In Utah, a woman reclines lazily in the sun's warm embrace when a persistent beeping sound echoes from her trailer. She rises, enters the compact space, and meticulously examines numerous monitors. The data displayed fills her with apprehension, prompting her to reach for the phone and make a call. We soon discover that she is Dr. Barnes, a dedicated member of Monarch.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters – Season 1 Episode 4 1

Shifting our focus to the protagonists, Kentaro attempts to launch a flare at the looming monsters, but his aim is off, only managing to momentarily distract the beasts. Panic ensues as everyone scrambles for safety until they stumble upon a diminutive cave to take refuge in. However, the monster's thunderous footsteps shake the ground, causing a section of the ice beneath May to crack. She plunges into the icy water and emerges, gasping and screaming. As soon as they're out of immediate danger, she starts shouting, but Shaw quickly silences her. A heated argument ensues between May and Kentaro, with May questioning if he's pleased with their current predicament.

Kentaro's mind drifts back to a night a year prior when he was about to give his first-ever presentation at an art gallery. Overwhelmed by self-doubt and struggling to articulate the essence of his art and himself, he steps outside for a breather. That's when he encounters May. After some playful banter, they agree to go on a date.

Back in the present, Kentaro insists he saw a structure resembling a building. Despite his conviction, no one is willing to take the risk and follow his lead, opting instead for a path with a higher chance of encountering other people. He suspects May's disagreement stems from her anger.

During their date, May remains tight-lipped about herself, merely mentioning she works with computers. She's taken aback to learn it's Kentaro's inaugural job as an artist, yet he chose to be with her instead of attending the gallery opening. After the date, they head to his place, where Kentaro explains his omission of certain pieces from the show due to the gallery not being his own. His phone rings, but he ignores the call, choosing to kiss May instead.

Although no one else has spotted the building Kentaro is adamant about, they reluctantly agree to follow his plan. As they trudge on, no structure comes into view. Suddenly, Cate spots a distant light, and everyone, except Kentaro, concurs that they should head towards it. Kentaro, however, remains steadfast in his belief and sets off alone towards the building he claims to have seen. Cate is hesitant, but Kentaro persists in his solitary journey.

Meanwhile, Dr. Barnes reports to Monarch's leader that the data reveals spikes typically associated with pulsars and supermassive black holes. Yet, this anomaly originates from Alaska. And that's not even the most astonishing part. The last time such readings were detected was just before G-Day.

As Kentaro trudges alone through the raging blizzard, Cate's voice carries a tinge of regret, murmuring that they never should have allowed him to venture out alone. Meanwhile, May succumbs to delirium, her words dissolving into incoherent babble. Cate, with a gentle touch and soothing words, attempts to calm May's raging mind, and for a fleeting moment, it seems her efforts bear fruit. Yet, the storm of misfortune is far from over, brewing darker clouds for all involved.

Kentaro's strength gives way, and he crumples to the ground. The rest of the group retreats to the relative safety of Hiroshi's tent. Shaw, ever the analyst, posits that the Titans wield an eerie power to distort their surroundings in bizarre and unpredictable manners. The eerie glow they observe, he suggests, is likely a manifestation of this arcane influence.

In his fevered state, Kentaro's mind weaves a tapestry of hallucinations, intertwining with May's presence, and the narrative rewinds to their inaugural date. Post his visit to the gallery, May lingers in his room, answering a call. She conceals her true whereabouts in Japan, assuring the caller of her imminent return.

We uncover that the voice on the other end belongs to Lyra, May's sister, as May confides in Cate about her. Should calamity strike, Cate is entrusted with the task of unraveling the truth to Lyra. In a desperate bid for warmth, they set Hiroshi's documents ablaze, intensifying the fire. But their reprieve is short-lived as the monster looms, its presence siphoning the warmth, plunging everything into an icy embrace. This grim spectacle sparks an idea in Shaw's mind.

Shaw reveals that the Titan is drawn to heat, proposing a plan to lure it away using the airplane's fuel as a decoy. In a hushed tone, May confides in Cate, her voice tinged with urgency, emphasizing the necessity for her to survive, even if it means being the sole survivor.

Kentaro's hallucination persists, and in this surreal landscape, he encounters his father. Their poignant exchange imbues Kentaro with a renewed resolve, propelling him forward. He stumbles upon the building he sought, albeit in a dilapidated state. With dwindling hope, he discovers a radio and manages to establish contact.

Shaw is on the cusp of finalizing his plan when the Titan strikes prematurely. It lunges at May, who deftly uses the bag containing Hiroshi's files as a shield. The airplane fuel is ignited, and the creature retreats, leaving May unscathed. Suddenly, a helicopter emerges from the stormy horizon, coming to their rescue. Hiroshi is already aboard, and gratitude fills the air as they express their thanks.

May extends her heartfelt gratitude to Cate for her lifesaving efforts, their bond deepening amidst the chaos. Shaw, however, is consumed by frustration upon discovering that Hiroshi's notebook has succumbed to the frost. Yet, once again, the specter of worse tidings looms. As they touch down, the person awaiting them is none other than Tim from Monarch.
