Inside the room, Ebony assists Coltrane in changing his attire, and she starts a timer as he sneaks out through the back door. Meanwhile, she plays a sound clip designed to confuse the guard. Coltrane then lets his crew in through the back door and they swiftly make their way to a secret poker game. They swiftly take control and steal all the money.

One of the robbers decides to secretly take an expensive watch from the victims, despite Coltrane's advice to the contrary. The rest of the crew then slowly make their way out, blending seamlessly into the crowd at the Halloween party in their robber costumes.

Meanwhile, Coltrane returns to a nervous Ebony and changes back into his original outfit. They leave the room and thank the guard.

Elsewhere, we meet Officer Stiles, who is visiting his father, Amos, in the neighborhood. Their relationship is strained due to Stiles' decision to become a cop and his resentment towards his father for his late brother's disappearance.

Stiles is working on a kidnapping case when they receive information about the girl's location. He and his partner follow the lead, rescue the girl, and kill one of the kidnappers.

At the station, Stiles overhears Nick telling his partner, Harper, about the robbery. Stiles suspects that the robbery is more than just a stolen watch and tries to assist Nick. However, Nick is dismissive of his help and insists that he will find the crew once they sell the watch. Stiles is skeptical and believes that the Halloween crew is the same one he's been hunting down, but no one believes him.

In the interim, Coltrane convened with Darren, Chris, and Deon to distribute the proceeds from their latest endeavor. Their mild irritation was evident as Deon had taken the watch without permission, and they warned him against fencing it. Deon insisted that Coltrane owed them for the seven months they had taken off to give him time to address a personal matter. Darren agreed, and Coltrane promised to secure them two more jobs within the next two months to make amends.

At the station, the police chief, a fond admirer of Stiles, requested that he drop the investigation into his ghost crew. He believed that Stiles's performance had suffered since the death of his trainee, Manny Shaw. The chief reminded Stiles that they had already apprehended the crew responsible for Shaw's demise and urged him to drop the matter. Sealey, however, refused to let Stiles work on the Halloween robbery case, despite his best efforts to convince him otherwise. He encouraged Stiles to focus on securing a captain's promotion instead.

Stiles expressed his disinterest in a promotion, and Sealey reminded him that he was already running late for his dinner with Candace. Stiles rushed home to find Candace disappointed in his tardiness. It soon became clear that Stiles and Candace were in the midst of a separation. Candace felt that Stiles was too focused on work and neglected their family. She was also unimpressed that he had forgotten it was their anniversary.

She asserts that he is a carbon copy of his father, except he traded the streets for a badge. He reminds her that she could have chosen Malik, but she chose him instead. The night ends up being a disappointment for both of them. Later, Candace discovers a gift on her bed and realizes that Stiles remembered their anniversary after all.

At Coltrane's house, Ebony declares that she's out of the business for good. After experiencing a miscarriage, things have changed. She remains supportive, but she also wants Coltrane to start seriously considering getting out. He promises he will after he resolves his issues with his boys. They end up skipping dinner and making love. We soon realize that the miscarriage really shook Coltrane too.

The following morning, Stiles tries to earn some brownie points by making breakfast and catching up with his son. Candace apologizes for the anniversary misunderstanding, and they end up having sex. Seales calls, ruining the moment, and Stiles insists on taking it. He meets with Sealey, who gives him the files on the Halloween case. Sealey doesn't believe him when he says that Shaw's killers are still out there. He also warns him to drop the issue before he loses his reputation. Sealey is trying to convince the brass that Stiles is captain material, needing him focused, not chasing ghosts.

Later, Coltrane meets with his lawyer and gets a call from Charlie, Ebony's sister. She is also the one who gets jobs for the crew. They pay Tanya, their inside girl, on the Halloween job. Coltrane asks for another job, and Charlie tells him about 6 million worth of untraceable diamond stones that are being kept in three separate jewelry stores on the same block. Charlie reminds him to be careful because they both care for Ebony, who needs them.

The next day, Coltrane updates his team on the latest job. They have two weeks to get the diamonds before they are moved, but Coltrane has a plan. He's not sure he can trust Deon, but Darren vouches for his uncle.

Elsewhere, the father of the kidnapped girl, revealed to be the leader of the Viejo Cartel, meets secretly with Stiles. He thanks Stiles for saving his daughter after his territory dispute escalated. He asks Stiles to contact him if he ever needs a favor that is outside the police's purview.

On the other hand, Charlie strives to persuade Ebony to rejoin the game, yet she refuses, stating that her miscarriage has irrevocably altered her perspective. The day of the robbery, Stiles takes his son, Noah, out for lunch, seeking to forge a bond through conversations about basketball and Noah's crush. However, when Amos's name is brought up, Stiles insists that Noah must avoid him due to his grandfather's negative influence. Noah is left confused and caught in the middle of this feud. As they sit, a few police cars pass by, prompting Noah to ask his dad to check the radio. Relieved, Stiles chooses to stay for their lunch rather than head to the convention centre to assist his colleagues.

Simultaneously, Coltrane and his crew execute the jewel heist. However, things take a turn for the worse when Deon becomes distracted, and a security guard draws his gun. Darren is forced to eliminate two guards. Surprisingly, the crew also deliberately triggers the alarm in the second store. They blast through the wall to access the third store, secure all the diamonds, and manage to escape.

The alarm from the second store alerts the police to the ongoing robbery, but all available officers are currently at the convention centre. Stiles abruptly abandons Noah and orders him an Uber. He rushes to the jewellery stores but arrives too late; the crew has vanished. The remaining officers arrive and wonder why the crew killed two guards without taking anything. Stiles is consumed by the crew's discipline and blames himself for not capturing them seven months ago. However, his partner doubts they are even pursuing the same individuals.

Upon learning that Stiles abandoned their son, Candace vents her frustration to Ebony via text. It turns out they are colleagues and friends who are co-hosting a gala together. Coltrane returns home feeling frustrated and excuses himself to head to his office without ever meeting Candace. In his office, he watches a live news interview with Stiles, who offers the crew two options: jail or death, urging them to choose wisely. Coltrane recognizes Stiles from their previous encounter during events leading to Shaw's murder. It appears that Stiles was correct; they are indeed the crew involved in his trainee's death.
