In 1952, Lee found himself assigned to a high-stakes mission: serving as a security escort for a Japanese scientist. Their initial encounter didn't exactly bode well for a harmonious partnership. Lee was on the hunt for a man, only to discover that the scientist in question was none other than Dr. Keiko. Undeterred, Keiko took the wheel, driving them to the location where she intended to delve deeper into her investigation.

Keiko elaborated on how a WB-29 aircraft had scooped up traces of airborne radioisotopes hovering above the Philippine Sea. These isotopes, she explained, had originated from the Philippines itself, prompting her presence to unravel the mystery behind this perplexing phenomenon.

Meanwhile, Kentaro stirred from his slumber and set off to work. Yet, on a whim, he altered his course and headed towards his father's workplace. Consumed by anger towards his dad, he began to wreak havoc, smashing everything within sight. Amidst the chaos, he stumbled upon a locked drawer. Curiosity piqued, he tried the keys Cate had once entrusted to him, and to his astonishment, one of them fit.

Peering inside, Kentaro was taken aback to find another file bearing the ominous Monarch symbol. Within its pages lay information about Lee, accompanied by a recording that chronicled the events that had transpired in the Philippines.

Back in the woods, tension flared between Keiko and Lee once more. As Keiko strained her ears to decipher the strange noises emanating from the forest, Lee suddenly vanished. Just then, Bill Randa made his appearance. Before he could utter a word, Lee re-emerged, brandishing a gun and pressing it against Bill's head, demanding answers. Bill, revealing himself as a cryptozoologist, suggested that they might be on a quest for the same elusive truth.

Across the bustling streets of Tokyo, Cate meandered, her mind preoccupied with thoughts of returning to her homeland. Unbeknownst to her, a shadowy figure - a woman - trailed silently behind, her intentions a mystery yet to be unveiled.

Upon arriving at the station, Cate is confronted by Tim, the enigmatic figure from Monarch featured in the previous episode. He approaches her, and as she attempts to make her escape, he interrogates her about the files. In a sudden move, he grabs her and drags her outside. Cate threatens to call for help, but when Tim momentarily relaxes his grip, she seizes the opportunity, hurling her phone at him and bolting away.

Just as she thinks she's safe, the mysterious woman who has been tailing her intercepts Cate and forces her into a car. Tim climbs in and, to keep Cate disoriented, he places a bag over her head, concealing their destination. However, this triggers a wave of panic in Cate, evoking memories of a tragic event in San Francisco. Desperate to remove the bag, she lashes out, accidentally striking the woman and causing a collision. Cate seizes this chaos to flee once more.

Seeking refuge, Cate rushes to the police station, but her pleas are met with skepticism. The officer dismisses her, suggesting she's intoxicated and misinterpreting the situation. He promises to contact the US embassy, but his lack of conviction is palpable. Feeling hopeless, Cate escapes to May's apartment.

Meanwhile, Kentaro engages in a heartfelt conversation with his mother about his father and his lingering anger. They share a tender moment as she begins to tear up some of Hiroshi's photographs. Both join in, finding solace and laughter in the act.

Elsewhere, Bill Randa urges Keiko and Lee to delve into the local lore, particularly the tales of a dragon that might be linked to the radiation. Keiko concurs, but Lee vehemently disagrees, leading to a heated exchange. Furious, Keiko sends him away, and Lee gladly takes the Jeep, leaving the others behind.

Bill reveals that the creatures plaguing them are known as M.U.T.O.s - Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organisms. By overlaying a map of the radiation patterns with the creature's supposed path, they discover a striking resemblance. Following this trail, they stumble upon an enormous, isolated ship deep in the forest.

Back at May's, Cate's hopes are dashed when she finds Tim already there. May swiftly intervenes, spiriting Cate away undetected. As Kentaro inquires about his uncle Lee, he receives a cryptic message from May. But before he can respond, Tim and his accomplice arrive at Kentaro's doorstep.

They barge in, demanding the files. Emiko, playing along, helps Kentaro feign cooperation while he secretly plans his escape. He successfully rendezvouses with May and Cate, revealing that he knows their next destination.

On the ship, Keiko uncovers a shocking revelation: Bill had once glimpsed the dragon, back when he was a passenger on this very vessel. Determined to prove his sanity, Bill is resolute in capturing the monster on camera.

As they continue their exploration, they encounter a viscous, organic substance engulfing parts of the ship and some of its late passengers. Realizing the entrance is now blocked by this material, they frantically search for an alternative exit.

Kentaro, May, and Cate made their way to a rather unique spa and stumbled upon Lee. His eyes widened in surprise as he caught sight of them, and he inquired about their intentions. Standing in an open, airy space, they divulged that they had uncovered Monarch's files and were seeking safety. Lee informed them that they were standing in a location where Monarch "oversees some of their valuable assets," revealing his own ankle monitor in the process. Without hesitation, he sliced it off and presented them with a split-second decision: join him or stay behind.

Meanwhile, back on the ship, chaos ensued as a fearsome creature launched a violent assault, smashing through the walls with reckless abandon. A crumbling section of the ship pinned Bill down, trapping him helplessly. Fortunately, Lee arrived at the critical moment, lending a hand to free Bill from the wreckage. The trio, now united, sprinted away as the monstrous being caused the ship to teeter and ultimately topple over. As they fled, they found themselves momentarily entranced by the sight of a dragon, their eyes wide with awe. And with that, the episode drew to a dramatic close.
