Episode 2 of "Head Over Heels" kicks off with the lingering chaos of the bathroom debacle, where students are collectively sentenced to menial cleaning duties as punishment. Gyeon-woo's suspicions towards Sung-ah intensify following the incident, particularly as she struggles to provide a plausible explanation for her erratic behavior.
Shortly thereafter, while scrubbing the school's premises, Sung-ah encounters another malevolent spirit, imprisoned within the confines of the storeroom. At home, her spiritual mother bestows upon her a new collection of charms, meticulously crafted by the same shaman Sung-ah had previously consulted, after her previous set was lost in battle against the aquatic apparition.
The subsequent day, Sung-ah is singularly focused on placing the charms close to Gyeon-woo for his protection. With Ji-ho's connivance, she resorts to stealing his phone, and while covertly inserting the charm inside its case, they are caught red-handed by Gyeon-woo's grandmother, who had popped in for a visit. The duo hastily concocts a tale about finding the phone, just as Gyeon-woo arrives on the scene. Sung-ah persists in suggesting a communal meal, hoping to sneakily deploy more charms within his bedroom.
Over a sumptuous feast orchestrated by Gyeon-woo's grandmother, it transpires that Gyeon-woo's life has been marked by hardship, absent his parents. Sung-ah reciprocates by revealing her own abandonment by biological parents and her life with an adoptive mother. As the meal concludes, Ji-ho and Sung-ah, seeking to conceal the charms, stumble upon Gyeon-woo's collection of medals from his days as a celebrated archer. Gyeon-woo's entrance interrupts their discovery, and he reveals his withdrawal from the sport, abruptly severing ties with them, citing his aversion to people.
Despite these obstacles, Sung-ah manages to sneak the charms into his room. As she prepares to depart for her client appointments, Gyeon-woo's grandmother bids her farewell, acknowledging Sung-ah as the shaman and expressing gratitude for her care towards Gyeon-woo.
The following day, a revelation rocks the student body: Gyeon-woo, once an esteemed archer, is uncovered as being entangled in an arson incident at his previous academic institution. This news spreads with the fervor of a prairie fire, isolating him from his peers. Yet, Sung-ah stands firm in her resolve to lend him a helping hand, unwavering in her belief that he possesses a good heart.
Later that same day, as Gyeon-woo makes his way back home, his grandmother sets out with a basket of food, intended for a friend who, to his astonishment, turns out to be Sung-ah. Driven by misunderstanding, Gyeon-woo trails after them and lambasts Sung-ah, mistaking her kindness for exploiting his grandmother's services as a shaman. down amidst flames, realizing that his brush with death is intrinsically tied to fire.
The subsequent day, Gyeon-woo ventures into the storage room, acutely aware of the discomfort his classmates exude in his presence. Suddenly, a blaze erupts, casting the room into chaos. Sung-ah uncovers the truth: the shaman, harboring resentment towards her spiritual mother, had sabotaged the protective charms.
With urgency, she dashes to the storeroom and rescues Gyeon-woo, who has been imprisoned by his guilt, reliving the harrowing moment when a friend perished in a fire alongside him. It transpires that the specter lurking in the storeroom was the one assaulting him. Ji-ho arrives on the scene, fire extinguisher in hand, just in the nick of time to lend a helping hand. However, whispers of suspicion still subtly linger around Gyeon-woo within the school's corridors.
As he exits the premises, he is approached by the school's archery coach, who recognizes him from a championship where he triumphed with a gold medal. The coach, having engaged in a conversation with Gyeon-woo's former mentor, comprehends the depth of his abandonment by teammates and the weight of unfounded rumors that have plagued him.
In spite of this, the coach harbors a desire to assist Gyeon-woo in his return to the world of archery. However, Gyeon-woo politely declines, voicing his reluctance to let his grandmother witness him being despised once more. Concurrently, Gyeon-woo's grandmother pays a visit to Sung-ah, beseeching her with tears in her eyes to show kindness towards him. She unfolds the tale of how misfortunes have relentlessly haunted him, to the extent that even his own parents have severed ties with him. It is at this poignant moment that Sung-ah realizes with a shock that the woman addressing her is none other than Gyeon-woo's grandmother's spirit; she has passed away and is now in the realm beyond. The ethereal spirit, with a heartfelt plea, urges Sung-ah to be by Gyeon-woo's side now that he stands utterly alone in this world.
Driven by an urgent sense of duty, Sung-ah dashes to the funeral home clad in her shamanic attire. But Gyeon-woo, his heart heavy with sorrow, intercepts her. The episode concludes on a poignant and emotionally charged note, with the two of them locked in a silent, heart-wrenching standoff.
