MobLand – Season 1 Episode 5 1

En route, Jan is taken aback by the revelation that they must attend Tommy's funeral. Despite recognizing it as a trap, her resolve wavers upon learning that Bella will also be in attendance. Her initial objections melt away, and she reluctantly agrees to participate.

At the council, Harry concedes, albeit reluctantly, that Richie's maneuver is sheer brilliance. Regardless of their attendance, they find themselves between a rock and a hard place. Kevin posits that the funeral and wake serve more as a power play than a breeding ground for conflict, designed to humiliate the Harrigans amidst their grief and fury, making them vulnerable targets in enemy territory, defenseless and exposed.

If they decide to attend, caution is paramount, especially when it comes to Eddie and his notorious penchant for overindulgence. They've witnessed firsthand the consequences of his heavy drinking! Additionally, Harry has devised a contingency plan, determined to sneak in some concealed weaponry, ensuring they have at least a fighting chance should things take a turn for the worse.

In essence, they have decided to embrace the invitation despite Maeve and Eddie's vehement opposition to Conrad's scheme, insisting it's ill-conceived. Yet, Conrad remains unyielding to their pleas. Enter Harry, who skillfully orchestrates a deal, leveraging a compromising situation involving one of Richie's henchmen and Vron, caught in an affair. Armed with incriminating photos extracted from a phone unlocked by the astonishingly simplistic passcode "123456," Harry cleverly persuades the henchman to conceal the firearms, sweetening the pot with a handsome sum of money.

Brendan makes an entrance, aiming to impress Seraphina by inviting her to dinner and flashing unpolished gems. He confides in her about a potential buyer but lacks the funds to finalize the transaction. Seraphina, however, demands an exorbitant 80% commission for her involvement. Brendan attempts to haggle, but he finds himself outmatched in the negotiation.

Amidst these intertwined plots, Alice phones Jan, requesting a meeting where she learns of an impending funeral. She promptly conveys this intelligence to the authorities, adding another layer of intrigue to the unfolding saga.

The funeral proceeds, with Maeve already indulging in alcohol. Along the way, Eddie attempts to sow discord between Harry and Kevin, querying their trustworthiness. Regardless, the Harrigans arrive at this melancholic event, but unfortunately, Eddie behaves absurdly, continuing to stir up trouble by misnaming Richie as Richard and even attempting to plant a kiss on Vron's cheek.

During Richie's eulogy, Maeve persists in whispering into Conrad's ear, accusing Richie of intimidating him with piercing gazes. Conrad, inadvertently whispering too loudly, tells her to hush, but this certainly catches the attention of those around them.

Amidst the wake, Eddie sneaks upstairs. He begins rummaging through various items, indulging in cocaine on the side, and ultimately finds himself at Harry's mercy. Harry berates Eddie and forces him to back down from his aggressive demeanor. However, downstairs, Harry finds himself caught in the middle, with Richie fixing a piercing gaze on Conrad.

Maeve causes even more drama when she approaches Vron. Vron, in a tactless manner, insinuates that Maeve is ugly, prompting Maeve to resume her drinking. Unbeknownst to her, the drink has been spiked to prevent her from causing any more trouble.

Before succumbing to unconsciousness, Maeve gives Eddie a nod, urging him to create more chaos. He bumps into one of the attendees and seems poised for a fight, until Richie intervenes and offers one of his men to drive Eddie home.

The entire encounter is excruciatingly awkward and eventually leads to a private conversation between Conrad and Richie. It transpires that Richie knows who killed Tommy, having obtained this information from the club owner who has spilled the beans. He doesn't desire a vengeful war but respects the Harrigans' presence. However, Richie believes that if Eddie shows up anywhere, he is "fair game," serving as the one major condition to prevent a massive conflict.

We remain in the dark regarding Conrad's acceptance of the deal, yet Maeve harbors no sentiment of forgiveness. Upon awakening from her drug-induced slumber, she promptly dials Paul's number, her scheming mind at play even in the quiet of the background. An air of tranquility envelops the scene, only to be shattered that morning when Vron steps into her car, intent on a trip to the shops. But as she slams the door shut, the vehicle erupts into a towering inferno, instantaneously claiming her life.
