Episode 10 of Season 4 of "Love, Death & Robots" opens its narrative in London, 1757, amidst the eerie confines of St Luke’s Asylum. Our tale revolves around Jeoffry, a sentient cat entrusted with the daunting task of eliminating malevolent imps that haunt the grim basement depths. His loyal companion, The Poet, is engrossed in an urgent quest—unlocking the mysteries of the universe through a singular, elusive poem.
As the church bells toll that fateful night, a regal visitor arrives in the guise of Satan himself, confronting Jeoffry for his slaughter of the impish creatures. This remarkable feline, capable of telepathic communication, stands his ground, ordering Lucifer to depart. However, the Devil harbors other intentions, luring Jeoffry with promises of treats.
Jeoffry, prideful and unyielding, refuses to negotiate with the Prince of Darkness, daring him instead to bow to his will. Satan, unwilling to relent, seeks to coerce Jeoffry into betraying The Poet, whose talent is crucial for crafting a poem guided by the antichrist—a verse that could unleash ruin upon all creation.
Jeoffry, steadfast in his defiance, wages a solitary battle with the Devil, but Lucifer’s might proves too formidable. Witnessing his feline ally’s plight, The Poet strikes a deal with Satan, agreeing to collaborate in exchange for sparing Jeoffry.
Yet, Jeoffry is not defenseless. He taps into a network of alley cats, seeking wisdom on how to outmaneuver The Poet and Satan’s deceitful schemes. Among them, Nighthunter Moppet emerges as a potential savior, but to succeed, they must deprive Satan of his ultimate prize: the poem.
The feline allies unite, taunting the Devil and inciting him to reveal his true form. As Nighthunter Moppet and the others launch their assault, Jeoffry executes a desperate act—he destroys the poem, which happens to enshrine The Poet’s soul.
Defeated, Satan vanishes back into the depths of Hell, while the resourceful cats emerge victorious.
