The seventh episode of "Resident Playbook" unfolds with the interns engaging in lively discourse about the eccentricities of their first-year resident peers. The narrative then pivots to Professors Seo and Ryu, who hatch a scheme to entice intern doctor Tak Gi-on into joining their OB-GYN department. They confidentially inform Nam-kyung that Gi-on holds her in high esteem, urging her to embody kindness and approachability to sway his decision.

This tactic is promptly put to the test when Gi-on inadvertently informs Ik-sun of her recurring illness while mistakenly glancing at another patient's file with the same name. Chi-hong sternly reprimands them for the oversight, yet Nam-kyung maintains her composure and patience towards Gi-on.

Elsewhere, the residents immerse themselves in suturing practice, with I-yeong shining brightly as a standout talent.

The episode dives into the daily turmoil of the OB-GYN department, where emergency deliveries consistently upset the schedule of planned surgeries, sparking tension with physicians from other specialties. The first-year residents find themselves constantly apologizing for delays and bearing the brunt of blame.

Amidst this whirlwind, a cancer-stricken patient arrives. Her son begged the doctors to keep his condition secret, fearing that once his mother knew the truth, she would refuse surgery and recall the painful experiences of other cancer patients in the family. The doctors tacitly agreed to this request.

Later, the residents catch up with Do-won over dinner. Following the meal, Do-won escorts I-yeong home and promises to treat her to another meal, only to abruptly recall his impending vacation. As his departure draws near, other professors start seeking his assistance, underscoring his reliability and trustworthiness.

Despite her tireless endeavors, Nam-kyung finds herself in a predicament, struggling to garner the approval and recognition of both patients and doctors alike. Instead, much of the accolades and praise inadvertently gravitate towards the intern doctor, Gi-on, leaving her feeling invisible and overlooked.

Meanwhile, Sa-bi grapples with a contentious issue within the pediatric department. She valiantly manages to carve out space in the nursery for a newly arrived infant. Simultaneously, I-yeong finds herself at odds with the anesthesia team during another harrowing emergency delivery.

Jae-il stands his ground firmly when a doctor from a different department requests a postponement of testing. Eventually, all the residents converge for a communal meal, collectively agreeing that it's imperative to assert themselves more assertively when interacting with doctors from other departments.

Do-won bids his farewells before embarking on a trip to Taiwan. However, shortly thereafter, Gi-on inadvertently discloses the elderly patient's cancer diagnosis. Stunned by the revelation, she nearly rejects surgery altogether.

Professors Ryu and Nam-kyung offer their apologies for keeping the truth concealed, but the woman expresses gratitude to Gi-on for his honesty and ultimately decides to proceed with the operation.

As I-yeong takes a moment to unwind, she is abruptly summoned for another emergency: a foreign patient, unable to communicate in either Korean or English, is unexpectedly going into labor.

With no alternative medical professionals at hand, Professor Seo tasks I-yeong with the daunting responsibility of preparing for surgery. Her hands tremble as she grips the scalpel, but she finds solace in the words of encouragement from doctors of other specialties. Just as her anxiety peaks, Do-won makes a miraculous entrance. Having missed his flight due to a misplaced nap, he dashed back upon hearing of the urgent situation. United in their purpose, they work in tandem to successfully deliver the baby and ensure the mother's safety.

Elsewhere, Nam-kyung finally receives a call from her boyfriend, who informs her that he is at the hospital with his mother, who had suffered a fall. Instead of seizing this moment to reconcile their tumultuous relationship, he concedes that their journey together has come to an end. They bid each other farewell amicably, their on-again, off-again romance quietly dissolving into a mutual breakup.

In the climactic scene, I-yeong sends a text to Do-won, inviting him to meet her on the rooftop. Upon her arrival, however, she is serenaded by an unexpected proposition from her anesthesiology colleague, who asks her out for dinner. This awkward encounter unfolds just as Do-won steps into view, witnessing them together.
