Later, Staten and Jake delve into the mystery surrounding the vehicle fragment discovered at Randal's crash site, only to discover that the fender belongs to a '70s Ford pickup truck, a common sight in Texas with hundreds of thousands of the same F-series models on the roads. Tracing the registration proves to be an insurmountable task.

Meanwhile, Davis approaches Quinn while she's on her soap-delivery rounds, baring his heart and confessing his long-standing admiration for her. He even presents her with a CD he bought at one of her New York performances, a thoughtful gesture that touches Quinn deeply.

Elsewhere, Ellie expresses keen interest in becoming a partner at the dance club, but the realities of a tight budget and endless to-do lists loom large. In a bid to overcome their financial woes, Yancy suggests seeking assistance from Austin Water & Power.

The slim chances of locating the truck weigh heavily on Staten, who seeks solace in the bottom of a glass at the dance club. Quinn eventually takes him home, tenderly tucks him into bed, and leaves a glass of water and painkillers within arm's reach. The next morning, Staten awakens with a throbbing hangover to find his father, a senator, unexpectedly in his house. It's election season, and the senator is in town for a fundraiser aimed at securing his re-election.

We also delve deeper into Lucas's background, who has recently joined Staten's ranch. He resides with his elder brother Kit, whose father abandoned them a year ago. Lucas finds himself compelled to work the fundraiser party for his father, having borrowed an advance on his salary to bail Kit out of police custody.

Cap graciously loans Yancy a suit once belonging to his late son, Lincoln, for the festive occasion. Amidst the jubilant atmosphere of the party, Davis, Yancy, and Cap reminisce fondly about the joyous times they shared with Lincoln. Officer Kai, present at the gathering, finds himself increasingly intrigued by Yancy.

Quinn arrives at the party alongside Davis, drawing a response from Staten, who seems less than thrilled. He pulls Quinn aside to confront her about her intoxicated behavior from the previous night. After an awkward exchange, Staten offers a half-hearted apology, but Quinn remains indifferent, uninterested in prolonging the conversation.

Returning to the revelry, Quinn is introduced by Staten's father and Ellie to an executive from Austin Water & Power, who expresses keen interest in investing in their dance club. Quinn agrees to the potential partnership only after being assured that there are no hidden stipulations, such as signing a lease or publicly endorsing a controversial pipeline project.

Elsewhere, Lucas is heartbroken to see Lauren arrive at the party with Reid. He ushers her aside, reminding her of their pact to leave town together. Despite a passionate kiss that ensues, Lauren ultimately departs with Reid at the party's conclusion. Reid, haunted by guilt, laments using a fabricated tale of heroism—saving Tim, Lucas, and Lauren at the abandoned house—solely to gain his father's approval.

Later, Staten's father delivers a lengthy and sentimental toast, inviting the Austin Water & Power executive to address the gathering. The executive proudly announces the company's investment in Quinn's club, prompting Staten to create a scene by publicly declaring that Quinn is making a grave mistake.

Unperturbed, Quinn downs the last of her wine, rises to her feet, and delivers a pointed rebuke to Staten, asserting that the world does not revolve around him. With that, she exits the party, Davis by her side.

Meanwhile, Yancy inquiries about Staten with Cap, and the conversation inadvertently veers into heart-wrenching territory, detailing Lincoln's tragic demise during his military service and the poignant reality of his wife, Ruth, residing in a care home due to dementia. Davis escorts Quinn back home, commending her bravery in confronting Staten. He acknowledges Staten's ongoing sorrow, yet gently reminds Quinn that she too bears scars from her own losses. Elsewhere, Reid sees Lauren safely home, where she discovers a poignant note on the table from her mother, announcing her departure.

The next day, Jake provides Staten with an update on the missing truck, revealing that a chop shop in Bandura had dismantled a vehicle matching the description a year prior. Despite Jake's warnings about the perils of confronting the chop shop alone, Staten, determined not to let the lead slip away, insists that Jake send him the address. In a climactic revelation at the episode's close, Yancy visits Ruth, Cap's beloved wife, at the care home, dropping a bombshell: he is Lincoln's son and Cap and Ruth's long-lost grandson, a truth that resonates deeply with both revelation and emotion.
