The 64th archery exhibition at Seonggyungwan was a tense and volatile affair. Min-seok, the antagonist, was relentless in his derogatory remarks against Hui-ju, causing an uncomfortable atmosphere. However, Prince Yi-an, the protagonist, intervened, asking Min-seok to desist. Jeong-woo, Hui-ju's teammate, stood by her side, encouraging her every step of the way. The king was also present, taken aback by Prince Yi-an's decision to keep the archery range open for all to see.

Perfect Crown – K-Drama Episode 2 1

The conversation between Hui-ju and Prince Yi-an unfolds with a request for her to speak her terms. She begins by mentioning her wealth, business acumen, troubled brother, and beauty. Despite this, Prince Yi-an ultimately rejects her. The queen mother's mole tries to eavesdrop but fails to glean any useful information. Meanwhile, Yi-rang summons one of the Kim family's daughters, ostensibly as a spectator but with an ulterior motive to stir things up. She declares her intention to meet Hui-ju later.

Hui-ju's determination is undaunted by the rejection. If anything, it fuels her resolve to try again. She tells Hye-jung that Prince Yi-an is merely toying with her by claiming to seek love. Choi-hyun agrees after hearing the story from Prince Yi-an. Regardless, Hui-ju insists that she knows what Prince Yi-an truly desires and that she will win him over. She calls the PR manager and requests a secret favor, conducting a background check on the prince's schedule.

For the next few days, Hui-ju appears at every place where Prince Yi-an goes. Since he is on leave, he is doing things independently, allowing her to take advantage of this opportunity. Meanwhile, she also goes on the blind date arranged by her father but ruins her chances with the guy by telling him he will be a bum husband. The man's ego is hurt, and he rejects the wedding.

As she navigates the art exhibition, she happens upon Choi-hyun and teases about purchasing a piece from the Prince's private exhibition. Later, Choi-hyun mentions that he saw Hui-ju on a date with another man, causing Prince Yi-an to be angered but trying to maintain his composure. He is also offended when Choi-hyun reveals that he thought that Hui-ju might have been sent by the Queen Mother. The prince insists that the Queen Mother and Hui-ju are too different to ever see eye to eye. Choi-hyun teases about who would win between the two women if their hierarchy were stripped, which obviously offends Prince Yi-an.

Elsewhere, Yi-rang recalls the day the king wanted to announce his abdication. She was so enraged that she burnt the stamped decree before anyone could see it, saying she would rather die. Shortly after, the fire started and the king died. When Prince Yi-an arrived at the scene and saw his brother dead, all he could do was ask for his nephew, the heir. The memory still traumatizes Prince Yi-an and gives him nightmares, which is why he suffers from insomnia. Choi-hyun tries to take care of him, but it's a tough task.

Back at the palace, Yi-rang prepares the young king to attend his first royal event without Prince Yi-an. However, even Prince Yi-an is unsure if his nephew can pull it off.

As it turned out, the king was expected to attend the Economic Honours of Korea ceremony to honor the awardees, and Hui-ju was among them. Hye-jung advised her to behave impeccably. However, the young king was unable to attend the event in person and called upon his uncle, Prince Yi-an. As expected, he arrived and ensured everything went smoothly for his nephew.

When it was Hui-ju's turn to receive her award, she requested King Yi-yoon to place the Eosahwa hat on her head. For Prince Yi-an, she asked for a gift, but he said she already had one from the king. In contrast, when taking photos, he deliberately stood behind her, unlike the other awardees.

After promoting her award online, Hui-ju prepared for her vacation. She met with Prime Minister Jeong-woo for dinner, and he congratulated her while she teased him about their school days. Based on their interaction, it was safe to say that Jeong-woo had feelings for her during those days.

Unfortunately for Prince Yi-an, his condition worsened after the event. He ended up staying at a hotel as his fever spiked. Choi-hyun rushed to the pharmacist to get him medicine. He advised Prince Yi-an to go to the Royal Hospital, but the latter refused since most of the doctors there were related to Yi-rang. He was also wary of causing national concern.

Choi-hyun left to get some food and ran into Hui-ju. She called over her private doctor, who asked about the prince's sleeping habits. He suggested that the prince needed more rest. Hui-ju asked him to put her as the patient on record.

Back at the palace, Yi-rang scolded King Yi-hoon for relying on Prince Yi-an at the event. She found the young king's behavior similar to that of the late king, which scared her. She worried that her son was as feeble as his father.

As Prince Yi-an rested, Choi-hyun and Hui-ju shared some sandwiches. Choi-hyun revealed that Prince Yi-an didn't like being the center of attention and inconveniencing everyone. Also, if word got out that he was sick, the media and public would speculate, and rumors would fly.

As they talked, Yi-rang suddenly showed up at the hotel, and Choi-hyun scrambled to hide Hui-ju. Unfortunately, the Queen Mother saw Hui-ju's bag on the sofa and returned to the bedroom. She saw them together and demanded that he visit the palace to explain his actions the next day.

The following morning, at the first light of dawn, Hye-jung's phone call to Hui-ju summons her to remain in her hotel room. It seems the secret is out; the media has deemed her as Prince Yi-an's secret girlfriend. There are even whispers that she might be pregnant, fueled by a picture of her with a doctor. This is a massive scandal, but Hui-ju remains composed, viewing it as a disguise under a blessing. She believes it's a good form of publicity, whereas Hye-jung and the rest of the staff are on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

Tae-joo, of course, is envious. However, Yi-rang views this as the perfect scandal to draw Prince Yi-an out of the public's heart and potentially destroy Hui-ju in the process. Prime Minister Jeong-woo also takes the scandal calmly, convinced it's the perfect distraction to cover up the freeze on minimum wage. Instead of heading to the palace, Prince Yi-an retreats to his private residence and summons Hui-ju to meet him there.

Upon her arrival, the staff respectfully gives them some privacy and gossips outside while they wait. Prince Yi-an apologizes for the scandal and explains how she will have to bear the brunt of everyone's anger. He asks what she wants, and she insists that she wants to marry him so she can one-up her incompetent brother. She's tired of her dad and the board of directors overlooking her. She also confesses that she knows he intentionally lost the archery competition back in their high school days.

He's offended that she only wants to marry him for his title. The show ends with him agreeing to marry her, warning her to be prepared to go against the entire nation.
