In The Mud – Season 1 Episode 7 1

The narrative shifts to the sterile environment of an operating room, where Cecilia confronts Dr. Soriano, accusing him of a gross dereliction of duty that has resulted in the deaths of two pregnant inmates within the span of two months. Soriano, unrepentant, counters by implication that Cecilia shares the blame, asserting that her insistence on separating the unborn children from their mothers against their will played a pivotal role. Cecilia, steadfast in her conviction, clarifies that her sole intention was to provide a brighter future for those innocent lives.

Soriano, unyielding, dares Cecilia to expose him, vowing to drag her down in the process if she does. Cecilia, however, remains undeterred, pointing out that Governor Andrés, entangled in his own web of favors, will remain a non-intervening spectator. Elsewhere within the prison walls, Gladys returns after undergoing a biopsy, her spirits perhaps dampened but not broken. She engages in a poignant conversation with Alan, where they mutually lament the alarming frequency of inmate deaths while under hospital care during their incarceration.

In the dimly lit visiting room, Luna's eyes pierced through the shadows as she inquired of Marina whether she had any inkling of being recorded by Dario during her intimate encounter with Martin. Marina, her brow furrowed in sincerity, vowed she was utterly unaware of such a clandestine action.

Luna pressed further, urging Marina to revisit the haze of the night Martin met his demise, wondering aloud if perhaps Dario had been an unseen presence amidst their company. Marina, willing to reconsider, agreed to ponder over it and assured Luna of their next meeting during her hearing.

Elsewhere, in the sterile confines of the hospital, Antín paid a visit to Gladys, unveiling the chilling tale of Cecilia's involvement in a child trafficking network. He beseeched Gladys to unearth concrete evidence against Cecilia, but Gladys, her resolve hardening, declined to lend him further aid.

Revealing a new wrinkle, Gladys informed Antín that Cecilia had approached Yael with the proposition of having her daughter adopted by the influential governor and his wife. Antín, undeterred, renewed his plea, promising Gladys freedom from her prison cell if she would assist him in his quest.

Within the walls of the prison, China had forged an unlikely alliance with Amparo. Zurda, handed over the monthly payment to Amparo, only to have her greedy demands for more escalate. With a chilling threat hanging over her husband Lalo's well-being, Zurda's courage faltered, and she capitulated to Amparo's increased demands.

Concurrently, Cecilia exerted her influence on Elba, urging her to persuade Yael to surrender Brisa for adoption. Reminding Elba of a past obligation, Cecilia wielded an invisible lever that compelled Elba's compliance. Meanwhile, Soledad found herself assigned to the menial task of cleaning Cecilia's cabin, unaware of the darker currents swirling around her.

Victoria and Zurda entreat Marina to prepare herself for a conjugal visit, yet this time, Marina demands double her usual compensation, to which Zurda acquiesces without hesitation. Just as things seem to be settling, China bursts onto the scene, causing a commotion with Marina. Zurda, growing increasingly agitated, forcefully ejects China from their midst. Victoria, observing this altercation, can't help but notice a marked shift in Zurda's demeanor.

Within the confines of the family unit, Elba endeavors to offer Yael some counsel regarding the possibility of surrendering Brisa for adoption. However, Yael brushes off Elba's advice and whisks Brisa away. Simultaneously, Zurda approaches Gladys, pleading for her assistance in bringing Amparo to justice. Gladys declines, but Olga, seeking a private moment with Zurda, suggests another course of action she might undertake.

In the sanctuary of the shower, Yael confides in Gladys about Brisa's peculiar behavior following her visit with Eugenia. Doubts begin to creep into Yael's mind, casting aspersions on her parenting abilities. Gladys, sensing Yael's turmoil, strives to reassure her, hinting at acquiring concrete evidence to implicate Cecilia. Yael proposes that they might uncover confidential documents in Cecilia's office as a means to that end.

Later that day, Alan engages Cecilia in a conversation about Dr. Soriano's suitability in aiding the inmates, suggesting he was not the optimal choice. Cecilia reminds Alan of the scarcity of resources and funds that hampered her efforts.

Meanwhile, Alan's heroics shine through as he rescues Marina from a client who attempts to overpower and rape her during a conjugal visit. Elsewhere, Olga enlists the aid of a female guard named Selva to administer a sedative to Amparo. Initially resistant, Amparo eventually capitulates when Selva invokes Dr. Soriano's authority.

Concurrently, China asserts its dominance over Zurda's unit, seeking to巩固its position. Elsewhere, Coco imparts grave news to Cleo: the police have discovered her son, who was being illegally transported across borders with the assistance of her ex-boyfriend's family.

Zurda informs the women that the brothel has shut its doors. Victoria, concerned about Zurda's escalating behavior, confides in Gladys, seeking her assistance to bring her sister-in-law down. Alan attempts to assess Marina's wellbeing, cautioning her against pushing the limits. Inside the prison, turmoil erupts as Zurda's women launch a violent attack on Amparo's supporters, armed with knives and other weapons. The guards intervene, managing to separate the combatants, yet Rocky manages to slash Cachete's face in retribution for betraying Maria.

The following morning, Yael notices Brisa's soaring fever and grows anxious. She rushes Brisa to see Dr. Soriano, who refuses to treat the young girl, insisting instead that she see a paediatrician. To Yael's astonishment, Andrés unexpectedly arrives and offers to take Brisa to the doctor, promising to return her once she is recovered. With few alternatives, Yael reluctantly sends her daughter away. Meanwhile, Cecilia tries to persuade Yael to sign the adoption papers, causing her to faint.

Gladys requests a private meeting with Soledad, urging her to search for documents or legal papers that could incriminate Cecilia. Elsewhere, Amparo notices her skin breaking out in rashes and blisters, suspecting Olga's handiwork and growing furious.

At the courthouse, Luna discovers that Marina's former attorney, Zárate, had taken crucial evidence from police custody but never returned it. Luna confronts Zárate, who feigns ignorance. When Luna persists, Zárate attacks her and her friend before fleeing the scene. Dr. Soriano, following Cecilia's orders, drugs Yael and places her in solitary confinement. Meanwhile, Gladys and Soledad sneak into Cecilia's office in search of incriminating documents. Alan catches them going through the files, but Gladys说服 him to examine one of the documents to distract him from alerting other guards. The episode concludes with Amparo stabbing Olga in the eye, exacting justice for her deeds.
