Their fateful journey culminates at Craig's abode, where a bitter ex-lover of Lucy's, who was left behind when she departed, resides. Craig, though advocating for Jules, concedes that there might be some truth to her being a clone. Jules remains guarded, but they uncover that she was involved in a tragic car accident that killed her parents and erased her memories, a convenient detail indeed. With her grandfather ill, she has been taken under the Lees' wing.

Orphan Black: Echoes – Season 1 Episode 2 1

Lucy reveals the intricacies of clone creation to Jules and tries to substantiate her claims by showcasing their identical wrist scars. However, upon examining Jules' arm for the telltale Additive imprint, they find none. Meanwhile, Cosima sends Felix to check on the agitated Kira, who is racked with guilt, wondering if she had somehow wronged Lucy. The uncle and nephew reunite, and we learn that Felix has flourished as an artist, while Kira has grown apart from Sara, who heads a charity. Kira's son, Lucas, is a high school dropout and a devout Quaker. Felix attempts to soothe Kira's nerves by taking her to a lively club.

Elsewhere, Tom and his trusted accomplice Emily journey to Dr. Darros's secluded nature sanctuary. The eccentric and wealthy doctor is obsessed with saving endangered turtles, but his single-minded pursuit of Jules knows no bounds, even if it means eliminating Lucy. However, he has not disclosed this to Kira, who remains in the dark about Jules' abduction.

Back at their abode, Jules cleverly disguised her actions as if to urinate, concealing herself within the confines of the bathroom. Meanwhile, Lucy, having regained her composure, apologized outside and attempted to evoke sympathy, citing their shared loss of memory. However, Jules, her instincts sharpened, stealthily yanked out a pipe, lulled Lucy into a false sense of security, and struck her with a sudden stab before fleeing the scene.

As Jack and his daughter, Charlie, returned to their makeshift abode at Tina's, a fellow soldier who knew Jack intimately, they were greeted with Charlie's still-shaken demeanor. Jack endeavored to soothe her, but their tranquility was abruptly disrupted by Lucy, her face smeared with blood, sheepishly explaining her inability to seek medical attention. Jack, without hesitation, stitched her wounds, and Lucy was reunited with Charlie, her tearful eyes reflecting a mix of relief and confusion.

At the club, Kira's demeanor was anything but serene as she relentlessly pursued contact with Josh. She finally confessed to Felix that she was printing neurons, yet these transplanted cells failed to establish communication. Believing that cocaine might amplify the signal, she kept her theory a closely guarded secret, fearing it might jeopardize her funding. Felix, with his resourcefulness, swiftly procured the drug for her, yet his attempt to have Lucas check on Kira fell through.

Jules' journey home was fraught with tension. She greeted her stepfather, James, with cold indifference, as he accused her of skipping school. She revealed the truth to her adopted brother, Wes, but their focus remained fixated on Lucy, the so-called "crazy kidnapper." The air was charged with tension between James and Lucy, as Neva had been the one hellbent on adopting her. As Neva returned, the argument between her and James escalated, leaving Jules to silently observe the drama. She browsed through her photos taken before the car crash, initially finding them ordinary until she noticed the doll beside her, its pristine condition contrasting sharply with its appearance in a childhood photograph of herself.

At Tina's abode, Jack's annoyance escalated when he discovered Lucy was once again departing, having uncovered an address for Neva. He stood firm, demanding an explanation, else he threatened to bid farewell forever. Lucy relented and led him to the deserted laboratory where she was created. She spilled her secrets, and despite his disbelief, Jack embraced her in comfort.

Back at Additive, Felix delicately prodded Kira to reveal her troubles. It transpired that her project aimed to aid those requiring transplants, yet they had yet to embark on full-body transplants publicly, like the human trial Lucy may have become. Guilt-ridden by the thought of her potentially flawed creation, Kira fretted over her shortcomings and selfishness. Her despair deepened when her cocaine experiment faltered.

Neva checked on Jules, who seemed adrift in her new surroundings. The stepmother assured her that she didn't need to know Jules' past to appreciate her beauty. Their conversation was cut short by a security alert, incorrectly assuming Jules had entered Neva's office.

Unbeknownst to them, Lucy had inadvertently been scanned at Neva's office and identified as Jules Lee due to their identical DNA. She crept into Neva's office and stumbled upon a family portrait captured against the backdrop of Beacon Bayview. It also became evident that Neva worked for Currentsy, a subsidiary of Darros' enterprise. As Lucy sneaked back to Jack, Tom informed Darros of Jules' return and Lucy's whereabouts.

Jules decided to video call her grandfather, who insisted the scar on her wrist stemmed from a bicycle accident. Though reassured, after the call, it was revealed that the grandfather was merely an actor hired by Additive. At the conclusion of Orphan Black: Echoes Episode 2, he departed the set alongside Jules' bodyguard, leaving a trail of unanswered questions.
