Néro the Assassin – Season 1 Episode 7 1

Together, they approach the archbishop, who conducts a blood test to verify Perla's lineage. Relief washes over Perla and the prince when the archbishop announces that she bears no relation to the devil. Ecstatic, they depart to celebrate, oblivious to the malevolent glint in the archbishop's eyes.

The next morning, chaos reigns as villagers scatter in panic before the arrival of Brother Penance. Amidst the turmoil, Néro, Horace, and the witch navigate through the throngs of people, seeking refuge and devising their next strategy. The witch, her condition worsening due to an infected wound, entrusts Horace with a signed stone, instructing him to plant it in a precise location within the citadel.

Meanwhile, inside the citadel, the nobles orchestrate a scheme to appoint a boy as a stand-in for the prince. Despite the prince's objections, he is overruled by the consensus that this deception is in everyone's best interest. The archbishop, too, insists on an immediate wedding.

Back at the citadel's gates, Horace manages to infiltrate the premises and is greeted warmly by the Holy See. However, his confrontation with the Holy See over the falsehoods propagated about Perla and the witches reveals his changed allegiance. Sensing this shift, the Holy See lunges at Horace with a dagger, but Horace defends himself, ultimately slaying his attacker. His victory is short-lived, as he is promptly apprehended, and the witch, attuned to his plight, senses his capture.

Elsewhere, Josephine begins to doubt Rochemort's sincerity, questioning whether his lies are meant to protect her due to his reservations about their plan. Their conversation is abruptly interrupted by a soldier who informs Rochemort that Néro is requesting an audience with him, setting the stage for further intrigue and conflict.

Néro outwits Rochemort and places the dark necklace upon him. He then commands Rochemort to bring Perla to him and aid in devising a plan to save her. With his very life hanging in the balance, Rochemort manages to orchestrate a meeting between Perla and her father. However, Perla, upon noticing that Néro no longer wears the necklace, refuses to trust him. She assumes that he has sold her out to the witch in a desperate bid to save his own skin. Determined not to fall into his trap, she refuses to accompany him and instead makes her way to the church to attend Hortense’s wedding.

At the wedding, chaos erupts as the archbishop turns against the prince, unveiling Perla’s true identity to all present. He calls Horace forward as a witness. The prince, demanding an explanation, is left stunned when the archbishop vehemently denies his earlier claim that Perla is the last descendant of the devil. Seizing the opportunity amidst the prince’s confusion, the archbishop accuses him of being bewitched and having succumbed to evil.

With a swift move, the archbishop has the prince arrested, and the wedding ceremony is abruptly halted, never to reach its intended conclusion. Meanwhile, the guards escort Horace back to his prison cell and proceed to search his belongings. They discover the stone, and Horace pleads with them to hand it over. After much begging, one of the soldiers finally relents and turns the stone.

The witch, sensing the stone's activation, prepares Néro for the ritual. She instructs him to disrobe and lie down, then gives him something to swallow, cautioning him not to speak to anyone in the underworld. As soon as he consumes whatever she has given him, Néro collapses, and she proceeds to bury his body.

Elsewhere, the prince, Hortense, and Rochemort find themselves confined in a room. Hortense comes to the realization that her father has betrayed them to Brother Penance. When they confront him, he shows no remorse, eagerly anticipating Brother Penance’s arrival to kill the archbishop. Tragically, their hopes are dashed when Brother Penance arrives and declares his unwavering loyalty to the archbishop.

In a merciless display of power, Brother Penance and his followers slaughter all the nobles present at the event, sparing only Josephine. It is then revealed that Brother Penance has been secretly working for the archbishop all along.

Meanwhile, in the underworld, Néro is reunited with Callista. She hinders his progress, bombarding him with questions about their daughter. Eventually, he snaps out of it and refocuses on his mission. He locates the stone within the underworld and turns it over, instantly awakening in his prison cell. With a surge of adrenaline, he launches into a fierce battle with the alarmed soldiers.

Upstairs, amidst the tense atmosphere, Josephine deftly hands the guards poisoned concoctions, one by one, rendering them helpless. With a swift and determined motion, she springs her brother free, along with Hortense and Rochemort, their eyes gleaming with newfound hope.

But chaos erupts in an instant. In the midst of the frantic struggle, the prince is viciously stabbed, his cry echoing through the stone corridors. Hortense, without a moment's hesitation, sprints to the prison cells. With keys jangling in her hand, she liberates Néro from his chains. Then, she turns her attention to freeing Lothar and Zanib, their grateful gazes following her every move. Meanwhile, Néro, emboldened by his freedom, breaks the shackles binding Horace and Perla, their faces lighting up with relief.

Outside, the witch, a figure of dark power and menace, storms into the citadel. With a wave of her hand, she dispatches the guards, clearing a path through the mayhem for Néro and the rest of the group to escape. As they make their way out, the witch presses the black knife into Perla's palm, her voice a low, insistent whisper reminding her of the mission that lay ahead.

The witch then hangs back, a lone figure standing against the tide of enemies. She fights with a ferocity born of desperation, buying the others precious seconds to flee. But her valiant efforts are in vain. Brother Penance and his men descend upon her, their weapons flashing in the dim light. With a final, tragic cry, the witch falls, her life extinguished.

As she dies, a strange phenomenon occurs. The necklace around Rochemort's neck suddenly snaps, the pieces scattering to the ground as if freed from some ancient curse. The group, their hearts heavy with loss but fueled by determination, presses on, making their way out of the citadel and into the uncertain future that awaits them.
