Episode 2 of "Our Unwritten Seoul" kicks off with a poignant flashback, where Ho-su's anger towards Mi-ji suddenly deflates upon realizing that she was blissfully unaware of his condition. Seeking to mend bridges, he ventures over to the neighboring house, where he encounters the twins, fresh from their bath and adorned with towel turbans. Despite the absence of their usual distinctive features, Ho-su’s intuition effortlessly distinguishes them.
The narrative then pivots to Mi-ji, now incognito as Mi-rae, in the office setting. A glimpse into their morning preparations reveals the twins swapping appearances: Mi-ji adorns herself with hair extensions, while Mi-rae boldly cuts her locks short, shying away from bleach but embracing the transformation.
The following dawn, Mi-ji arrives at Mi-rae’s workplace well ahead of time, only to be met with the startling revelation that the meeting she was anticipating had already commenced. Defying Mi-rae’s counsel to maintain a low profile, Mi-ji adopts a bold and assertive demeanor, leaving everyone in the room utterly astounded.
Meanwhile, Mi-rae, eager to steer clear of a visit to their grandmother that might blow her cover, opts for the strawberry farm as an alternative. There, she crosses paths with Han Se-jin, who, rather than assigning her chores, grants her the liberty to engage in whatever brings her joy until it’s time to collect her daily wages.
As days unfold, the twins start to find their footing in each other’s worlds. However, a twist in fate occurs when Mi-ji, still impersonating Mi-rae, is handed a new project by Mi-rae’s director. Enthusiastically accepting it, she belatedly uncovers its sinister nature: Convincing an elderly restaurateur to sell his land to the company, if she fails, all the responsibility will be shouldered by her.
At the restaurant, Mi-ji encounters vehement opposition. The elderly proprietor reacts with hostility, even throwing salt at her when she broaches the subject of the contract. Mi-ji later comprehends the director’s true intention – to rid himself of Mi-rae by setting her up for failure. Undeterred, Mi-ji persists in her attempts to win over the old woman’s favor, yet her endeavors remain fruitless.
Elsewhere, Ho-su finds himself increasingly disenchanted with his occupation, particularly the moral concessions it necessitates. It's in this frame of mind that he encounters Mi-ji, disguised as Mi-rae, and persuades her to engage in conversation. Intrigued by the possibility of gaining insight into Mi-rae's circumstances, Mi-ji agrees and leads him to a bar, its thundering music soon proving too much for Ho-su's sensibilities. Seeking a quieter refuge, they relocate to the serene banks of the Han River. There, amidst the tranquil backdrop, Mi-ji finally indulges in the cup of ramen she has long yearned for since her school days, evoking a nostalgic flashback where she and Ho-su crafted a bucket list of Seoul adventures, before Mi-ji's life-altering accident.
During their heartfelt exchange, Ho-su inquiries whether Mi-rae's withdrawal from the case was prompted by his involvement as the external investigator. Mi-ji, still in character as her sister, dismisses his worries with a nonchalant wave.
Meanwhile, at the farm, Mi-rae embarks on a mission to declutter a shed, inadvertently discarding an old chair. Se-jin, discovering this unauthorized act, expresses his dismay, accused her of acting outside her instructed duties. Mi-rae confronts him, accusing him of bullying through unspoken expectations rather than clear directives. As she cycles away in frustration, fate deals her another blow—a sudden fall that punctuates her escapade.
Later on, the sisters attempted to engage in a heartfelt conversation about their individual challenges, yet their efforts ultimately fell flat. Disguised as Mi-ji, Mi-rae visited their grandmother, who promptly spotted her through the disguise and commended her for coming back home.
Back at the workplace, Ho-su uncovered a scheme orchestrated by his senior: he had deliberately assigned Ho-su to Mi-rae's investigation, fully aware of their shared high school past, in a bid to coerce her into abandoning the case. This discovery made Ho-su increasingly uneasy about his complicity in perpetuating injustice.
The following day, Mi-ji ventured to the old restaurant owner once more, begging to be acknowledged as a fellow human. Instead, she was greeted with yet anotherhandful of salt. At that precise moment, she received a message from Ho-su, requesting a meeting. They once again found themselves seated beside the Han River, where Ho-su subtly hinted at resigning from his job. He confessed that he wasn't the type to pretend indifference to injustice, echoing the sentiments Mi-ji (as Mi-rae) had expressed previously.
Elsewhere, Mi-rae returned the discarded chair to Se-jin, accompanied by a report outlining strategies to boost productivity, demonstrating her proactive spirit despite everything.
As the episode drew to a close, Mi-ji received a message from the elderly lady, inviting her to discuss the contract. Overjoyed, she momentarily dropped her Mi-rae persona — just enough for Ho-su to glimpse her true identity.
