Under her breath, Jan mutters something charmingly sarcastic.

MobLand – Season 1 Episode 9 1

Seated before a caged dog, Eddie ponders aloud which of them—himself or the animal—has a better fate. The dog responds with a growl, pacing restlessly within its confines. Later, Eddie pulls up to the house, leaving the car idling as he steps inside. Bella slips into the driver's seat, revving the engine and speeding away just as Eddie begins a countdown. At the gate, she commands Darren Guthrie (Florian Rafuna) to open it, but he hesitates, insisting on making a call. Identifying herself with an air of authority, Bella orders him to obey, and reluctantly, he complies, watching her drive through.

Paul's count reaches 99 when Darren calls to inform him of Bella's departure. Meanwhile, Harry Da Souza (Tom Hardy) informs Conrad that Jaime Lopez (Jordi Molla) will arrive in Norton Brize, with their meeting scheduled for noon at Archers Arms. He hands Conrad a paper belonging to the late Freddie Shaw (Bradley Turner), revealing that Jaime will be accompanied by four guards. Paul's entrance is met with Conrad's stern demand for him to leave. Harry mentions that Kevin Harrigan (Paddy Considine) has stopped responding to his calls since yesterday, prompting Conrad to insist on bringing Seraphina Harrigan (Mandeep Dhillon) along. Harry expresses concern about Conrad seeking revenge for Brendan Harrigan's (Daniel Betts) fate during the meeting and suggests changing the venue to Falkland Arms. Paul interrupts with news of Bella's departure.

Jan confides in Harry that Conrad discovered her meeting with Alice (Emily Barber) in the village and invited her to dinner, hinting that Conrad might be romantically interested in Alice but assures him she'll keep an eye on the situation. At a press conference, Colin Tattersall (Toby Jones) announces the murders of DS Ivan Fisk (Luke Mably) and DC Mukasa (Gemma Knight Jones), assuming the role of head of the organized crime task force. Shortly after, Alice rejects Tattersall's proposition to attend Conrad's dinner, citing the danger. Labeling undercover agents as crazy (crazy ones), Tattersall suggests that excitement, not fear, causes her leg to tremble. He pitches the idea of taking down Maeve Harrigan (Helen Mirren) and Conrad, reminding her off the record that this isn't her first rodeo and she knows how to bend the rules. She outright refuses to attend Conrad's dinner. He then reminds her of the 50,000 pounds she received to plant evidence in two high-profile murder cases and offers to recommend her for the King's Police Medal.

At Cotswold, Maeve confronted Gina Da Souza, alias Teddie Allen, accusing her of spending time with Eddie in the stables. Gina hastily protested, asserting it was a one-time occurrence. Maeve, gesturing towards several CCTV cameras, declared she had caught them from every conceivable angle. Gina dismissed her claims with a nonchalant assurance. Maeve, undeterred, compared Gina to Harry, questioning whether he was truly her father, considering Jan had been a more affordable conquest. With a menacing tone, Maeve vowed to pluck out her eyes if she didn't steer clear of Eddie. Gina, visibly shaken, scurried away.

After indulging a horse with a treat, Maeve exited the stables. Two vehicles zoomed past her through the security gate, leaving a wake of dust and adrenaline. Outside the senior care home, Kevin kept a vigilant watch as Alan Rusby, a former prison guard portrayed by Nigel Lindsay, arrived. In a haunting flashback, Kevin, portrayed by Jack Rowan, relived the moment when Rusby sexually assaulted him while two other guards stood by, indifferent.

At Falkland Arms, Seraphina, Conrad, Paul, and Harry gathered to meet Jaime. Conrad greeted the bartender, Keith, with a nod and ordered a whiskey, while Harry opted for sparkling water. Conrad, Harry, and Seraphina took their seats opposite Jaime, while Paul occupied a separate table, mindlessly crunching on crisps until Conrad's stern glare prompted an apology. Conrad told Jaime he harbored no resentment over Brendan's death, regarding him as a mindless pawn. With a chuckle, he apologized for his racial slur directed at Jaime's father and disclaimed any involvement in his demise. Jaime exhaled deeply, his gaze fixed on Conrad. Seraphina reiterated her previous offer, doubling what Richie Stevenson paid him, recalling her bid of 5 million for her and Brendan's lives.

Addressing Harry, Jaime made it clear that a favor for Kat McAllister was not one he owed. He inquired about Harry's whereabouts with his Moroccan associates in Antwerp, wondering if he had been alone. Harry remained silent. Jaime requested he convey to his boss that he would consider the proposition. Conrad imposed a four-hour deadline for a response. As Jaime turned to leave, Conrad shouted, "Get your head out of your ass, Poncho, or it'll be a short-lived marriage."

At a restaurant, Antoine Arloud questioned Bella about her bringing an attack dog. She presented him with a choice: return her money or join her, Lord Pennock, and Home Secretary Suri Sharma for dinner. When he inquired if it was an unofficial gathering, she assured him it was, just as Pennock called. She informed him of the 6 PM dinner engagement, her hopes lingering in the air. Interrupting her, he demanded to know the purpose. She remained silent, prompting him to remark that they were more alike than she realized.

Kevin waited outside the care home, his vehicle blending into the backdrop. Rusby climbed into the car, mistaking it for a rideshare. As they drove toward Plaistow, their conversation meandered through random topics, each word a silent testament to Kevin's inner turmoil.

Back at Cotswold, Conrad joined Maeve in the sauna. She inquired about his meeting with Jaime, and his anger was palpable. When she asked about Alice, he revealed her as a friend of Jan's, prompting curiosity. Maeve issued a grim warning, threatening to excise his testicles if he dared to bed Alice under her roof.

At The Sinful Monkey, Tattersall reveals to Richie that Alice's phone had been bugged during her dinner with the Harrigans. He assures Richie that an armed tactical squad and aerial support will be deployed within moments of engaging the target. Richie reveals that Maeve had confided in him about Harry's discontent with being the Harrigans' problem-solver. Tattersall expresses surprise at their communication, prompting Richie to vow to make Maeve pay dearly.Tattersall, empathetic towards Richie's plight following the Harrigans' role in Vron Stevenson's (Annie Cooper) demise, promises to bring the Harrigans to the police station, leaving the rest to Richie's discretion.

Elsewhere, Kevin drops Rusby off at his sister's house and politely requests to use the restroom. Rusby, being hospitable, invites him in and directs him to the toilet. Kevin takes the opportunity to check his firearm, summoning his courage before heading to the kitchen. Rusby, ever the gentleman, offers him tea. Kevin introduces himself, but Rusby feigns ignorance and asks him to leave. Kevin reveals his incarceration at Newgate from 1998 to 2002, catching Rusby off guard. Reluctantly seating himself, Rusby recounts how a church trip had been therapeutic for him and claims to suffer from memory lapses. He justifies his past stern disciplinary measures but denies raping anyone. Kevin, who had blocked out the memories until recently jogged by his best friend, accuses Rusby of sexually assaulting him weekly for two years, tears streaming down his face.

Rusby, now claiming to have found Jesus, apologizes if Kevin is haunted by the past and begs for forgiveness. Meanwhile, Kevin attaches a silencer to his gun and orders Rusby to kneel. Paralyzed with fear, Rusby fails to move. Kevin begins counting to ten, while Rusby pleads for his children's sake. Kevin, overwhelmed with emotion, breaks down in sobs. Seizing the moment, Rusby excuses himself from the room, returns, takes a seat, and casually inquires if Kevin has children. In a sudden burst of resolve, Kevin shoots Rusby in the head, causing him to collapse onto the table.

At Cotswold, Jaime warns Harry that the Harrigans have a traitor in their midst. Harry acknowledges the truth but remains unperturbed. Jaime agrees to a deal once the traitor is dealt with. Harry informs Seraphina of the situation but omits mention of the traitor. She cautions that Conrad could mess things up. Harry notifies O'Hara Delaney (Lisa Dwan) of the developments, who also expresses skepticism about the deal. He requests a meeting with her at the yard at 10 am.

Upon arrival at the airport, Kat calls Harry to arrange a meeting at The Fortnum for the next day. Meanwhile, Bella, Pennock, Sharma, Antoine, and Youssef Khalil Hamed gather at a restaurant. Antoine's tie appears to conceal a hidden camera. Back at Cotswold, Conrad thanks Harry for the Mexican deal and rewards him with a bonus. Harry expresses his gratitude and they shake hands. Conrad inquiries about Freddie's fall from the roof, prompting Harry to confess that he had thrown him off, no longer needing him as a rat. Conrad then asks why Jaime wants to leave their service, prompting Harry to question Conrad's doubts about his loyalty. Seraphina alerts him to Alice's arrival. As they head to greet her, Conrad whispers to wait for his signal. Alice presents them with a bottle of champagne, which Conrad uses as an excuse to embrace and welcome her. Maeve joins in the greeting. Conrad, ever the nonchalant smoker, discards his cigar butt into an empty glass, marking the end of a tense encounter filled with underlying threats and betrayals.

During dinner, Jan imparts the sorry news that Gina is indisposed and遗憾地将缺席此次聚会. Maeve, expressing her sympathy with a heartfelt "poor angel," dispatches Eddie to inquire after her wellbeing. However, Eddie merely glances at Harry and remains rooted to his spot. Alice declares her origins from Dalston, prompting Maeve to interject, mentioning Conrad's commentary on her troubled marriage while subtly caressing Eddie's leg beneath the tablecloth. She muses aloud about men being delicate, albeit valuable, entities that women need not always heed. Alice offers her gratitude. Noticing Conrad's wink, Seraphina inquires about her whereabouts, to which Alice responds, near Chipping Norton, adding that she has been delving into the Harrigans' affairs. Seraphina, curious, asks if Alice is apprehensive. Jan labels this inquiry as impolite. Seraphina then wonders why Alice never questioned Jan about the invitation. Maeve reassures her that Alice's presence is due to Conrad's invitation and seeks clarification. Embarrassed, Alice abruptly departs the table. Jan starts to follow suit, but Harry halts her departure.

Conrad's voice rises as he confronts Maeve, accusing her of orchestrating a spectacle. Meanwhile, Alice discreetly slips Conrad's cigar butt into a glass and conceals it in her bag. Conrad commands Eddie to recount his morning accusation regarding the informant. Maeve, playfully, insists that Eddie's tale delights her. Harry demands that Alice unzip her bag. Compliance yields a warning from Alice: tactical teams are moments away, and she labels Harry a derogatory term. He speculates that the police might plant Conrad's DNA as evidence. She counters that Conrad will be incarcerated for a crime he did not commit. Maeve launches a tirade of insults towards Seraphina. Harry, exasperated, instructs Alice to vacate the premises. She makes a beeline for the exit.

Fuming, Conrad accuses Maeve of betraying her kin and lunges for a knife. In retaliation, Maeve shards a bottle and brandishes its jagged edge, declaring Conrad's demise. The distant wail of sirens and the hum of a helicopter punctuate the tense atmosphere. She urges Eddie to flee. Conrad, desperate, urges everyone to feign normalcy, portraying them as a harmonious family sharing a meal. Suddenly, tactical officers storm the scene, encircling the dining group. Officers apprehend Conrad and Maeve on suspicion of murder. In a poignant moment, Conrad kisses Maeve and entrusts Eddie with feeding their dogs. Maeve begins to sing "Whiskey on a Sunday" by Danny Doyle, joined by Conrad as they are segregated into separate police cruisers. Tattersall observes from a nearby vehicle, while Gina and Harry look on from an upstairs window, with Harry offering comforting embrace. Jan is left solitary at the dining table, amidst the remnants of a shattered evening.
