Episode 2 of "Our Movie" kicks off with a poignant flashback. Da-eum, an unassuming extra on a bustling film set, suddenly succumbs to an attack that disrupts the take, casting a shadow over the proceedings. The scene segues into a poignant montage depicting Da-eum's mother, her health failing, and her father, a tireless doctor, working tirelessly by her side in search of a miracle. Mrs. Lee, with a playful twist, introduces a handycam, quipping that her IV drip resembles grape juice, a moment of levity amidst grave circumstances. Tragically, she passes away, leaving Dr. Lee shattered by the revelation that her illness, a cruel genetic curse, has also been bestowed upon Da-eum.
At school, Da-eum auditions for a play portraying Frida Kahlo, embracing the thunderous applause with fervent passion. She narrates introspectively, acknowledging that life is fleeting and vows to live as many lives as possible through her craft as an actress. Despite her valiant effort to shun fear, she acknowledges the omnipresent specter of her own mortality, hanging over her like a dark cloud.
Da-eum encounters Je-ha at a restaurant and, upon discovering his involvement in a remake through a quick Google search, her curiosity piques. Enthralled by the original, she decides to revisit it, fatefully bumping into Je-ha at the cinema. Her fascination with the project deepens when she catches a glimpse of the remake's script at Dr. Kim's office, prompting her to plead with him for an opportunity to audition.
The present unfolds as Je-ha and Da-eum commence their session. He harbors a cynical view of epic love, which she passionately retorts, arguing that hope for love fuels she will to survive. Vulnerably, she confesses that the pain of her mother's funeral rekindled her mortal fear, wondering if he too knows the suffocating grip of dread. His heart stirs, memories of his ailing mother resurfacing.
In the climax of the original film, the female lead finds solace in survival. Conversely, the remake script spells doom for her character, a poignant parallelism that strikes a chord with Da-eum. She realizes that this film, mirroring her own narrative, could be her ticket to stardom.
As for Je-ha, the encounter ignites a creative spark, instilling Gyu-won, the female lead, with an indomitable will to fight on. Meanwhile, Seung-won advocates vehemently for Seo-yeong to take center stage. However, Je-ha believes she is better suited for the supportive role of Jung-hwa.Unfortunately, Seung-won reveals the harsh reality: the investors and Agent Go have already made up their minds, leaving little room for dissent. The stage is set for a dramatic clash of visions and destinies.
They proceed to hold auditions solely for the optics role, and as anticipated, every applicant brings their A-game, surpassing expectations. Da-eum enters with a performance so understated yet captivating that it sweeps everyone off their feet. Just as the male lead, Jung-woo, arrives on the scene, she discreetly exits, leaving a lasting impression. It transpires that Jung-woo was the star of Je-ha's directorial debut, 'The Lonely People.' Je-ha finds himself in a dilemma as he pursues Da-eum, warning her that engaging in such a demanding production could risk her life. She, however, argues that such a sacrifice might just propel the remake into viral fame. Troubled by the notion of exploiting her in such a manner, Je-ha finds himself wavering. Da-eum persists, convincing him that she embodies the essence of Gyu-won, insisting that this opportunity with him is her sole chance at an acting career, and she refuses to pass away with unfulfilled dreams.
Meanwhile, Agent Go secures Seo-yeong a role in a Hollywood film, leaving Seung-won desperate and resigned to keep Da-eum as an understudy, just in case they fail to persuade Seo-yeong. Fortunately for him, Jung-woo and Seo-yeong express mutual interest in collaborating on the remake. In fact, Seo-yeong goes as far as to coerce Agent Go into accepting the project, much to his chagrin. When Je-ha later offers Seo-yeong a supporting role, Go berates him for abandoning her when she needed him the most.
A flashback unfolds, revealing a news outlet catching Je-ha and Seo-yeong together. To shield her from potential scandal, Je-ha publicly denies their relationship and ends it with her, unaware that Seo-yeong was prepared to go public with their romance. Heartbroken, she grapples with the abrupt termination of their affair.
In the present, Je-ha finds himself unable to shake off thoughts of Da-eum, feeling as though her fate rests in his hands. The Assistant Director also reveals that the character of Gyu-won lacks depth, emphasizing the need to infuse her with ambition beyond merely saving the suicidal male lead, Hyun-sang. Seeking Da-eum's counsel once more, she confides that her dream is to create films that her loved ones can cherish in her absence. With renewed determination, she advocates for herself, asserting that she understands the value of living each moment to its fullest.
Next, she ventures to visit her father once more, pleading to be discharged as an outpatient. Ever since her recent episode, he has steadfastly denied her requests, and he does so again. She emphasizes poignantly that her mother passed away in the hospital all alone, a fate she fervently wishes to avoid.
Switching focus to Je-ha, he convenes with Investor Han, vowing to deliver a blockbuster remake. Yet, Han remains indifferent to the film itself. His true interest lies in monetizing the saga behind the scenes – Du-young's original creation, rumored to be a dedication to his late wife, crafted amidst an affair, now being revived by his son.
The narrative shifts to Da-eum, who triumphantly advances to the first round of auditions. Overjoyed, she celebrates with her friend and hastily dashes out of the hospital, her spirits soaring.
Round 2 unfolds as an interview conducted by Je-ha, who inquires about the impetus behind Da-eum's aspiration to become an actress. She shares that neither her mother nor she herself ever fulfilled their dreams. In her relentless pursuit, she has arrived at this juncture. Je-ha finds a poignant resonance in her tale, echoing his mother's journey that culminated in penning the screenplay for 'Love in White'.
As Our Movie Episode 2 draws to a close, Da-eum beams with optimism, urging Je-ha to place his trust in her. In return, his sole request of her is a heartfelt plea – not to succumb to fate.
