Episode 3 of Loot opens with Molly engrossed in her ex-husband's interview on television, where John disdainfully dismisses her efforts at the Wells Foundation. Determined to prove her worth, Molly has agreed to take on a series of challenging interviews. Sofia, however, is fraught with anxiety, knowing that Molly will be grilled with tough questions about the foundation. Therefore, she resolves to spend the entire day meticulously preparing Molly for her first interview the following day.

Meanwhile, Howard approaches Nicholas for assistance in planning a memorable anniversary date for his girlfriend, Tanya. Nicholas offers him lukewarm advice, but when Howard calls him mid-date for further help, Nicholas lashes out, demanding him to delete his number. Feeling remorseful about his harsh treatment, Nicholas later reaches out to Howard, offering sincere and heartfelt guidance.

Later, Howard informs Nicholas that his advice worked wonders. He presents him with a gift and declares that they share "the strongest kind of friendship—a weird one."

Molly pores over the foundation's materials, feeling confident and well-prepared. As she heads home, Sofia intercepts her, doubting her readiness. They study together, with Molly giving Sofia a tour. Upon stepping into John's office for the first time since their divorce, Molly is overwhelmed by the signs of his success, her spirits sinking.

When the time comes for the interview, Molly mysteriously fails to appear. She confesses to Sofia that she has canceled the challenging interviews she had signed up for. Instead, she has opted for a light-hearted show called "Hot Ones," where she can discuss her foundation while enjoying spicy hot wings.

During the interview, the fiery heat of the wings prompts Molly to indulge in several beers, leading to an uncharacteristically drunken display. She ends up embarrassing herself, convinced that she has made a mess and angered Sofia. However, Sofia apologizes, attributing the debacle to factors beyond Molly's control. In truth, Molly was ready for the tougher interviews, but Sofia's mistrust had led her to back out.

Molly disagrees, insisting that it was John's success that had rattled her, not Sofia's doubts. She confesses that she is intimidated by her husband's achievements. Sofia assures her that John is not superior to her and that he wouldn't be where he is without her contributions.

The episode concludes with Molly sitting down for a serious interview, determined to discuss the housing shortage in LA with candor and authority.
