Episode 8 of *Invasion* kicks off with Mitsuki's captivating subplot. She has wholeheartedly immersed herself in the arduous task of deciphering the enigmatic language of the aliens. Her dedication has been so intense and unrelenting that she is teetering on the edge of a nervous breakdown. Dr. Maya Castillo steps in, recognizing the perilous state Mitsuki is in, and urgently requests her to take a much - needed break. Without conducting timely baseline tests, Mitsuki runs the risk of following in the footsteps of the “others.” This term refers to the previous group of scientists who, after entering the chamber, were left utterly speechless.
Suddenly, a moment of epiphany strikes Mitsuki. She realizes that these seemingly mute scientists might hold the key to the puzzle. As she surveys the room filled with these silent scholars, she comes to the profound conclusion that they haven't truly lost their ability to communicate. Instead, they are communicating in the alien language, a realization that sends a shiver down her spine.
Nikhil, however, is far from pleased when he catches sight of Mitsuki “wasting her time” on these so - called burnout scientists. When Maya raises her voice in protest against Nikhil's erratic and impatient methods, he accurately surmises that Maya harbors romantic feelings for Mitsuki. Determined to get his way, Nikhil approaches Mitsuki directly and attempts to manipulate her into re - entering the chamber. His sole motivation is to have Mitsuki engage in a fierce battle against the alien force and produce tangible results that will impress the World Defense Council (WDC).
Maya, unable to tolerate Nikhil's ruthless tactics any longer, tenders her resignation and prepares to leave the base. Nikhil, undeterred, starts making preparations to enter the chamber alongside Mitsuki. But just as they are about to proceed, the engineers intervene, informing them that all of Mitsuki's suits, including the backup ones, have been short - circuited and are now completely useless.
Nikhil, furious, confronts Maya, who is on the verge of exiting the base. Unflinchingly, Maya takes the blame for the suit malfunction. In a bold move, she challenges Nikhil, saying that if he is so deeply committed to the cause, he should venture into the chamber all by himself.
The episode then takes us to an anticlimactic scene where Trev's daring attempts to break into the hatch in the hole prove to be in vain. He is swiftly apprehended by military personnel and thrown into lockup. On his way there, Trev's eyes widen in shock as he spots a room filled with people who have strange contraptions attached to their heads. It appears as if they are the subjects of some sinister experiment.
General Mitchell sits down with Trev to discuss his predicament. He coldly rejects Trev's desperate pleas to understand what the military is concealing in the hole and how they managed to bring those people in the room “back from the aliens.”
Meanwhile, in a tense and dramatic turn of events at the police station, Rose pulls out a gun and points it straight at Wade's head before locking him up. Her intention is clear: she wants Wade to comprehend the gravity of the situation and be made aware of the secrets the government is keeping from them at the Shelton farm. Before leaving, she hands Wade a notebook and earnestly asks him to take its contents seriously.
The intrepid kids' brigade has successfully pinpointed the clandestine facility harboring all the "special kids." To their immense relief, they discover that all the children are alive. It's almost as if they share an unspoken, telepathic bond with Caspar, capable of communicating even through the thickest of walls without uttering a single word. Guided by this silent connection, Caspar leads them to a room where a soldier, poised to shoot, is intercepted by Dr. Esmee. She had been caring for Caspar during his coma and is now utterly astounded to behold him alive. Dr. Gabriel, who was also present at the hospital, is equally taken aback to find Caspar unscathed, both physically and mentally. The hospital had been overrun mere hours after their departure, leading him to speculate that perhaps Caspar isn't the same boy they once knew and that he might have received "assistance" from extraterrestrial beings.
Suddenly, memories flood back to the other children. They vividly recall being with Caspar in a realm of "darkness." Though Caspar never awoke, all these children, gathered from hospitals worldwide, did. They bear the same psychic scars from the alien invasion. Penny proposes an idea: they should attempt to sketch a map of the place they were held captive. Jamila engages in conversation with a girl proficient in English, who reveals that they weren't calling out for Caspar at all. Instead, they were summoning "someone else," someone still out there, whose name is Mitsuki!
In an instant, alarms blaze throughout the Amazon lab, signaling imminent danger. Nikhil valiantly battles the alien menace, determined to obliterate it. He has breached every safety protocol, rendering extraction impossible. All other locations face a similar dire fate. At the French lab, a stark contrast emerges: only Caspar remains unaffected by epileptic seizures, while the other children succumb. Mitsuki watches in horror as the alien force engulfs Nikhil, who then vanishes from the room. Spotted lurking outside, he is swiftly brought to safety by Mitsuki, with Maya halting in her tracks the moment Nikhil triggers the alien's wrath.
The President of the WDC calls, and Mitsuki answers. She receives a stern directive to cease any actions that might have been inadvertently set in motion. Risking her life, Mitsuki ventures back into the lab, sans protective suit, in a desperate attempt to pacify the situation. The alien consumes her, just as it did Nikhil. In a daring move, Mitsuki cranks up all the frequencies in the room, unleashing a destructive force upon the alien. She is expelled, landing on the ground, unconscious. Miraculously, all seismic activity ceases the moment she is ejected.
Jamila grapples with doubts about Caspar's allegiance, questioning whether the boy who returned is truly him. Mitsuki awakens from her slumber and immediately checks the readings on Nikhil's suit. It reveals that the alien wasn't from Earth's atmosphere. With a tinge of regret, Mitsuki informs Maya, who stands beside her, that the alien served as a portal to their world. And now, she has obliterated it. The connection to their extraterrestrial counterparts is severed, forever.
