As the sixth episode of Landman's second season opens, the excitement of the Permian Basin International Oil Show fills the air, a buzzing spectacle that captivates the town and dominates the radio waves. Tommy is on his way to Fort Worth for another business meeting, but T.L. insists on accompanying him, eventually earning his pa's consent after a bit of back-and-forth negotiation.
Meanwhile, Dale ventures to the exposition, window-shopping alongside Boss and the others. The trinkets are enticing, but they're also wary of the rapidly advancing technology, fearing they may be replaced by robots.
Ariana makes a beeline to see her mother, revealing her impending nuptials. While she wants Ariana to be happy, the most important thing, she also wants to look Cooper in the eye and assess for herself if he's the right man for her.
Cooper drives over to Corpus to secure his father's blessing and then embarks on a journey to meet Ariana's mother. Before that, he calls Tommy and requests an advance, wanting money to purchase a ring for Ariana.
When Tommy suggests calling Angela and asking her, he immediately regrets it. However, Angela surprises them both by offering her own engagement ring to Cooper, ensuring he doesn't start their marriage in debt.
The good vibes don't last long, however, as Angela promptly calls Tommy and insists he needs to step up and get her another ring. It's amusing to watch Tommy exasperated yet agreeing, with T.L. bursting into fits of giggles afterwards. There's a heartwarming moment between them.
Similarly touching is the scene when Cooper arrives to see Ariana's mother. She's swayed by his passionate speech about love and his feelings for her daughter, and she eventually decides to cook for him, further solidifying their bond.
As Rebecca and Nathan huddle over the oil well, their timeline is daunting, with just a year's breathing space to make it all happen. They have Newsom, an offshore geologist with a past at BP, on their team. Rebecca, eager to tap into his expertise and maximize the well's potential—after all, a previous well had generated $150 million in net revenue annually—suggests meeting him to discuss the project. Her interest is piqued not just by his professional prowess but also by the man himself, who charms her so much that she avoids his office for fear of appearing unprofessional. After a romantic kiss by the rig, they agree to share a meal together.
Meanwhile, in Fort Worth, Dan is wooing Cami with his charm, slowly weaving his way into her trust and convincing her of his righteousness. Tommy's presence only adds to the tension when Cami jokingly calls him out on this being her company. In the end, Tommy is forced to concede and agree to a 70/30 split with Dan for the well's initial setup, promising to pay back 20% to cover his debts. Once the loan is settled, they'll move to a 50/50 split.
But Dan has a different plan in mind—a 60/40 split with a 20% promoter's fee on top. The 40% goes to Dan until the loan is paid off, after which it remains the same but the promoter's fee disappears. Cami makes the decision for Tommy, who reluctantly agrees to paper it.
However, their plans are interrupted by a heated argument between T.L. and a former employee who makes a dig at T.L.'s wife. It's too much for T.L., and when Tommy finds out, he listens to his pa's advice. When the focus shifts to Angela, Tommy is convinced to do what he can to make amends with his ex-wife, knowing time is precious and he doesn't have much left in this business—especially with M-Tex being run so recklessly.
That night, the group heads to the local bar for celebration. Ainsley, Angela, Dan, and Cami are there, while T.L. sits alone. In the end, Angela decides to help him loosen up and dances with him. Alone, Dan and Tommy talk, with Dan reassuring Tommy that their businesses "rarely cross" and that Cami's distrust of him could be a weapon if not handled carefully. As Dan's associates catch wind of this situation, they could use it against him and poison Cami's trust in him.
