Episode 5 of "Missing You" unfolds with an electric encounter between Kat and Josh, as they finally stand before each other. Kat, maintaining her composure and professionalism, swiftly inquiries about Dana's whereabouts. Josh appears genuinely oblivious to any alleged connections with her, caught in the dark web of a scam that, as we know, operates independently of him. He confesses to being a social media abstainer, revealing that his daughter, Sadie, who lost her mother a few years prior, set up the social media profiles under his name. This clarification also sheds light on the family dynamics, with Sadie's dad now living with them.
The individual behind the dating app profile, it transpires, is not Josh. However, he opens up about his past decisions, confessing that he left Kat to shield her from the truth about Monte. He apologizes profusely, acknowledging his attempts to move on but emphasizing that his heart has always remained hers. Kat, overwhelmed by emotions and unable to bear any more revelations, decides to depart the scene.
Meanwhile, at the farm, Dana finds herself on a harrowing chase, constantly evading Titus and his ruthless henchmen who are relentlessly searching for her in the dense forest. Despite the peril, she dares to backtrack to the farm, seizing the opportunity to call Brendan on an unguarded phone. Tragically, Brendan is also in grave danger, as Titus, who has now located him at Kat's apartment, learns of their connection. He cunningly obtains Brendan's number and soon after, lures him into a blue van with false promises of Dana's presence inside. Despite Dana's desperate phone call warning him of the trap, Brendan, in a moment of foolish bravery, walks straight into it and is ruthlessly abducted. However, just in time, Kat arrives on the scene and witnesses the van speeding off, conveniently captured by the CCTV cameras lining the street.
What insights do the police uncover? Kat fails to scrutinize the cameras positioned higher up, yet there exists dashcam footage captured from the street, proving invaluable. Furthermore, the police begin to fit together the puzzle pieces that we've been privy to for two episodes now. The images Titus is utilizing stem from archived Facebook accounts. When Stagger discovers Kat's conversations with Josh and Calligan, he takes her aside to discuss everything in private. It transpires that Stagger compensated Monte to falsely confess to Clint's murder.
Clint's allegiance to Calligan cast a shadow over the precinct and Kat's career, prompting Stagger to eliminate him. Stagger was relentless in his pursuit of the truth, fearing that Calligan would turn his wrath onto Kat if the case remained unresolved.
They trace the van's license plates, revealing it's registered to Callie Sims, albeit another cloned registration. They pinpoint the exact location where the van exited the motorway and stumble upon a couple of dog shows nearby, potentially holding the clue to solving this mystery. Kat sets out to investigate the breeders, seeking a connection.
This leads her inevitably to Titus' farm, where Brendan is apprehended. However, they remain oblivious to Dana's survival after eliminating one of Titus' henchmen. Realizing the game is up, Titus decides to torch the entire premises.
Is Titus' fate sealed?
As for Charlie, he discovers that the woman who was exposed for infidelity at the beginning of episode 1 has filed a stalking report at the station. She also provides a name and address for Titus, which coincidentally corresponds with Redwaithe Farm, currently occupied by Titus and now engulfed in flames.
Dana continues to lurk around and sneaks into the barn, liberating the captives imprisoned within. Kat arrives at the farm shortly afterward, boldly proceeding alone, disregarding the need for backup. Dana succeeds in eliminating another of Titus' thugs inside the barn. However, Titus holds Brendan at gunpoint, roaring loudly, demanding that Kat emerge or Brendan will meet his demise.
After shooting him in the leg, both Dana and Kat rush to the scene. Kat ultimately fires a shot at Titus' neck, bringing an end to his reign of terror. With him deceased, Brendan is reunited with Dana.
Who exactly is Parker? Well, there are still more fragments to this intricate puzzle. Calligan phones Kat, disclosing that he has discovered Parker's whereabouts. He swiftly sends over an address, prompting Kat to embark on a solo journey. Unbeknownst to many, Parker is actually Clint's lover, sharing a bond that has lasted 14 years. Their connection also extends to Calligan, who, as it turns out, had been blackmailing Clint into working for him.
When Clint decided to end his relationship with Parker, hoping to sever ties with Calligan and shield his partner from harm, he was consumed by turmoil.
Regarding Josh and Kat's relationship, a twist unfolds. Josh arrives at Kat's doorstep, confessing that he had been in a tumultuous state following their breakup and that he couldn't stop thinking about her. His recent troubles, including an undisclosed bar fight in Scotland (which seems to have evaded his London record), hint at his tumultuous life.
Impatient to wait any longer, Kat decides that they should reconcile. Josh, eager to win her back, vows to share whatever she wishes to know. Kat, swayed by his sincerity, welcomes Josh back into her life, and it feels as though no time has passed.
Just when their reunion seems perfect, Charlie's call interrupts, bringing devastating news: the partial fingerprint found on the murder weapon matches Josh's.
On the fateful night of Clint's murder, Josh found himself unexpectedly at the scene. Aqua had witnessed Clint in the company of Parker, and as she attempted to depart, Clint hurriedly pursued her. In a desperate bid to locate Aqua, Clint contacted Stagger and urged him to disclose her whereabouts. Despite Stagger's efforts to arrive before Clint, the latter arrived first, pounding furiously on Aqua's door, a scene vividly echoed in her haunting flashbacks.
Upon opening the door, Clint promptly confronted Aqua, his demeanor harsh and accusatory. Matters escalated when Kat called that night; Clint threatened Aqua and physically overpowered her, causing her to sustain injuries. She bled on the floor until Josh arrived, leading to a chaotic altercation between the two men. Tragically, this tumultuous struggle culminated in Clint being stabbed.
Shortly thereafter, Stagger arrived on the scene, where Clint, weakening, made a feeble plea for them to avoid involving the police. United by this unforeseen turn of events, the trio decided to conceal the truth and thwart Kat's efforts to uncover the reality. They manipulated Monte into taking the blame, hoping to restore a semblance of normalcy to their lives. As a result, Josh was compelled to leave.
Despite the gravity of the situation, Kat appeared to extend a tentative forgiveness to Josh. She gently brushed her fingers against his, a tender gesture that lingered in the air before the screen faded to black, leaving a poignant impression of the complex entanglements of their lives.
