The fourth episode of IT: Welcome to Derry begins in the morning aftermath of the unsettling CGI graveyard chase. Ronnie arrives at the police station with the other kids, promising photographic evidence of It. However, something is off. Apart from a sinister clown silhouette, the pictures appear completely normal. Chief Bowers and the others are skeptical, dismissing the silhouette as a mere statue and dismissing their story as a fabrication.

IT: Welcome to Derry – Season 1 Episode 4 1

Rose seeks out Charlotte and discovers that her husband holds many secrets. Charlotte tells her that Derry is a beautiful town, but "things happen" from time to time. Rose offers her number, willing to be a listening ear whenever Charlotte needs it.

As Will heads home, he confides in Charlotte about his harrowing experience of being chased, sobbing in her arms. Charlotte decides to keep this between them, loathe to burden Leroy with Will's nocturnal graveyard escapades.

Char encourages Leroy and Will to spend more time together, so they set out on a fishing trip. The pair bond over Will's affection for Ronnie, but when Leroy leaves him alone in the lake, Will is haunted by terrifying visions of his father, promising that he'll "burn too."

Initially unbelieving, Leroy changes his tune when he notices blood and cuts on Will's wrists. To add insult to injury, a red balloon floats over the lake.

Meanwhile, Char heads to the police station to speak with Bowers about Hank. Without an attorney present and given the alarming issue of this spirit terrorizing the town, Char wants to help Hank. She has experience helping others out of forced confessions and believes she can do the same for Hank. The only thing we know for certain is that he definitely wasn't at home as he claimed he was.

Char manages to secure a meeting with Hank, convinced that signing papers citing discrimination would allow him to bypass bail and transition directly to home confinement while awaiting trial. Hank's fundamental right to due process was blatantly violated during his arrest, and as a result, his return home is imminent. However, the crux of the matter is his need to speak truthfully about his whereabouts that fateful night. The problem? The truth is that he was out with a white woman. Should this revelation surface, he could face a lynching-like fury.

Meanwhile, Dick and the boys have been granted a new hangout spot in a decommissioned bunker, where they see vast potential. Leroy confides in Dick about Will's attack, and the latter finally snaps, admitting he doesn't know what's stalking them but that it's undoubtedly bad news.

Will shares what has transpired with the others and believes that Pennywise is attempting to terrify them before feeding. Lilly offers up some pills she's stolen from her mother, deciding they should take them the next time something dire happens.

At school, Marge is coerced by Patty and the others into deceiving Lilly into believing one of the most popular kids at school fancies her. However, in the bathroom, she has second thoughts, realizing how cruel this prank truly is. Just before revealing the truth, she suddenly experiences a terrifying vision from It. Her eyes swell up, and she races through the school towards the lab.

Using a bandsaw, Marge frantically cuts into her eyes, desperate to destroy whatever parasite is inside her. Lilly catches up just in time, but unfortunately, when the other kids enter the lab, they find Lilly on top of Marge and believe she's the culprit.

We then cut forward to Will that night. Unable to sleep, he uses his telescope to try and clear his mind. Unfortunately, he winds up seeing Pennywise staring back at him. Leroy rushes to help Will, heading outside to take a look. There, he spots a red balloon wedged in one of the trees.

Frustrated and burdened with mounting concern, Leroy returns to base and confronts General Shaw with a sense of urgency. He leads Leroy to the cell where Taniel, one of the young Indian boys who has been snooping around the base, is being questioned. Taniel knows the whereabouts of Pennywise but refuses to divulge the location. Instead, he allows Dick to probe his mind and extract the information through a mind-meld.

In this revelation, we learn the monster's origins - how it arrived on Earth from a fallen star and how Taniel and his ancestors fought and eventually caged this malevolent spirit. There are 13 shards of the ancient star buried within the woods, initially marked with fires but now long forgotten.

Dick is desperate to find the pillars, and finally, Taniel shows off an old, dilapidated house that may hold the key to unlocking their secrets.
