MobLand – Season 1 Episode 2 1

Flashbacks transport us to a pivotal moment in their past, revealing that Harry and Kevin's bond stretches back to their days in prison. Their close-knit friendship paved the way for Harry's involvement with the Harrigan family, a venture that has exacted its own heavy toll on him.

That fateful night, the air tightens with tension as armed police descend upon Harry's residence. Compliance etched on his face, Harry allows himself to be placed in handcuffs without resistance. He knows that O'hara, the Harrigans' longstanding legal eagle briefly glimpsed in the previous episode, will swiftly orchestrate his release within hours.

Detective Fisk enters the fray, presenting Harry with a potential escape route, underlining the impending collapse of the Harrigan dynasty and probing deeper into the mystery surrounding Archie.

As dawn breaks, Richie makes a bold appearance, cornering Kevin on a lonely stretch of road. With demands ringing in his ears for Tommy's whereabouts, Richie leaves Kevin with an ultimatum: an hour to settle his affairs. Once Richie's cars disappear from sight, Kevin swiftly contacts Bella at home, deciding that Eddie must be relocated to the tranquil Cotswolds. He dispatches two of Harry's trusted men to orchestrate the perilous move.

Amidst the countryside's winding roads, a fierce chase unfolds as Richie sees Eddie as a pawn in his game. In a heart-stopping race against time, they manage to convey Eddie back to Conrad's estate unscathed, though the margin for error was perilously slim.

At the station, O'Hara orchestrates a daring rescue to secure Harry's freedom, yet the shadows of suspicion linger heavy, hinting at a traitor in their midst. Both O'Hara and Harry are acutely aware that the police, and notably Fisk, have motives for targeting Harry with incriminating inquiries. O'Hara's suspicion falls heavily on Maeve, yet in the absence of concrete proof, they opt for a strategic excavation of truths rather than a hasty confrontation, avoiding a repetition of the dramatic fiasco orchestrated by Conrad the previous night.

Unbeknownst to them, agitating Harry forms an integral part of the police's strategy. They gamble on Harry's relentless pursuit of the informant, believing that through his efforts, they can unmask the mysterious tipster who has thus far concealed their identity behind a veil of anonymity.

Elsewhere, Brendan arrives to present his half-sister Seraphina with a momentous proposal, only to find her ears closed to his words. His speech stumbles and falters, revealing a lack of conviction that she promptly points out. With a stern encouragement to abandon this treacherous path, she dismisses him, asserting that he lacks the fortitude required for such undertakings.

After the dust settled, O'hara and Harry made their appearance at the Estate, with Conrad convinced that retaliation against Richie was imperative. Outside, Harry engaged Conrad in conversation, revisiting the morning's fracas involving Fisk and the police. With a solemn pledge, Harry assured Conrad that he would stand by his side and uncover concrete evidence proving Archie's alleged snitching. However, Conrad was wracked with guilt over his brother's demise, contemplating that perhaps severing his tongue would have been a more humane option.

Harry then ascended to seek out Eddie, bringing to light the CCTV footage that revealed Eddie's company with Tommy. He eventually let slip the identity of the two posh kids in the taxi from the series opener: Alfie King and Jack Whiley, hailing from the prestigious realm of Westminster. This revelation prompted Harry to rush out and attempt to smooth things over with Richie.

Harry ventured into the bar in search of Richie, but found him in no mood for diplomacy. Despite Harry's best efforts to mediate, Richie's patience soon wore thin, culminating in a chilling threat aimed at Gina. Flashing multiple photographs of her from her school days and weaving a bizarre narrative involving Burger King, Richie made it abundantly clear that he was deadly serious. He demanded Tommy's return, and with Gina's life hanging in the balance, Harry was plunged into a tailspin.

Matters at home were far from reassuring, with Jan contemplating consulting a solicitor and perhaps initiating divorce proceedings against her husband. Her suspicions were further aroused when Harry casually mentioned Tommy's disappearance, though he lied through his teeth, reassuring her that all was well. Clearly, the truth was far from it.

Harry's next stop was to visit Isabella, Kevin's wife. Earlier in the episode, we had witnessed her attempting to broker a deal with a French businessman named Antoine, while confiding in her father—a Minister in the government. However, it was evident that the bond between father and daughter was anything but warm, as his snarky comments about her age amply demonstrated.

Bella is desperately trying to capitalize on this deal, but the timing couldn't be worse. It's patently obvious that she's smitten with Harry, coaxing him to accompany her to the hotel room she intends to occupy. Naturally, he declines, leaving it ambiguous whether they share a past together. Their history might include an illicit affair, but this remains uncertain at first glance. Meanwhile, Harry sets off to meet Jack and Alfie, who share their insights about the club, though they lack definitive knowledge about Tommy's role.

Back at the Estate, Maeve confronts Eddie, emphasizing how she has raised him all these years. She insists that he is a true "Harrigan" and underscores her role in shaping everyone around her. However, Conrad corrects her, reminding her that she merely represents the prosecution. He asserts that Eddie is a scoundrel and that, as the judge here, he holds the final say. But for how much longer, one wonders?

As time grows increasingly precious, Harry arrives at the club, where once again, a Prodigy track echoes through the air – this time, it's "Breathe," following "Firestarter" in the first episode. One can't help but ponder the possibility of hearing "Smack My B*tch Up" or "Voodoo People" in upcoming episodes.

Harry immediately initiates a confrontation, demanding to know Tommy's whereabouts. Confronting the club manager, he's directed downstairs to the basement, where the grim truth about Tommy is unveiled. Shockingly, Tommy has been murdered and stuffed into a box. Oh dear.
