High Potential – Season 2 Episode 6

As the call for a dead body in a Victorian home echoes through the eerie autumn air, Morgan can't resist but to mention the festive nature of Halloween, the day that brings together the unusual and the unexplained. This marks their inaugural case as a dynamic duo, and we're privy to a glimpse into Karadec's past—a young boy who always donned the uniform of a cop for Halloween, embracing the role of the protector.

High Potential – Season 2 Episode 6 1

The case unfolds in a whimsical manner, taking cues from the spooky setting and reports of a woman in white wandering the house. The tale of a woman who met her demise within its walls leads to an even more enigmatic story—a ghostly presence that haunts the premises. Danny, the late owner, was a firm believer in this supernatural narrative, even going so far as to engage a psychic to rid the house of its spectral occupant.

Morgan's keen detective instincts quickly uncover the woman's fraudulent nature, though she insists she had no hand in Danny's demise. After all, ending her most lucrative client's life wouldn't do wonders for her business prospects.

The police venture back to the house, their path illuminated by fleeting clues—the wail of a woman's voice echoing through different corners of the mansion. Morgan stumbles upon a bag of equipment hidden in the vents, while Karadec uncovers a bride in disguise lurking in the basement. With the ghostly bride in handcuffs, it seems they've made a significant breakthrough.

Her employer, the second wife, emerges as the primary suspect amidst her divorce with Danny. However, there's a twist—the house was solely in Danny's name, and she desired it for herself. With Danny gone, the property would have been inherited by his daughter from his first marriage. Therefore, her motive for his murder is non-existent. So, who then?

Morgan unravels the mystery, but their quest for the woman's incriminating act necessitates a cunning plan. Fortuitously, the daughter volunteers to aid in this crucial phase, turning to the psychic for a second cleansing of the space. The woman gleefully obliges, luring her into another room to seize a diamond necklace. Morgan's insight stems from the unique oils she employs, preserving the diamonds' luster during handling. Once the deception is exposed in the act, the case becomes a straightforward resolution.

We catch a glimpse of the other subplots in the series. Wagner decides to question the ghost bride, revealing his investigative style. Though he excels at his job, his decision to keep his intentions in the room a secret seems illogical. His inquiries about Morgan's marital status hint at her unease, but is he using all his observations to discredit her or to recognize her as a vital piece in the Major Crimes puzzle? I fervently hope we're not destined for a typical villain.

Then there's the Roman plot. After Ava endures a silent treatment throughout 'High Potential' season 2, episode 6 concludes with Morgan sharing Ava's backpack contents, some already in Soto's possession for analysis. An item connects Ava to her first-grade recital, proving Roman's presence, lurking in the shadows. This suggests he didn't truly want to abandon his family, indicating the show should diverge from its French counterpart. He kept tabs on them, but clearly something was amiss that kept him at a distance. My query now: how did Morgan miss him?
