Despite their thorough search, they come up empty-handed, but they uncover an intriguing detail: Dong-myeong's fascination with marine documentaries. Yet, their determination to uncover any illegal activities remains unwavering.
The following day, Attorney Lee rendezvous with Hwa-ran outside the Jangju restaurant, broaching the subject of purchasing the building. Hwa-ran inspects the proposition but balks, deeming it a poor investment. As an alternative, she proposes financing the purchase for Attorney Lee, confident in his conviction about the property's potential. Attorney Lee Accepts her terms and further requests her men to make Hee-jun's time in prison less than pleasant.
In the interim, Dong-myeong visits Hee-jun, delivering the news that Bong-su is on the verge of being granted parole. Attorney Lee's subsequent visit reveals a more agitated Hee-jun than before.
During their conversation, Attorney Lee reveals that Jung-wook, another member of the parole review committee, approached him on Bong-su's behalf. It transpires that Bong-su offered Jung-wook monetary incentives for a favorable vote. In return, Jung-wook promises to facilitate Attorney Lee's relocation to a more prestigious office if he aligns with their cause. Jung-wook is elated when Attorney Lee appears receptive to the proposition.
Elsewhere, Dong-hoon persists in exerting pressure on Won-mi to withdraw her charges. Chairman Ji escalates his threats, vowing to fabricate a bullying scandal against her and ruin her reputation. Desperate, Won-mi seeks refuge in Attorney Lee, who reluctantly urges her to drop the case. He recognizes that Chairman Ji will stop at nothing to achieve his ends, and a defamation lawsuit would scarcely deter him. Persistence on her part could spell the end of her career. Chairman Ji also coerces Won-mi to arrange a meeting between him and Attorney Lee.
When Attorney Lee confronts the chairman, he stands his ground firmly. The elderly man, unfazed, threatens his life without hesitation, even incorporating Seo-yun into his revenge scheme. Yet, Attorney Lee remains steadfast and unyielding.
Later, Attorney Lee and Seo-hyun converged outside the Jangju restaurant, their conversation hushed yet urgent. Moments later, Hwa-ran joined them, her presence adding a tense undercurrent to the gathering. The two women, steadfast in their refusal to collaborate, stood firm. However, Attorney Lee, with a calm yet persuasive demeanor, reminded them of the necessity of their union, ultimately convincing them to proceed inside to negotiate with Dong-myeong's mother. They presented her with an offer she couldn't refuse – money in exchange for the building. The next day, Attorney Lee revisited Hee-jun, granting him a precious opportunity to make a crucial phone call. Hee-jun, desperation lacing his voice, pleaded with Dong-myeong to relocate the concealed funds. Suspicion gnawed at him; Bong-su had undoubtedly betrayed him, leaving no room for doubt.
That very night, Dong-myeong returned to the restaurant, only to find it securely locked. His mother's confirmation that she had sold it left him reeling. As he attempted to sneak in, Hwa-ran's sharp eyes caught him, and her henchmen swiftly escorted him away. Seeking guidance, Dong-myeong visited Hee-jun, who urged him to secure the funds at any cost.
Meanwhile, Jung-wook paid a visit to Bong-su, reassuring him that their agreement stood firm. Unbeknownst to Bong-su, Dong-myeong and Hee-jun were scheming to outwit him and claim the funds first. In a desperate bid, Dong-myeong hired thugs to storm the restaurant, but their efforts were thwarted by the authorities. Dong-myeong's relentless pursuit only solidified Attorney Lee's conviction that the illicit funds were indeed hidden there. As they debated the best approach to search the premises, Attorney Lee's ingenuity shone; he deduced the location of the hidden gold bars, buried beneath pots ostensibly filled with soybean paste.
Hwa-ran and her men set to work, cleaning the gleaming gold bars. Meanwhile, Attorney Lee received a frantic call from Ji-soon, informing him that debtors were harassing a woman in her restaurant. With Seo-hyun at his side, they rushed to the scene but arrived to find the thugs had vanished. The woman, revealed to be the wife of one of the victims, shared her harrowing tale. Her husband, driven to desperation by their financial ruin orchestrated by fraudsters, had been imprisoned for stealing food to nourish their daughter. In a heartfelt conversation, Attorney Lee pondered with Seo-hyun about the possibility of using the recovered funds to aid the victims.
Technically, the ownership rests with them, yet navigating the labyrinthine bureaucratic hurdles will stretch into the realms of years. See-hyun wavers in indecision, only to have her resolve solidified the following day as she beholds the thugs returning to prey upon the woman once more. Hwa-ran, accompanied by her team, presents the money to the victims' union, eliciting widespread jubilance. Their disbelief at such a fortuitous turn of events is palpable.
During the parole hearing, the woman recounts her ordeal orchestrated by Bong-su. Nonetheless, two members of the parole committee cast their votes in Bong-su's favor. Prior to casting his vote, Attorney Lee informs Jung-wook that their arrangement has been nullified due to Bong-su's dishonest claim of possessing the funds. Ultimately, Jung-wook betrays Bong-su, a revelation that the latter does not receive with equanimity. The tally concludes with a 3-2 vote against Bong-su's parole plea, which is subsequently denied. Losing his composure, Bong-su assaults Attorney Lee upon learning of the discovery of his illicit funds. Attorney Lee vows to extend Bong-su's sentence for the attack and departs.
Later, the woman pens a letter to her husband, sharing the joyous news. Thanks to Attorney Lee's intervention, they have managed to liquidate their debts and their restaurant business is flourishing. Conversely, Hwa-ran reverses her stance upon learning of the fluctuation in the building's valuation. She agrees to acquire the building from Attorney Lee. The episode concludes on a tense note, with Eung-joon assaulting Attorney Lee on a drenched evening, leaving him unconscious after a tumultuous fall down the stairs.
