Episode 2 of Renegade Nell kicks off with a heated argument brewing between a father and daughter within their carriage, amidst a bustling crowd. Suddenly, a masked Nell gracefully ascends atop the carriage, her presence causing a stir. She commands the driver to strip off his clothes, her tone leaving no room for argument.

Meanwhile, Nell's altercation with Billy reaches a feverish pitch. Billy himself is baffled as to why he's been tasked with safeguarding Nell. Amidst this confusion, Nell orders all the other passengers to disembark, her will unwavering.

Elsewhere, Thomas is haunted by voices, his mind clouded with unease. He and his sister cross paths with Captain Jarrold and Lord Standring, who offer to assist in the hunt for Nell by offering a bounty as a reward. Jarrold remains unfazed by Nell's supposed strength, his confidence bordering on arrogance.

Renegade Nell – Season 1 Episode 2 1

Back with Nell, she, her siblings, and Rasselas sift through the haul of stolen goods. Nell reveals her plan to leave her siblings at her uncle's care and embark on a journey to America alone. Rasselas, on the other hand, is informed that he's free to go his own way, a prospect that fills him with reluctance.

Poynton approaches Thomas, his tone congratulatory yet tinged with mockery, commenting on the recent loss of his father. He seems genuinely impressed with Thomas, hinting at greater things awaiting him.

Roxy finds herself increasingly drawn to Rasselas, her feelings growing stronger with each passing moment. She's stunned when Nell sends him away, her heart heavy with disappointment. She reveals the tragic tale of how Rasselas was purchased by Lord Blancheford at the tender age of three, his past as a slave a constant reminder of his subjugation.

Just when it seems the carriage is about to embark on its journey, it's suddenly halted by a highwayman. But it's none other than Devereaux, his appearance causing a stir. He informs Nell that a bounty of 20 pounds has been placed on her head, the news hanging heavy in the air.

Suddenly, Rassalus emerged from the shadows, brandishing a knife and pinning Devereaux against the wall. Devereaux, a note of desperation in his voice, pointed out the flaws in Nell's plan. "The first place they'll look is her uncle's," he warned. He proposed a bold ruse: using the stolen attire to pose as a married couple, with the trio assuming the roles of a maid, cousin, and footman. This way, they could hide in plain sight, lurking in the safety of a hotel.

The funeral for Lord Blancheford was a solemn occasion, but Thomas' nerves were frayed as he hallucinated his father's ghostly presence. Meanwhile, Nell and Devereaux successfully secured hotel rooms under the guise of Lord and Lady Shankley. Devereaux's strategy was clear: they would lay low and bide their time until they could devise their next move.

Poynton made his way to Sofia's chambers, where she revealed her plot to hire Jarrold to capture Nell and her remarkable strength. Poynton speculated that Nell must be entwined with some sinister force and offered his assistance. Jarrold arrived shortly after, updating Sofia on Nell's whereabouts.

Three days passed, and the Shankleys remained ensconced in their hotel rooms. Devereaux confessed that he was penniless, his father having squandered their fortune on gambling. Roxy and Rassalas engaged in idle chatter about the latter's elusive family, but Rassalas was at a loss as to how to track them down. Suddenly, a letter arrived, an invitation from Lord and Lady Springbourne, extending their hospitality to the Shankleys. Devereaux seized the opportunity, convincing Nell that they could steal from their hosts at a game of cards.

Unbeknownst to them, a hotel staff boy had overheard their conversation and alerted Sofia and Thomas to Nell's presence. Sofia wasted no time, dispatching Jarrold to track down Nell and her companions. She issued a stern warning to Thomas: if he failed to secure the estate, she would lose everything too.

Meanwhile, Poynton received a mysterious letter from Sofia. He used a ring to unlock a hidden compartment in his office, revealing a secret passageway underground. Descending into the dank chamber, Poynton revealed tattoos adorning his neck and arms as he embarked on a sinister ritual.

Roxy and George marveled at Nell's extraordinary abilities, and Roxy noticed a glow of goodness emanating from her sister when she was in her fighting mode. Suddenly, the sisters' reverie was interrupted by the sight of Sofia and a cadre of men riding towards Nell with evident intent.

Down in the bowels of the earth, Poynton's dark magic came to life. With a roar, he summoned an undead knight astride a steed of nightmare, sending it galloping towards Nell. Meanwhile, unaware of the danger closing in, Nell and Devereaux made their way into their hosts' mansion, heedless of Billy's warnings that their plan was fraught with peril.
