Episode 3 of "Karma," titled "The Unrighteous," kicks off with Eyewitness demanding more money from Sang-hun to keep his lips sealed on a delicate matter. The scene then shifts to Jae-yeong, practicing his fake grief in the precinct's toilet, preparing for the inevitable moment when he would identify his father's body. Unbeknownst to him, Officer Baek, in the adjacent cubicle, catches every word, leaving Jae-yeong's alibi exposed.
Suspicious, Officer Baek confronts Jae-yeong and grills him about his whereabouts on the night of the incident. As Baek visits each location Jae-yeong mentions, he's astounded to find that everyone remembers Jae-yeong vividly. Meanwhile, Jae-yeong faces another hurdle: securing the insurance payout. He's forced to endure a three-hour wait before the supervisor, who happens to be the hit-and-run driver who initially collided with Dong-sik, finally sees him. The supervisor explains that the payout is contingent upon the investigation ruling Dong-sik's death an accident.
Jae-yeong seesthes with anger but the supervisor, who now holds the upper hand, hints that he only favors those who treat him kindly. Jae-yeong, embarrassingly apologizes for extorting money from him earlier, receives only vague promises of the payout. With only 16 days left to repay his debt, Jae-yeong is frustration boils over.
Elsewhere, Jae-yeong avoids Gil-ryong, the ex-convict who shows up uninvited at the funeral. Jae-yeong is enraged by the unexpected turn but Gil-ryong clarifies the situation: Dong-sik hadn't died yet and saw Gil-ryong's face, prompting him to improvise. However, Gil-ryong stands firm on their deal and demands his payment. Jae-yeong, tempted to attack, is easily disarmed by Gil-ryong, who threatens to expose their recording.
From a distance, Officer Baek watches this unfolding drama with keen interest. He tails Gil-ryong back to his junkyard and sneaks into his trailer, stealing the incriminating recording. But Gil-ryong catches Baek in the act and, mistakenly believing Jae-yeong sent him, attacks Baek. In a fit of rage, Gil-ryong realizes his mistake when he discovers Baek is a cop, and even worse, a CCTV camera has captured the entire incident.
He confronts Jae-yeong with an ultimatum, demanding the money by the following day or facing the dire consequence of his own demise. However, Jae-yeong harbors a different plan; he resolves to eliminate Gil-ryong and secure justice for his late father.
Turning our attention back to Sang-hun and Eyewitness, the latter demands an additional 30 million. Though clearly agitated, Sang-hun concedes, granting a week's extension. His irritation deepens as he witnesses Eyewitness befriending his nurse. In a huff, he departs to retrieve his vehicle.
The mechanic's curiosity piques upon inspecting the car, finding the damage curiously confined to the windshield rather than the bumper. Speculating that a deer must have leapt onto the hood, this observation stirs suspicion within Sang-hun. He rushes home, urgency gripping him, and dives into the black box footage. The recording reveals Dong-sik's lifeless body plummeting from above. As Sang-hun halts his car and dashes to Dong-sik's side, the scene unfolds fully: atop a footbridge stands Eyewitness, gazing down with a mocking grin etched across his face.
Sang-hun reaches out to Yu-jeong, unburdening himself about Eyewitness's mastermind role in orchestrating their tumultuous ordeal. He vows to expose the truth, framing Eyewitness as the puppeteer who coerced him into the grim task of concealing a body. Their rendezvous unfolds in her vehicle, still haunted by the ghost of his ominous car. As he unfolds the CCTV evidence, Yu-jeong abruptly quizzes him on Eyewitness's uncanny timing in singling him out. Bewildered, he finds himself on the receiving end of her sudden fury, a storm of accusations about his烦人 nature and her liberty to choose her lovers. In a fit of rage, he attempts to choke her, but Eyewitness intervenes, rendering him unconscious. The revelation unfolds: Yu-jeong and Eyewitness are con artists, a duo in crime. They conspire to lay low in their provincial hometown, unaware that the mechanic stalkers are tailing them from afar.
The fraudsters dream up schemes to cover Sang-hun's demise as they arrive at their destination—the forsaken structure that once witnessed Jae-yeong's fiery end in the series' inception. Yu-jeong's lips curl into a sinister smile, revisiting the haunting memories of the place, while Eyewitness playfully mocks her eerie demeanor. Amid their digging and squabbling, Sang-hun awakens from his slumber.
Spotting Yu-jeong's sinister laughter, he lunges into action, steering his car towards her and laughing maniacally as she succumbs to her fate. Eyewitness leaps into the fray, confronting Sang-hun, who pleads for forgiveness, blaming his hot-headedness. But his empty pockets deny him the leverage to bribe Eyewitness, who decides on his fate—death. The mechanics, unseen, record every harrowing moment.
Flashing back to Yu-jeong's school days, we witness her resentment towards Lee Ju-yeon, the school's golden girl. Yu-jeong scorns Ju-yeon's hypocrisy, noting her prudish facade and clandestine flirtations. In a moment of malice, Ju-yeon unwittingly steals the school magazine cover right out of Yu-jeong's hands.
Seeking revenge, Yu-jeong devises a plan, pretending to set up a blind date for Ju-yeon. Instead, she abducts her, leaving her vulnerable to three boys within the confines of the desolate building—a setup hinting at her rape. In the present, a grown-up Ju-yeon awakens from a harrowing nightmare, marking the harrowing cliffhanger of Karma Episode 3.
