Kanjiya is then cast into the dark confines of a jail cell, but his fortunes take a turn when Sakura arrives with a glimmer of hope. Offering a second chance at redemption, Sakura invites Kanjiya to participate in a competition at the temple. He even unlocks the prison door and entrusts his samurai sword into Kanjiya's hands.

As Kanjiya sets out on a path of destruction towards the temple, a series of duels are set in motion.

Meanwhile, Okubo engages in a heated conversation with Kawaji, resolutely refusing to fund Kawaji's Bureau with more guns. The disagreement escalates until Kawaji storms off in a huff. Okubo then sends a telegram, seeking to discuss the future of the police force at length.

Elsewhere, the festival at the shrine beyond Chiryu is in full swing. Futaba embraces the festivities wholeheartedly, while Iroha and Shujiro stand back, indulging in a nostalgic conversation about their past.

In the nearby forest, Kyojin speaks with Sansuke and Shikura, informing them that Gentosai is on their trail. Kyojin urges them to move swiftly if they wish to save their comrades. As the samurai pair sets off, Kyojin reveals to Shinnosuke his plan for a little fun while they're in town.

As the sun casts its shadows over the battlefield, Shujiro and Kanjiya face off in a clash of steel, their fates intertwined in a dance of death. The air is thick with the scent of sweat and determination, and Futaba stands as a beacon of support, her eyes fixed on the two combatants, her heart pounding with anticipation.

As Gentosai makes his move, Iroha and Shikura join the fray, their swords flashing in the sunlight like lightning bolts. The odds are stacked against them, but their resolve is unyielding. The battle rages on, and though Gentosai's swordplay is formidable, the trio's combined might begins to tell.

As the dust settles, Shujiro emerges victorious, his blade dripping with Kanjiya's blood. The victor's triumph is short-lived, however, as Iroha realizes they cannot hope to defeat Gentosai without his aid. They regroup, determined to find a way to outmaneuver the formidable foe.

Meanwhile, news of Kanjiya's demise ripples through the ranks of the contestants, and Kawaji, ever the master manipulator, sends Sakura to Okubo with a message that changes everything. The Minister's fate is sealed, his chest pierced by Kawaji's sword, and with him out of the way, Kawaji's plan can finally unfold.

Maejima receives the news with shock and disbelief, and as the word spreads across Chiryu, Shujiro reads the telegram with a mix of horror and determination. Maejima sends a message of his own, urging Shujiro to meet him in Tokyo at once. The two of them hurry to put distance between themselves and their present predicament, but a more pressing concern looms on the horizon: Kawaji's ascendancy through the ranks, unchecked by any who dare challenge him.

As the weak contestants fade into the background, the remaining players prepare for the next leg of their journey to Tokyo. And in a twist of fate, Gentosai finds himself crossing paths with Kyojin, a sign that the game has just begun to heat up.
