Episode 10 of "Resident Playbook" kicks off with a harrowing scene where a patient succumbs to post-partum haemorrhage (PPH), her life slipping away despite I-yeong's desperate attempts to revive her. Awakening with a jolt, I-yeong is left reeling from the tragedy.
The following day, Professor Seo conducts a session on PPH, aiming to equip the residents with the knowledge to swiftly identify the condition in the wake of the recent loss. This session serves as the catalyst for a rivalry between Professor Seo and Professor Kong, who engage in a tug-of-war over operation theaters, using I-yeong and Nam-kyung as pawns in their power struggle. This conflict escalates tensions between I-yeong and Nam-kyung, leading to heated exchanges.
Elsewhere, Sa-bi finds herself in Professor Cho's crosshairs after opting to assist in a different surgery than the one assigned to her. Meanwhile, I-yeong and Do-won embark on a romantic relationship, choosing to keep their burgeoning love under wraps. As they return to their shared space, they discover Ju-yeong awaiting ambiguous blood test results, her hopes hanging in the balance following her IVF procedure.
Back at the hospital, I-yeong and Do-won's clandestine dates are continually disrupted by well-meaning bystanders. Their attempts to maintain privacy are further complicated by the ongoing tensions between Professor Seo and Kong, which inevitably spill over into confrontations between I-yeong and Nam-kyung.
In another corner of the hospital, Professor Cho lays into Sa-bi, falsely accusing her of feeding a patient who was supposed to be fasting in preparation for surgery. The rebuke includes personal attacks, but the truth soon emerges: the error was committed by another resident. Fortunately, Professor Ryu, who had been an unwitting witness to the ordeal, offers Sa-bi a compassionate gesture, buying her a coffee to lift her spirits.
The following day, Ju-yeong undergoes her blood test only to discover that the procedure has failed, prompting I-yeong to join her side and attempt to soothe her disappointment. At this juncture, Ik-jun enters the emergency room in a predicament, his palms glued shut by superglue. We also uncover that he was once a close acquaintance of Professor Seo, as Song-hwa arrives soon after, having shared lab duties with the professor.
Elsewhere, in yet another instance of Professor Cho's personal vendetta against Sa-bi, Professor Ryu finally intervenes, confronting him head-on. Embarrassed and contrite, Professor Cho offers an apology and departs.
Meanwhile, I-yeong and Nam-kyung, on duty, spring into action to transport a patient experiencing postpartum hemorrhage to emergency care. Ik-jun scrutinizes the patient's records, noting her history of a liver transplant several years prior, and grants the team clearance for surgery. Overcoming their initial fear and shock, they strive with all their might until Professor Seo and Kong arrive to assist in the operation. Fortunately, they manage to save the patient, their collective efforts fostering a sense of camaraderie and teamwork that temporarily puts an end to their trivial rivalries.
As the dust settles, Ik-jun takes Song-hwa on a tour of the hospital's romantic haven – the outpatient ward, eerily deserted under the cloak of night. After their departure, Jae-il and Sa-bi exit the ward, Jae-il having made a promise to Sa-bi for a secluded dinner. However, Jae-il returns to retrieve something when he unexpectedly catches I-yeong and Do-won emerging from one of the rooms, holding hands, as the episode draws to a close.
