In Episode 8 of One Piece season 2, the plot thickens as Dalton is brought before Wapol, who gleefully sits on his throne of lies, claiming that Drum Island is his birthright and that he's about to take over with force. Unfortunately for Wapol, he has now acquired the powers of the Munch Munch Devil Fruit, turning him into a sort of human factory that can consume, transform, and combine anything he eats. However, Dalton has a secret of his own – he can transform into a beast and pounce on Wapol.

One Piece (Netflix) – Season 2 Episode 8 1

Wapol bites back, revealing that he's turned his entire army into a mindless horde of monsters that are marching towards the city. This means that Usopp, Zoro, and Vivi need to keep the city safe no matter what. Meanwhile, Miss All Sunday catches up to Vivi but she refuses to go down without a fight. Sunday decides to stir things up, explaining that Wapol has new powers and that she should get involved and take the blame when the Straw Hats fall and die.

The fight with Wapol ensues, and Luffy catches wind of what's happening courtesy of Vivi reaching the top of the mountain with Usopp's makeshift grappling hook. Luffy is confident they can just swoop in and kick Wapol's ass, but Kureha is not so sure. She thinks hiding is the better option. Chopper, however, refuses to go with her and decides to help out the Straw Hats instead.

Unfortunately for everyone, Wapol heads into the witch's castle and returns to claim it for himself. Luffy is ready for a big fight, but Vivi steps up first and promises that he won't break her. Vivi strikes him across the jaw before Luffy jumps in. The fight goes back and forth, but in truth, it's not much of a contest for Luffy. Vivi eventually jumps in to land a killer strike too.

When Wapol's henchmen show up, Chopper transforms and gets involved to keep them at bay with Sanji. The pair work really well together and subdue them. In the midst of all this chaos, Luffy even manages to protect Chopper's flag from Wapol's direct hit.

In the bustling city below, Zoro leads the group in a fierce battle against Wapol's monstrous army. Swords clash and clash, while Kureha discovers an injured Dalton, ready to do whatever it takes to fight back and prevent Wapol from plunging the kingdom into misery. With Kureha's assistance, Dalton is patched up and returns in time to help the townsfolk.

Kureha, armed with a shotgun instead of magical powers, joins the fray. They continue to battle until Wapol is finally destroyed, taking down his army with him. The Drum Kingdom is saved, and the group reunites. Kureha sets to work organizing traffic and cleaning up the place. Dalton also reunites with Chopper, shocked by what has happened and thanking the group for helping to save the Kingdom from this tyrannical ruler.

Luffy decides that Chopper should join them as a Straw Hat. Despite Chopper's protests, Luffy shuts him up, and Chopper eventually agrees to come with them. Before leaving, Chopper informs Kureha of his decision.

The group eventually sets sail for the High Seas, leaving Drum Kingdom behind. Chopper finds solace with Usopp, who empathizes with him over leaving home.

On Drum Island, Kureha fires the doctor's concoction into the air via cannon, creating a beautiful flurry of makeshift snow that illuminates the sky in a brilliant shade of pink. It's not snow, but cherry blossom petals, designed to give the people hope.

When Chopper sees this, he can't help but sob as they sail away from the island. As they do, Kureha and Dalton speak. Interestingly, it turns out that Gol D. Rogers' name is actually Gold Rogers, which leads us into the mythos surrounding names that we learn later in the manga/anime.

For now, it's onto Alabasta to help Vivi reclaim her Kingdom. This is something that Captain Smoker also learns from the marine outpost. Garp doesn't want Mr. Zero's identity known until he has proof. For now, all roads lead to Alabasta – which is where Captain Smoker is heading too.

As the episode concludes, Miss All Sunday briefs what's happened to Mr. Zero, Sir Crocodile. They're gathering all their agents into Alabasta, where we also learn that Miss Sunday is actually Nico Robin. Sir Crocodile is confident he'll get the One Piece... but we'll have to wait for season 3 to find out what happens next!
