My Family – Season 1 Episode 3 1

As the episode progresses, Demetrio finds himself disturbed by flickering lights in his house. Convinced it's Fausto reaching out from beyond, he reaches out to Mari, who dismisses his notions as mere superstition. He implores her to stay the night, and with a hint of hesitation, she agrees. Teasingly, she suggests using Morse code to decipher the mysterious signals, interspersing humor to alleviate Demetrio's tense demeanor. She reminds him that indulging in melancholy is a luxury he can't afford. Demetrio steadfastly maintains that his fall was a mere accident, yet his protestations fall on deaf ears.

The following morning, Demetrio ventures to the phone store with the intention of canceling Fausto's cell phone plan. Scrolling through the messages, he stumbles upon one from a friend of Libero's mother, announcing her impending visit and her desire for her daughter, Serena, to reconnect with Libero.

Later, the family gathers to celebrate Lucia's birthday, an occasion marred by Valerio's melodramatic outbreak upon reading Libero's scathing essay about their family. Libero's critique is particularly harsh towards Valerio, highlighting his drug issues. Sergio, also in attendance, is taken aback by the sudden explosion of emotions. Libero storms out of the celebration, prompting Demetrio to intervene. He mentions Serena's visit, igniting Libero's enthusiasm for a reunion.

Prior to their meeting, Libero asks Demetrio to pose as his father. Demetrio strikes up a rapport with Serena's mother while the children engage in playful activities. As the play date draws to a close, Demetrio is reminded of Fausto's wisdom to cherish every moment. He encourages Libero to confess his feelings for Serena, and the youngster, emboldened by Demetrio's encouragement, does just that. Serena appears delighted by the heartfelt confession.

A poignant flashback transports us to a time before Libero's birth, when Demetrio stumbled upon a woman's shirt in Fausto's closet, an unexpected discovery that prompts Sarah's icy rage. She unleashes a tirade, shattering belongings before locking herself in a room. Accusing Fausto of infidelity, her accusation hangs heavy in the air. Demetrio, eventually breaking down the door, is met with Sarah's confession: she had mistakenly remembered the shirt as her own, revealing her struggles with attacks of paranoia.

As she undergoes an ethereal detachment from her body, she finds herself unable to recognize familiar faces or objects, her pregnancy preventing her from resorting to her usual medication. With a heavy heart, she makes Demetrio swear to keep the events of that day a secret from Fausto.

Meanwhile, Ercole inadvertently discovers a vibrator in Lucia's room, sparking Valerio's immediate suspicion and confrontation with her. Mari seizes the vibrator, endeavoring to elucidate the entire scenario to Ercole, but everyone hastily denies ownership.

In a subsequent memory flashback, the vibrator's origin is unveiled. It actually belongs to Fausto, who, along with Demetrio, once catered to a wealthy and influential client who owned a sex toy enterprise. The client proposed a deal: she would purchase an apartment from them if they posed nude to promote her latest vibrator. Demetrio, steadfast in his refusal, abandoned the offer, while Fausto stayed back, took the photos, and received the vibrator as a token of gratitude. Worried that Fausto might be betraying Sarah, Demetrio confronted him about his actions.

Returning to the present, Demetrio steps back into the house, sensing the tense atmosphere. Ercole recounts how the vibrator ignited a fiery dispute, prompting Demetrio to leave abruptly. Waiting for the bus, Demetrio recalls Fausto's advice to disseminate a specific message among his friends during difficult times. Obediently, Demetrio forwards Fausto's message to everyone.

Addressing the children, Fausto reminisces about their joyful beach memories and urges them to dance whenever sadness overshadows them. To Valerio, he reflects on their youthful days, where Valerio heroically saved his life, and beseeches him to safeguard his children. Fausto then turns to Lucia, advising her to steer clear of dating and spend more quality time with the boys, reminiscing fondly about his own childhood, where his happiest moments were spent with his single mother. To Maria, he mentions a regretful mistake fueled by alcohol. Lastly, he exhorts everyone to dance their sorrows away. The children turn up the music, and soon, everyone is lost in the rhythm. Lucia decides to cancel her date with Sergio, choosing instead to spend the night with her siblings.

In a poignant flashback, the night unfolds as Fausto lags behind with a client to capture fleeting moments through his lens. Meanwhile, Sarah's labor pains commence, yet Demetrio's desperate attempts to reach Fausto fall on deaf ears. Ultimately, Fausto's tardiness leaves Demetrio to stand in the gap, offering support to Sarah and her newborn at the hospital. Upon his belated arrival, Fausto offers Demetrio a heartfelt apology.

In the present, Mari serendipitously visits Demetrio's abode, querying the origin of Fausto's message that had inexplicably pinged on her device. Demetrio, unable to conceal his feelings any longer, confesses his deep admiration for her. Their shared emotions culminate in a tender kiss. Elsewhere, Sarah unexpectedly appears at the children's apartment, only to be firmly, yet politely, escorted away by Valerio. Libero, overhearing the exchange, is visibly affected by the rejection Sarah faces.

As the day progresses, Demetrio finds himself engrossed in an enigmatic puzzle. He attempts to decode a message hidden within the flickering lights using Morse code, the dots and dashes triggering memories of his own past accident. His mind drifts back to the fateful moment when he peered over a balcony, the world spinning below. To his astonishment, the message revealed by the lights is an unexpected and somewhat humorous insult from Fausto, branding Demetrio an "asshole."
