Made in Korea – K-drama Episode 2 1

Upon examining Kim's note for a drug pickup, he is moved by the plight of the couple's toddler. At work, the chief prosecutor cautions Jang against trespassing into the KCIA's territory, hinting at the complexity of the case. It's revealed that Jang has been stuck in his current position due to his unwavering integrity and principles.

The story shifts to Gi-tae being reprimanded by his boss, Director General Hwang, who is also revealed to be corrupt. He's upset because the Manjae Gang, run by Man-jae and Dae-il, has attracted attention by partnering with the Yakuza. Through flashbacks, we learn that the Manjae Gang is under Hwang's protection. As the chief prosecutor predicted, Hwang learns of Jang's investigation and orders Gi-tae to take care of the prosecutor.

Back to Jang, he questions the two American soldiers, openly mocking the army for protecting murderers. However, he's determined to uncover more about the note and strikes a deal of leniency with them. In return, he learns that the drug pickup is scheduled for that day.

Rookie attorney Oh Ye-jin pretends to be the wife while Jang is chosen to be the husband for their undercover mission. Ye-jin, feeling nervous, ends up flirting with him, much to Jang's amusement. As they make their way to the rendezvous point, she reveals her ambition to become the first female prosecutor of the country.

Dae-il picks them up in his car, and that's when things go wrong. The radio plays and reports on the Kims' murder. Dae-il makes a desperate attempt to flee, triggering a hilarious chase. In the end, Ye-jin knocks him out and handcuffs him.

Jang discovers that Dae-il is stealing from Man-jae, leaving Dae-il with two options: be killed by Man-jae for betrayal or become Jang's mole, have Man-jae arrested, and become the leader of the gang. Dae-il agrees to the deal, and Jang lets him go. Meanwhile, Gi-tae conducts a background check on Jang and Ikeda Yuji. While Jang has a seemingly normal past, Yuji is actually Korean, adopted by Chairman Ikeda. Gi-tae's assistant also reveals that Baek Ki-hyun is taking a leave for their mother's memorial. It turns out that Ki-hyun, Gi-tae's younger brother, is a top-ranking cadet in the military. They also have a sister, So-yeon, who has faced many hardships. Gi-tae offers to help Ki-hyun get a good placement with his connections, but the latter refuses. He insists on rising up on his own, disregarding Gi-tae's rant about nepotism and influence.

Meanwhile, Ye-jin worries about whether Dae-il can be trusted. Jang points out that Dae-il's ambition to steal means he wants to be the leader. However, Jang also plans to arrest Dae-il once he replaces Man-jae. Jang also shows her Gi-tae's photos, seeking her input. She doesn't know him, instead joking about handsome killers.

Gi-tae isn't sitting still either as he brings his team to the Prosecutor Office when Jang's team goes out for lunch. The KCIA wires the office and snoops around. Gi-tae sees his own photos and is surprised. He stays back and waits for Jang to return to the office.

Jang instantly recognizes Gi-tae, who claims to be undercover. He spins a convincing lie, claiming that Man-jae is a communist and that the KCIA is investigating him, urging the prosecutor to back off. Jang enthusiastically agrees, but laughs once Gi-tae leaves, indicating that he didn't buy the lie at all.

Ye-jin returns to the office, and the KCIA eavesdrops through the wiretap. Jang informs her that Dae-il has come through and told him that Man-jae is meeting the Yakuza at the Busan Hotel for a drug deal. It's time for the gangs' meet-up.

Dae-il has secretly installed a bug for Jang and his team, who are eavesdropping from the next room. There's another bug, and through it, Gi-tae is eavesdropping from the room above. Once the Yakuza arrive and the deal is heard on the wire, both the prosecutors and the KCIA make their move. Unfortunately, the KCIA locks in and gasses the prosecutors' room, arresting both gangs.

Gi-tae takes Dae-il and Man-jae to Director Hwang, who scolds them for partnering with the Yakuza and risking the KCIA's alliance with Japan's intelligence agency. Hwang kills Man-jae, and Gi-tae convinces his boss to make Dae-il #1.

Alone, Gi-tae tells Dae-il his plans to start selling meth in Japan and to keep Hwang out of it. Gi-tae always wanted to enter the Japanese market; that's why he agreed to take Man-jae's drugs to Yuji. Dae-il is surprised that a government officer wants to be a drug dealer.

As for Jang, he realizes his office is wired and finds the bugs. He ends up laughing at the audacity of Gi-tae's scheme.
