Episode 10 of "Law and the City" kicks off with Chang-won confronted with a moral quandary. Amidst his efforts to navigate the complex bullying case involving Mun Chan-yeong, he unexpectedly receives an assignment to defend a perpetrator of school violence. He attempts to voice his reservations to Yu-deok, only to be reminded that as an attorney, he cannot cherry-pick his cases. Determined yet reluctant, Chang-won proceeds to the police station with Chan-yeong, submitting a statement that argues Chan-yeong's actions constitute self-defense.
Elsewhere, Ji-seok rushes to the hospital where Mun-jeong lies, her condition a source of concern. The doctor explains the seriousness of her condition—a hardening uterus that could pose risks if it remains stiff for more than 20 minutes. He advises her to seek medical attention promptly if the stiffness persists and to avoid being alone.
At Hyungmin Law Firm, the managing partners find themselves locked in a heated debate regarding corporate tax strategies. Later, an awkward encounter unfolds in court as Seong Yu-deok and Kang Jung-yun realize they are representing opposing sides in the same case. The judge, recognizing the conflict of interest, postpones the trial and instructs them to resolve the issue, as the same firm cannot represent both parties.
An argument ensues between Yu-deok and Jung-yun over who should withdraw from the case. Later, during a casual meal with friends, Ju-hyeong and Hee-ji learn that both lawyers have been fired by their mutual clients due to lost trust.
Back at work, Mun-jeong stumbles upon an advertisement for a new lawyer position on her colleague's computer. Curious, she inquires about it with her partner, Na Kyung-min. He reveals it's a precautionary measure, but Mun-jeong assures him she's content with her current workload and discourages him from initiating the hiring process.
Meanwhile, Chang-won finds himself in an uncomfortable situation once again, meeting with the same policeman alongside his new clients—this time, forced to advocate for the very bully he morally opposes. Elsewhere, Hyung-min presents a corporate tax structure to the managing partners, who, despite initial grumbles about added responsibilities, ultimately approve the plan. Hyung-min reminds them that they themselves chose this merger path, steering them back towards collective resolve.
Mun-jeong seeks wisdom from her friend, a seasoned lawyer and doting mother, regarding navigating legal matters involving a child. Her friend, who thrives in an in-house counsel role within a corporation, attests that it offers a more serene work environment compared to the hustle of a law firm. Meanwhile, Mun Chang-yeong's case takes a dramatic turn as it proceeds to trial. Chang-won persists in his argument that Chang-yeong's actions constitute self-defense, an assertion that unexpectedly gains traction, even prompting the prosecutor to advocate for probation—a decision sparing Chang-yeong from incarceration.
Hee-ji's chambers welcome a pair of grief-stricken sisters, recently orphaned by their father's sudden demise less than a month prior. Their father had divorced their mother two decades ago, and they had lost touch with him for years. Now, his passing leaves them, alongside a half-brother from his subsequent marriage, entangled in a web of debts. Hee-ji delicately informs the sisters of their option to renounce their inheritance but expresses concern for the younger boy, who stands to inherit not only the assets but also the burdensome liabilities.
Anticipation mounts for Chang-won as he awaits the verdict in Chan-yeong's case. On a whim, he decides to attend the court session personally to witness the ruling. Miraculously, under the circumstances, Chan-yeong is granted probation, sparing him from prison. Elated by this outcome, Chang-won indulges in a celebratory meal with Sang-gi, where he muses on the prosecutor's surprising leniency in suggesting probation for an attempted murder charge. Returning to his office, inspired by the day's events, Chang-won peruses a prosecutor recruitment application with renewed interest.
Elsewhere, Ju-hyeong meets Shin Ji-hye, a new client whose husband, Tae-hyun, was employed by Deus GA, an insurance company with an unusual policy. The rule stipulated that if even one team member failed to meet their daily quota, the entire team would be prohibited from leaving the office until the deficit was rectified by the lagging member purchasing insurance in their own name.
The relentless demands of the job consumed Tae-hyun until he ultimately took his own life, prompting Ji-hye to seek justice against the company. During a pivotal meeting, Na Kyung-min abruptly pulls Ju-hyeong aside, urging him to decline the case. It transpires that Kyung-min has accepted the mantle for Deus GA, swayed by their more lucrative fee. Ju-hyeong expresses his disapproval, but Kyung-min remains unyielding.
Hee-ji approaches Jung-yun with a plea to incorporate the boy and his kin into her ongoing case, only to be rebuffed with a warning to curb her emotions. That evening, Hee-ji and Ju-hyeong confide in each other's troubles, finding solace in their mutual struggles.
Later, Ju-hyeong ventures to Deus GA's office, where he senses a concerted effort among employees to perpetuate a falsehood—that Tae-hyun's depression preceded his employment. At the hearing, Ju-hyeong presents a cogent defense, citing the absence of evidence against Deus GA, yet his conscience weighs heavily on him.
Hee-ji reunites with the sisters and introduces a complex legal maneuver known as 'inheritance with reservation.' This approach would enable them to repay their father's debts using the inheritance itself, sparing them and their half-brother from financial ruin. Though arduous and time-consuming, the sisters consent to this path to protect their young kin.
That night, Kim Jun-hyeok, sounding desperate as his team awaits his decision, phones Ju-hyeong to pitch an insurance plan. Sensing the urgency, Ju-hyeong enrolls. Subsequently, he receives the verdict: victory. Yet, the triumph lacks satisfaction, a sentiment he conveys to Kyung-min.
Hee-ji informs Kang Jung-yun of the sisters' case resolution, but her reaction falls short of elation. As Law and the City Episode 10 draws to a close, the quintet of lawyers gathers for dinner, finding comfort in camaraderie amidst their shared challenges.
