Monster: The Ed Gein Story – Season 1 Episode 5 1

Adeline's mother, a domineering figure, insists that Adeline find a suitor, settle down, and start a family. She goes as far as to coerce Adeline into attending a grooming class, where she's expected to learn the basics of household chores from a local woman in the neighborhood. Despite Adeline's declaration of her intent to leave town, the woman relentlessly pushes her to attend the domestic husbandry classes every week.

Before heading to the class, Adeline pays a visit to Ed. There, she captures photos of the defiled and mutilated corpses, a macabre spectacle that seems to intrigue her. Ed, driven by desire, proposes having sex with Adeline, but she firmly rejects his advances. Adeline concocts a lie, telling Ed that she intends to remain celibate until she is married.

At the domestic husbandry classes, Adeline finds herself at odds with the other women, who seem to indulge in the food with gluttonous abandon. She openly disrespects the host, Mrs. Eleanor Adams, and boldly promises to laugh at her funeral. True to her word, when Mrs. Adams passes away, Adeline shows up at the service dressed in a vibrant red outfit, her laughter echoing through the somber atmosphere.

During the service, Adeline seizes the moment to inform her mother that she's had enough of Wisconsin and is determined to leave for New York City. Later, she meets up with Ed and shares the news of her new job. Ed, misinterpreting her intentions, assumes that Adeline is suggesting they embark on a long-distance relationship. He extends an invitation to take her to his house, where they could finally consummate their relationship.

However, Adeline remains resolute. She tells Ed that she's not ready for such intimacy, let alone marriage, at this point in her life. Her career takes precedence, and she encourages Ed to seek companionship elsewhere. If all else fails, she suggests, he might even consider finding an unwilling participant.

In a bizarre twist, the two end up at the graveyard. There, Adeline, with a mischievous glint in her eye, selects Mrs. Adams' body for Ed to engage in a perverse act of fornicating with the deceased.

The following day, Adeline bid a tearful farewell to her friend Suzette, vowing with a somber resolve never to return. Suzette, her heart heavy with longing, pleaded to visit Adeline in the bustling city, only to be met with a cruel and cutting retort. Adeline, in a moment of harshness, labeled Suzette as dull and unsophisticated, a girl who would never blend into the city's vibrant tapestry, thus wounding her friend deeply.

Meanwhile, Ed found himself inexplicably aroused, his pulse quickening as he watched interviews featuring a person who had transitioned from male to female, his fascination bordering on obsession.

In New York, Adeline found herself trapped in a frigid room, the lack of funds condemning her to a life of shivering discomfort. The dorm warden, indifferent to her plight, refused to offer any assistance, coldly instructing her to either pay for a heated room or endure the silence of her icy prison.

The next day brought no reprieve for Adeline. She had the misfortune of meeting her idol, Weegee, a renowned graphic photographer, who proceeded to belittle her work with scathing disdain, dismissing her as a small-time, talentless girl. Heartbroken, Adeline retreated to her room, where the winter's wrath seemed to intensify with each passing moment. Desperate, she sought the warden's help once more.

When the warden remained unyielding, Adeline's frustration boiled over. In a fit of rage, she attacked the old woman, pummeling her with her shoe before fleeing New York in a whirlwind of despair.

Back in Wisconsin, Ed's macabre obsession reached new heights. He exhumed Mrs. Adams' body and, in a grotesque act of defilement, engaged in necrophilia on the dining table of his own home. His days were consumed by reading Ilse Koch comics and indulging in his sickening fantasies.

One fateful day, Ed stumbled upon one of the final comics, detailing Ilse's arrest and conviction for the murder of Jews. In his twisted mind, he imagined himself entwined with Ilse, all while desecrating Mrs. Adams' corpse in a grotesque dance of depravity.

Reluctantly, Adeline found herself back in Wisconsin, where she reunited with her mother. In a moment of vulnerability, she confided in her about the photographer's cruel words, how he had labeled her as talentless.

Her mother, instead of offering comfort, erupted into laughter. She revealed the dark truth of Adeline's conception, how she had tried multiple times to terminate her pregnancy by throwing herself down the stairs, yet Adeline had survived. She claimed that Adeline's failures stemmed from being struck in the head during one of those desperate attempts.

With a cold heart, her mother urged her to find a husband who would tolerate her, pushing her towards a life of mediocrity. Desperate for acceptance, Adeline visited Ed, attempting to seduce him. But Ed, in his perverse world, refused her advances. Instead, he commanded Adeline to sit in an ice bath, declaring her "too warm" for his twisted desires.
