Episode 4 of "Missing You" kicks off with a nostalgic glimpse into the past, where Josh is seen spending time with Aqua, proudly displaying a ring destined for Kat and reassuring her that their future would be nothing short of splendid. Skipping ahead to the contemporary narrative, Kat confronts Aqua, whom she has trailed to uncover the truth behind his conversations about Josh. Desperate to halt Brendan's dissemination of falsehoods about Josh, Kat seized the phone in a moment of panic and dashed off, leading the police straight to her doorstep—and ultimately, to Aqua's arrest.
Yet, shadows linger over parts of this tale, illuminated only partially by fleeting flashbacks of persistent knocking at Aqua's front door. Presently, we remain in the dark about the deeper implications of these scenes.
Kat escorts Aqua back to their abode, where Stacey soon joins them. Stacey confesses to have initially engaged Josh at the yoga class, where she firmly instructed him to leave her be—and he dutifully obliged.
Switching back to the modern timeline, Charlie calls Kat with startling news: Dana's account has been flagged as dubious, with Ashkan Chuback identified as the individual who raised the alarm. Charlie and Kat promptly visit Chuback's residence and uncover that the funds were transferred to Rishi Magari. Intriguingly, Rishi and Vanessa crossed paths on Melody Cupid, the same dating app that previously united Kat and Rishi. The revelation hits home—Vanessa is merely a pseudonym, a facade used by Titus and his cronies to deceive and defraud individuals through fake profiles.
Dana is subsequently summoned by Titus, who orders her to facilitate a money transfer. However, his Swiss account is abruptly frozen amidst police investigations. This sequence of events propels the group to realize that Kat is entangled in the missing persons case and that she knows Josh by his genuine moniker, as opposed to the alias employed in their online scams.
The following day, Kat embarks on a fact-finding mission, scouring the internet to discover that Josh's writings have emerged online under an alias. Thanks to Stacey's detective work, they trace these writings to a PO Box registered under the name of Reggie Cross, adding another layer to the intricate tapestry of deceit.
Kat ventures out to uncover the truth, yet her efforts are thwarted when she discovers that the fingerprint analysis yields no definitive conclusions. However, she gleans a crucial piece of information from her mother – Calligan has ties to someone named "Parker." Kat delves into the post office registry and notices a pattern: the same timing every single week. Her discretion takes a backseat as she tails a man who frequents the post office, trailing him deep into the woods. Her inquiry at the man's residence yields no fruit, but by the dockside, she encounters a nine-year-old, the very same child rumored to have set up Josh's profile.
Kat inches perilously close to the truth, only to be swiftly abducted and taken to Calligan, who awaits her at an art gallery. Claiming innocence in Clint's murder, Calligan seeks to broker a deal with Kat: in exchange for spilling the beans on everything he knows about Clint's demise, he wants her to drop her investigation and leave him in peace. Monte, it transpires, didn't pull the trigger on Clint but confessed due to his unwavering loyalty to Calligan. Moreover, Monte's incarceration offered him a cushier life in his cell, hinting at a collusive police officer who might have framed him for the murder, sweetening the pot with a preferable deal. Calligan further promises to assist Kat in finding Parker, but warns that once this task is done, their acquaintance will terminate.
As the episode draws to a close, Dana manages to overpower her assailant with the aid of a wooden plank brought to her by one of the dogs in the barn – a far cry from their supposed training. Meanwhile, Kat returns to the isolated house to find Josh awaiting her there.
