Back in Mexico, Moishe informs Valeria of Leo's escape with the kids, leaving her in a state of desperation. Carlos, ever-supportive and unwavering, stands by her side. Desperate for help, Valeria reaches out to her old friends, only to be met with judgment for her infidelity. Looking back, Valeria reminisces on the night everything began – a party at one of Carlos's friends' houses, Susana's. Leo and Gabby resisted dancing, prompting Susana to suggest Carlos dance with Valeria. As the night progressed, Carlos revealed a love poem he had written for her. Initially, she tried to deny her feelings but by the end of the night, she found herself hiding behind the trees, kissing him.

In South Africa, Leo experiences cultural shock as they navigate the country's abhorrent racism in 1965, when apartheid was still in effect. Interpol is hot on his trail, and to enter Israel, he must use his real identity.

Valeria and her family's decision to bring the matter to the media only exacerbates the situation. When the children hear that Valeria no longer wishes to see them, their anger boils over, and they run away in a fit of rage. Leo chases after Isaac while Raquel follows Tammy, each one soothing their young hearts. Later, Raquel advises Leo to be honest with the kids rather than continuing the cycle of lies.

Back in Mexico, Moishe enlists his friends to rally behind him and challenge Samuel. Some men are unconcerned about what Leo is doing, seeing the kids merely as traveling with their father. However, as the media attention intensifies, they are forced to take a stand. In a vote to expel one of the men from the bank, Moishe emerges victorious, and Samuel is asked to sell his shares.

Following the vote loss, Samuel evicts Valeria from their shared home. He wagers that the children will return as soon as Valeria loses custody of them, banking on the Jewish community's ostracism of her.

Valeria confronts Gayla at the salon, explaining herself in front of everyone. She shares that she is losing her kids because she dared to fall in love. The women empathize with her situation as many of them were forced into marriage at 18. Yet, no one dares to help Valeria until Gayla finally intervenes on her behalf. Gabby and Samuel insist on winning the war at any cost.

Gayla steps away from the fray, refusing to be led by hate and revenge. As Valeria's desperation grows, she does a press interview, pleading for any lead into Leo's whereabouts.

In the vibrant yet troubled landscapes of South Africa, Raquel invites Leo into the fold of the anti-apartheid movement, where he is warmly welcomed as a newcomer. As time passes, a tender romance blossoms between Leo and Raquel, and he steps up to fill some crucial roles within the group. Meanwhile, Shabban, at Samuel's behest, has a tail on Leo's movements, learning to his dismay that Leo is part of the movement. Shabban cautions Leo to keep a low profile, but Leo's resolve is firm – he yearns to break free from Shabban's shadow and find his own footing in life.

One fateful day, Leo and Raquel are driving with the children, when they are pulled over by the police for a routine check-up. As they rummage through the boot of their car, the police stumble upon banned music records, setting off a confrontation with Raquel and Leo.

In the car's backseat, Isaac catches a glimpse of a news article with his mother's picture. He and Tammy use the police distraction as an opportunity to quietly slip away. It's only when the police are about to make an arrest that Leo notices the kids are gone. Raquel pleads with the officers to let Leo go and search for the children instead.
