Just as tensions peak, the plane abruptly veers off course, slamming into a bustling street below and erupting in a ball of flames. Bewilderment ripples through the crowd as In-ho and Jae-yoon steel themselves to press on with their mission to procure gasoline, undeterred by the chaos.
Elsewhere, Young-joo's panic reaches a fever pitch following the catastrophe, while Jin-wook slips into a state of shock. Recognizing Jin-wook's impotence, Young-joo swiftly removes the enigmatic eye pendant from her neck and stashes it in a bag. She then rushes to aid the man impaled on the hood of a car, pleading with onlookers for assistance. Alas, their indifference leaves her struggling alone until Alex, a renowned CEO, steps forward. Together, they attempt to free the trapped man, but Alex's earnestness leads to an accidental rib-crushing, turning the crowd's gratitude into accusations of murder.
Simultaneously, In-ho and Jae-yoon encounter the hotel manager, Arron Park, in the elevator. Park's displeasure at their presence is evident, and their altercation is abruptly halted as the elevator lurches to a stop. With Park radioing for help, power is restored within moments, and they descend to the 53rd floor to find pandemonium reigning—people darting every which way and walls spattered with blood. A wounded man stumbles into the elevator's path, only to meet his fate as the doors, opening and closing, fatally crush his skull.
Meanwhile, Young-joo continues documenting the accident, her plea for help drawing Alex into the fray. Despite his best intentions and CPR efforts, Alex inadvertently causes further harm, and the crowd's mood turns hostile. As Young-joo struggles to extricate Jin-wook from the car, she notices his humiliation and fear manifested in a pool of urine at his feet. Alex engages Jin-wook in conversation, just as Young-joo spots an impending truck. Her urgent warning prompts Alex to persuade Jin-wook to evacuate mere seconds before the truck obliterates their vehicle.Simultaneously, In-ho, Jae-yoon, and Park exit the elevator only to confront a zombie head-on. To their astonishment, the creature, despite having half its body crushed, inches toward them with relentless determination. In-ho slips on the zombie's exposed innards, nearly losing his balance. Meanwhile, Park finds himself confronted by a female zombie, prompting In-ho and Jae-yoon to spring into action to assist him. In-ho conceives the ingenious plan to utilize alcohol to incinerate the zombie, and the strategy proves successful. Following this encounter, the trio decides to go their separate ways. Park insists on staying put, awaiting reinforcement, and receives a chilling call from a security guard informing him that the building has fallen under zombie control. Park urges In-ho and Jae-yoon to return to their base while he endeavors to rescue the lone surviving guard.
Out on the streets, Alex attempts to lend aid to Young-joo, while Jin-wook lags behind, griping about his vehicle. As the streets become increasingly populated with zombies, the trio is dispersed. Young-joo flees and finds refuge in a salon, thanks to a woman who comes to her rescue. Jin-wook, on the other hand, dashes to an abandoned store to change his clothes, oblivious to a man concealed amidst the dummies and apparel. As for Alex, his fate remains uncertain amidst the zombie onslaught.
At the base, soldiers brace themselves after the declaration of martial law and a state of emergency. They are placed on high alert, with a five-minute standby order. Sergeant Jung grows anxious about the whereabouts of two fellow sergeants and In-ho and Jae-yoon, who were dispatched on a gasoline run. The other soldiers, glued to the news, share concerns for their families' safety.
Tragically, In-ho and Jae-yoon arrive at the base to find the doors firmly shut. With no alternative, they resort to attempting the north stairs, a perilous route that necessitates revisiting the zombie-infested areas. They backtrack and come across a terrified Soo-jeong, hiding in a restricted staff room.
While taking shelter in the salon with its owner, Young-joo receives a call from her mother. Initially, her mother is enraged to learn Young-joo is in Gangnam to see Jae-yoon. However, her tone softens, urging Young-joo to head towards the base, deemed the safest haven. Young-joo promptly texts Jae-yoon, informing him of her ongoing journey.
As the night drags on with relentless slowness, Jin-wook embarks on a desperate search for Young-joo. Suddenly, the shadow that has dogged his steps since departing the store strikes with ferocity. Fortunately, this confrontation unfolds just outside the salon where Young-joo has taken refuge. She dashes to his aid without hesitation, and amid the chaos, Jin-wook urges them both to make a beeline for the nearest police station, seeking sanctuary amidst the law's protection.
Meanwhile, in the confinement of the storage room, In-ho devises a makeshift arsenal, transforming sanitizers and cleaning agents into makeshift bombs. With bottles brimming with potential, they steel themselves for the perilous journey to the reception desk, where the phone lies as their ticket to hope. Yet, their progress is abruptly halted by the lurching form of a zombie. Jae-yoon attempts to incinerate the creature's visage, but to no avail; the zombie persists, a grim testament to its undead tenacity. Desperation drives In-ho to use a tool with brutal efficiency, cleaving through half of the zombie's brain.
As they push onward, their comrades on the top floor pledge to search tirelessly for their bodies should the worst befall them. Tension thickens in the air, and the soldiers' patience frays as they maintain their vigilant watch. Elsewhere, In-ho, Soo-jeong, and Jae-yoon witness Chef Jung's heroic struggle to contain the zombie horde behind glass doors in the kitchen.
