The next morning, their inaugural challenge as a couple is to keep their nascent relationship under wraps while devising covert methods of communication. They devise a clandestine evening rendezvous, yet their plans are thwarted when they encounter colleagues, leading to an unexpected evening in their company. Nonetheless, they manage to slip away for an intimate, moonlit tryst by the river late into the night.

Elsewhere, Soo-ah has a fortuitous encounter with Dr. Hong while accompanying her mother to a medical appointment. As Soo-ah vents her frustration at being the sole breadwinner for her family, Dr. Hong listens intently, offering a compassionate ear and space for her grievances. His considerate act leaves Soo-ah smitten, her heart irresistibly drawn to him.

Elsewhere, Cha Ji-hye is reluctantly hauled by her father to a meeting with Seok Ji-won's father, who is eagerly attempting to win over Ji-hye's influential city councilor dad. Meanwhile, Yoon Ji-won's grandfather gears up for an interview where he plans to vocally oppose Seok Ji-won's company, accusing it of devastating the city's fabric.

In Yoon Ji-won's classroom, a new student storms in as a top scorer, pushing Hae-soo to the brink of emotional collapse. Desperate for solace, she pours her heart out to Dr. Hong. Meanwhile, Eom Ki-seok, green with envy over Dr. Hong's involvement in Hae-soo's life, ends up spilling his feelings for her.

A nostalgic flashback unveils that Cha Ji-hye once tattled on Seok Ji-won's living arrangements with the Yoons to his father. Yoon Ji-won's grandfather also stumbles upon the bet, sparking a fiery commotion that forces Seok Ji-won to vacate the staff quarters. Later, Seok Ji-won catches Ji-hye red-handed with Yoon Ji-won's phone. She confesses to her interference, justifying it with her blossoming feelings for him.

The next day, Yoon Ji-won finds herself contemplating the fading blossoms on the tree and admits to Cha Ji-hye that her heart has been captured by Seok Ji-won. Returning home, she stumbles upon old messages from Seok Ji-won, dating back 18 years, in her trash folder. Determined to find him, she sets off on a quest. Concurrently, Seok Ji-won discovers an ancient letter from Yoon Ji-won, expressing her profound longing for him. This serendipitous discovery leads him to find Yoon Ji-won sitting in solitude. He then propositions her: to embark on a real relationship, not just as a pawn in their wager. The episode concludes on this tender, heartwarming note.
