Renegade Nell – Season 1 Episode 7

Published: May 31 2024

Episode 7 of Renegade Nell unexpectedly opens with a haunting melody, as a man sings a theatrical song, painting a chilling picture of Nell as a formidable monster. The song, a ballad of sorts, sets the tone for the upcoming drama.

As Nell, Roxy, George, and Poll stumble upon a flyer, the queen also comes across it, her brow furrowed with concern over the looming threat of the Jacobites. Convinced by Poynton, she decides to abandon the palace for safer shores.

Following the mysterious symbol on the flyer, Nell and her companions arrive at a printing press. Billy suggests a novel approach: instead of destroying the press, they should use it as a tool for truth. Inside the building, they are confronted by a striking painting of Lady Eularia, and unexpectedly encounter Rasselas, who shares everything he knows about Poynton and Sofia.

However, when they present their story to the editor, he rejects it with a wave of his hand. They learn about Devereaux's looming trial, but Nell holds fast to the belief that Eularia will intervene to save him.

At court, Devereaux turns the tables, blaming Nell for all his woes. He claims to have rejected Nell's advances in prison and stayed behind to clear his name as a gentleman. Meanwhile, Sofia approaches Poynton with the intention of searching for Rasselas and Nell, but Poynton is preoccupied with the queen's impending arrival at his estate. He urges Sofia to move on from the Nell issue.

Nell vents her frustration to Billy, railing against the situation and warning that Poynton's actions are bringing war closer to their doorstep, with those like her bearing the heaviest burden. Billy vows that they will do whatever it takes to prevent such a catastrophe.

In court, a woman representing the victims steps forward to confront Devereaux. She accuses him of being a Jacobite, citing his connection to a French grandfather. As Devereaux frantically defends himself, he reveals that his father was a humble shoemaker. Realizing the hopelessness of his situation, Eularia abandons the court, leaving Devereaux to face the consequences of his actions alone.

As the men loyal to the Jacobite cause arrive at Poynton's stately abode, Sofia watches helplessly as Thomas joins their ranks. Left out of the crucial proceedings, she finds herself alone in Poynton's office, where she stumbles upon a hidden trapdoor, her curiosity piqued.

Elsewhere, Roxy and Rassalas catch up on the whirlwind of events that have unfolded. Roxy's anger flares when she realizes that Nell kept quiet about Rassalas's confession of his feelings for her. Eularia's arrival offers no solace, as she stubbornly refuses to listen to Nell's tale. Suddenly, a bizarre occurrence catches their attention - a piece of paper floats towards Roxy, seemingly propelled by unseen forces.

Meanwhile, Sofia descends the stairs, determined to locate Rassalas. She repeats the spell that once guided her, and the cloth in her hand ignites with a fiery glow. Nell raises her gun at Eularia, but before she can act, Sofia takes control of Eularia's body. In a furious struggle, she overpowers Nell and shoves her beneath the heavy printing press. Sofia's magic brings the lies printed in the newspaper to life, as voices echo throughout the building, spewing the words of deceit. George, realizing the need for truth, sings a song that reveals Nell's true nature.

But Sofia's possession of Eularia is short-lived, and she is forced out, defeated once again. She rushes into the adjacent room, breathlessly informing Poynton and the others that Nell knows about the impending invasion. Deciding to act swiftly, they resolve to confront the queen the very next day.

As Eularia awakens, her mind clouded with confusion and anger, she vows revenge on whoever dared to possess her. Nell and the others fill her in on Sofia and Poynton's involvement. Suddenly, Eularia's companion arrives with shocking news - Devereaux, though pronounced guilty, managed to fight his guards and escape.

In a swift move, Eularia fires the editor who refused to publish Rasselas's story and appoints Polly in his place. The editor's office is soon abuzz with activity when a pigeon arrives, carrying a note revealing the queen's relocation. With little time to print a story, Nell declares that they will stop them regardless. As the tension mounts, a carriage races along the road, driven by Nell herself, signaling the climax of Renegade Nell Episode 7.
