with a sense of resolve, selling his motorcycle to fund his ticket to Taipei. His bus pulls away just as Hsiao-tung and Yun-chen arrive at the bus station, their paths momentarily intertwined in a cosmic dance of fate.
Yun-chen ignores her grandmother's persistent calls, her mind set on a new path of freedom. Now that she has escaped her grandmother's clutches, she vows never to return, determined to make Taipei her new haven after high school.
Jen-yao arrives in Taipei, her steps echoing through the streets as she reflects on Hsiao-tung. A memory from their past lingers: Hsiao-tung, once in her home, had asked about a moth she had spotted. She explained that moths are naturally drawn to the moon but mistake the bright lights for its beckoning. Jen-yao muses that moths, unaware of their futile circular journeys, differ from butterflies who soar in the sun, their potential boundless. She believes that moths and butterflies cannot coexist in the same space, each representing a different state of consciousness.
Fate brings Jen-yao face to face with Hsiao-tung in Taipei. They had booked a bus to a different destination, but Yun-chen's unfamiliarity with Taipei prompted a last-minute change of plans. The trio spends the night and the next day exploring Taipei, snapping photos at a photo booth, savoring the culinary delights and even venturing to the sea. As they play at the shore, Hsiao-tung makes them promise to return to this spot together again someday.
As night falls, Yun-chen reveals her true purpose in coming to Taipei—a quest for answers that would lead her away forever. So, Jen-yao and Hsiao-tung reunites Yun-chen with her mother. Hsiao-tung returns home that night, leaving Jen-yao with a newfound resolve. She promises Hsiao-tung to witness her dance at the upcoming event.
Fast forward to 2023, Ta-wei visits Jen-yao's old high school with a request for information on Hsiao-tung. He seeks the teacher in charge of Jen-yao's class back then, but she brushes him off angrily, choosing to storm out of the office rather than face the aftermath of Jen-yao's actions. Another teacher gently explains that no teacher wishes their students to become criminals; the constant media scrutiny and harassment following Jen-yao's confession had taken its toll, especially on the homeroom teacher.
Ta-wei tenderly presents the teacher with a picture of Jen-yao and Hsiao-tung, only to be met with a stern warning against discussing the incident due to the pervasive rumor that Hsiao-tung had taken her own life. The teacher, her voice laden with empathy, shares that if she were in Hsiao-tung's shoes, the trauma she endured would have likely driven her to the same fate.
Meanwhile, Pin-yu stumbles into Yun-chen's bar, her step laden with unspoken weight. She confides in Yun-chen about the depth of Hsiao-tung's disclosure to her, revealing that since their first encounter, Hsiao-tung had been known to her by a name other than Shen-mu.
Following their conversation with the teacher, Ta-wei delves deeper into Hsiao-tung's past, stumbling upon a gruesome video titled "Talented High School Ballerina versus Six." The footage depicts Hsiao-tung being relentlessly assaulted by a pack of students, both boys and girls, their voices echoing with a cacophony of abuse. They coerce her into stripping while their cameras roll, capturing every moment of her humiliation.
Ta-wei's heart races as he pauses the video, his eyes widening in horror. The emotional turmoil overwhelms him, and he begins to weep, the tears streaming down his face as he processes the unspeakable cruelty inflicted upon Hsiao-tung.
