Running Point – Season 1 Episode 2 1

Sandy delivers the grim news: Cheesy Mechanical Beds, Waves' largest sponsor, is withdrawing its support. This Christian-based family organization believes that the LA Waves no longer align with their values. Isla and Ali hastily board a flight to Indiana to confront the company's Chief Executive Officer. However, Isla's temper flares up, escalating the situation when she snaps at the CEO for insulting her family. On their return journey, Isla expresses interest in securing tech sponsors, prompting Ali to arrange potential meetings.

Bernie, the family lawyer, convenes the siblings to reveal the existence of their half-brother, Jackie Moreno. Cam, keen to keep the media at bay, insists that Sandy silence Jackie by offering him a settlement. Reluctantly, the siblings oblige to Cam's directive. Initially thrilled about the money, Jackie hesitates when Anna informs him that he must sign a non-disclosure agreement and sever all contact with his siblings.

Meanwhile, Sandy and Ness remain steadfast in their quest to become co-presidents. Having been rebuffed by Cam, they escalate their cause to the board. They enlist Steven to convene a meeting and initiate a vote of no confidence against Isla's presidency.

Prior to the pivotal board meeting, we are introduced to Sandy's boyfriend, Charlie. Although they've been dating for a year, Charlie has yet to meet Sandy's family. Sandy claims she's shielding Charlie from her chaotic family dynamics and is unashamed of his profession as a dog groomer.

Isla strives to secure Yog-Flirt, a dating company, as Waves' new sponsor. She nearly seals the deal but utters something that offends the founders. While shopping at Sephora, Ali and Isla receive notifications from Steven about the impending board meeting. Isla's panic sets in, but a chance encounter with a passionate Waves fan at the store ignites another groundbreaking idea in her mind.

The following dawn, Isla skillfully persuaded Sephora to ink a sponsorship deal with Waves. Armed with meticulous research and compelling data, she secured a whopping 20 percent increase in funding over the previous sponsor's offer, which had slipped through their fingers. With the board meeting still in full swing, Isla and Ali stormed the room, bringing an air of urgency. Isla proudly unveiled her triumphant achievement, leaving Ness and Sandy with little choice but to concur.

Meanwhile, Anna's enthusiasm for reaching a settlement surpassed even Jackie's. She expertly negotiated, hiking the settlement amount to a cool two million dollars. Jackie, however, stipulated that the Gordons grant him one face-to-face meeting before signing on the dotted line. During this poignant encounter, Jackie's heartfelt speech deeply resonated with the Gordon siblings. Isla, sensing a change of heart, urged Jackie not to finalize the agreement but to embrace his kinship instead. Ness and Sandy, overjoyed, welcomed the prospect of gaining a younger brother, yet Cam remained unconvinced.

Later in the evening, Isla and Ali savored a glass of wine, reveling in Isla's remarkable accomplishments. Their cherished girl's night was abruptly shattered by a broadcaster's announcement. The bombshell had hit: the public was now privy to the fact that Jack Gordon had an illegitimate son and that Jackie once toiled as a concessions vendor at Waves.
