Episode 6 of Platonic kicks off with Sylvia gearing up for her all-important interview. Technically, she's ready as a pro, but she can't shake the feeling that she's lacking in the appearance department. So, she decides to hit the mall with Kate, mindful not to end up looking like a carbon copy of Angela Merkel.

As she waits anxiously in the lobby, Sylvia flips through a magazine and is startled to see Merkel's familiar face staring back at her from the cover. To her horror, she realizes that she has dressed herself almost identically to the world leader. Frantically, she peels off her blazer and braces herself for the interview.

Later, Kirk, Charlie's friend who took the interview, breaks the good news to Sylvia - she's got the job! This marks a seismic shift in her life, one that will soon bring a series of exciting changes.

Platonic – Season 1 Episode 6 1

Meanwhile, Will faces the ultimate test of his relationship with Peyton. Omar, Peyton's friend who works at Will's bar, has spilled the beans about Will's dismissive remarks about their relationship in front of Sylvia. When Will tries to explain, Peyton's defenses are immediately on the alert, her insecurities bubbling to the surface.

Charlie embarks on his work trip, leaving the kids in the capable yet unconventional hands of his mother, Marla. Sylvia, however, finds Marla's lax parenting style lacking and is determined to take matters into her own hands.

Will summons Sylvia to his bar to meet Peyton and seek her opinion on their relationship. Despite their significant age gap, Will wants to know if he's making a huge mistake by being with Peyton.

The meeting between Sylvia and Peyton goes exactly as expected. Peyton, a millennial through and through, speaks a different language altogether. She has her own unique perspective on life and her own way of being. During their conversation, Peyton reveals that she has babysitting experience, prompting Sylvia to ask if she'd be interested in working for her. Will, however, is not amused when he hears this news and accuses Sylvia of undermining his relationship and being judgmental about their age difference.

One evening, as Sylvia returns home, Peyton bombshells her with some serious questions about Will. She senses that Will hasn't quite moved on from Audrey, even though Audrey herself has clearly moved forward. To back up her hunch, Peyton shows Sylvia photos of her and Skaagn in Norway, sourced from her Instagram account.

Upon her return, Peyton had all the ammunition she needed to unleash her fury on Will. Unbeknownst to him, he knocked on Sylvia's door in the dead of night, determined to confront her about their secret. Sylvia, who had been feigning indifference towards Peyton and her relationship with Will, couldn't hold back the truth any longer as Will's accusations flew. She admitted that she believed Peyton was too young and immature for him, and that he was clueless about what he was getting into.

In the midst of the heated argument, Will stormed through the glass door, shattering it and injuring himself in the process. Sylvia, shaken, gathered her children and announced that she was going back to work. Strangely, the children seemed indifferent to the news, revealing that they might not be as young and impressionable as they once were.

Will, seeking to make amends, invited Peyton to a birthday party he was throwing, with the theme "YOLO." The party went exactly as he had imagined, with Peyton stealing the show with her dance number. She set the dance floor on fire, exhibiting none of the "old soul" vibes that Will had attributed to her.

As the night progressed, Will realized with a jolt that Peyton was actually too old for him and he had made a colossal mistake. Despite Sylvia's pleas to refrain from breaking up with Peyton on her birthday, Will knew he couldn't continue with the relationship. He made his way to her house and ended things, his voice steady but his heart heavy. Peyton, hurt but resilient, shrugged it off as if it were nothing.

Later, Peyton announced that she was going out with her friends, leaving Will to stew in his own juices. To add insult to injury, he engaged in a bizarre contest of insults with her new roommate, Alan, who claimed to be 29 but looked every bit his age. It was a feeble attempt to mask the pain and heartbreak that were eating him alive, as he walked away into an uncertain future.
