Young-ran, taken aback and resolute, declines the offer and strides out of the room. However, in the solitude of the servant quarters, a call from her mother shatters her resolve. Her mother's incessant pleas for financial support leave Young-ran seething with frustration. Consumed by her emotions, she retraces her steps back to Seong-ho’s room, where she seizes the ring and acquiesces to the marriage.
The following day, the household bustles with routine activity as Butler Choi, Cheol-su, and Hye-ji go about their daily tasks. Meanwhile, Young-ran, with a calculated move, spikes Cheol-su’s drink with a laxative, ensuring he won’t be fit to drive Seong-ho to work. Seizing the opportunity, Young-ran takes the wheel herself, ushering Seong-ho to the registrar’s office. There, Lee Don awaits them, clutching the requisite paperwork. In a swift and solemn ceremony, Seong-ho and Young-ran are united in matrimony.
A flashback reveals an earlier encounter in the day, where Lee Don coerces Young-ran into signing a contract that meticulously outlines the terms of her alliance with Seong-ho. The document stipulates that Young-ran will assume the role of majority stakeholder exactly three months post Seong-ho’s passing, during the company board meeting. Furthermore, Lee Don emphasizes the necessity for Young-ran to ensure that Seong-ho’s stepchildren are barred from ever wielding power within the company.
Following the marriage registration, Young-ran chauffeurs Seong-ho and Lee Don to the corporate headquarters. In a display of newfound authority, she instructs the attorney to address Seong-ho’s nagging mother, now under the guise of her being his new superior.
The following day, Young-ran, Lee Don, and Seong-ho convened in the latter's office, deliberating over a strategy to shield Young-ran from the clutches of Seon-young. Seong-ho proposed that Young-ran should relocate to Lee Don’s hometown, Muchang, a place where her presence would remain undiscovered. Lee Don chimed in, suggesting that Young-ran could assume the role of a kindergarten teacher for a three-month stint until the pivotal stakeholder’s meeting.
Just as the conversation reached a lull, Young-ran’s sharp eyes caught sight of Butler Choi lurking in the shadows, spying on them. Without hesitation, she exposed Butler Choi’s surreptitious act to Seong-ho. In a bid to outmaneuver Seon-young, Seong-ho offered Butler Choi a more substantial sum of money, hoping to buy her silence and loyalty.
Later that afternoon, Seong-ho crossed paths with Dong-min and couldn't help but compliment the latter’s strawberries. In the course of their exchange, he discovered that Dong-min, too, hailed from Muchang. Young-ran, observing from a distance, noted the interaction between Seong-ho and Dong-min.
However, the tranquility of the day was shattered when Young-ran received an urgent call from Seong-ho, who had succumbed to a collapse in his room. Panic-stricken, she rushed him to the hospital, where the doctor delivered the grim news that Seong-ho’s cancer was advancing relentlessly.
The hospital nurse, privy to the confidential information, tipped off Seon-young about Seong-ho’s deteriorating condition, a revelation that sent the Ga siblings into a frenzy of excitement. Seong-ho, driven by a desire to end his suffering and to propel Young-ran’s ascendancy, made the fateful decision to end his own life.
One fateful day, Seong-ho took his own life with a gunshot. The suddenness of the act left Young-ran reeling, but Lee Don, ever the steadfast ally, urged her to steel herself for the challenges that lay ahead.
The next day, Seon-woo and Seon-young arrived at the funeral home, prepared to mourn their late stepfather. However, their world was turned upside down when they learned of Seong-ho’s secret marriage and caught sight of Young-ran at the funeral. Lee Don, acting swiftly, whisked Young-ran away from the prying eyes, while Dong-min appeared to pay his respects to Seong-ho.
Back at the house, the staff were stunned to learn of Young-ran’s newfound status as their boss. Hye-ji, once Young-ran’s confidante, found herself grappling with the complexities of their evolved relationship.
Meanwhile, Seon-young and Seon-woo met with the lawyers, who painstakingly explained the revised terms of the contract, setting the stage for a new chapter filled with uncertainty and intrigue.
They engage in a heated discussion about how Young-ran has suddenly entered the fray and what repercussions this might have on their shares. The two siblings are seething with anger over Seong-ho's decision to hand over their shares to a complete stranger. However, the lawyers assert that the majority of the assets amassed by Seong-ho were obtained after their mother's passing.
That very night, Seon-young makes a clandestine call to Butler Choi, instructing her to confine Young-ran within the house until she can devise a plan to get rid of her for good. Unbeknownst to Seon-young, Hye-ji tips off Young-ran about this sinister scheme, giving Young-ran a crucial advantage. With newfound resolve, Young-ran launches a surprise attack on Butler Choi and Cheol-su, managing to break free from their grasp.
Hye-ji further aids Young-ran's escape by submerging all the car keys in scalding hot water, effectively immobilizing any pursuit. Meanwhile, Seong-ho's funeral is underway, but Seon-young remains undeterred, dispatching guards to hunt down Young-ran. In a clever move, Young-ran dons a disguise to elude the relentless guards hot on her trail.
Lee Don informs Se-mi that she will assume the identity of Bu Se-mi during her three-month stay at Muchang. He equips her with a handful of counterfeit IDs and credit cards to facilitate her new persona. He also cautions Young-ran to steer clear of romantic entanglements as she boards the bus bound for Muchang.
The episode culminates in a dramatic twist as Young-ran, still reeling from the recent events, is stunned to find Dong-min waiting for her at the bus station, posing as Principal Lee Mi-sun's cousin.
